WOLF’s Den

Friday, February 11th, 2011

Youtube user drewolf has a series of videos dealing with the airsoft and paintball industry. This particular video shows how to use MOLLE, the Magpul PTS Masada ACR made by ARES Airsoft, and a photo shoot of Full Clip products.

Duke Nukem Forever Balls Of Steel Edition

Friday, February 11th, 2011

Like most new video game releases, Duke Nukem Forever is also offering a limited edition packed to the gills with goodies for those willing to spend the standard extra $10-60. However, I think this is one of the cooler special editions to have been announced in recent times, if only for all the Duke-themed items. It comes with a detailed bust of Duke Nukem with the inscription ‘Carpe Nukem’, 100 page art book, postcard series, radioactive emblem sticker, comic book, foldable paper craft, poker chips, mini-card deck, and radioactive emblem dice. Plus the package comes with a limited edition certificate of authenticity. If you’ve ever been a Duke fan, this is definitely the package for you.

Edit: I just found out that the Balls Of Steel Edition is priced at $99.99, and quantities are limited. You can pre-order from GameStop and Amazon.

Social Darwinism At Its Finest

Thursday, February 10th, 2011

Oh, where to begin? With this list, of course:

-He didn’t assume it was loaded.
-He pointed the gun at his foot, which is something I assume he didn’t want to destroy.
-He put his finger on the trigger, while assuming it wasn’t loaded, despite not aiming at anything.
-It’s damn sure he wasn’t aware of his target. Well, he was after the bullet impacted his foot.

In case you didn’t follow, that list is basically an antithesis to the four rules of firearms. It just boggles the mind how someone who is supposedly trained to handle firearms can be this stupid. The best part is he assures the class he’s a professional, and that he’s the only one trained enough to handle the Glock, when all of a sudden, disaster strikes! Sure, the video’s old, but the message is timeless: follow the rules, and you might not end up like ‘The Footless Wonder’ there.

Cat Shit One Episode 1 Free

Thursday, February 10th, 2011

Just another reminder that the first episode of Cat Shit One is free on Youtube until February 19. You can also purchase the first episode on Blu-ray or DVD, which includes 75 minutes of special features and the inclusion of blood and gore that was omitted from the Youtube showing. Plus, the bad guys are camels, which is hilarious.

NERF N-Strike Tactical Vest

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

This NERF N-Strike Tactical Vest can hold enough foam weaponry to start a small war… in your back yard. This one-size-fits-most vest holds four quick load clips (mags), 12 clip (mag) system darts, extra blasters, and any of the N-Strike swords. In addition, it comes with two clear clear clips (mags), because clear equals tactical, and 12 additional darts. At the rate NERF N-Strike is growing, I expect next years vest to be MOLLE compatible.

A Simple, Accurate Bullet Counter

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

When shooting a firearm, it’s sometimes difficult to remember exactly how many rounds are left in your magazine. And while bullet counters aren’t a new concept, what has been produced is mostly limited to military use. However, Michael Ciuffo has created a simple to use and more importantly accurate bullet counter. As you can see from the video, it attaches to the standard Picatinny rail system. It works by picking up the recoil of each shot, and can be adjusted for sensitivity, from a few to 50 Gs of force. Although the counter is pre-set at 30 rounds, it can be adjusted for more or less, dependent on the size of your magazine. The display also flashes when you’ve run dry, and one of the more useful features is if you perform a reload and a round is still in the chamber, pressing the reset button will add +1 to your original count. Finally, the power source is simple: it runs on 2 AA batteries.

This is a very cool product, and it’s definitely on my list of ‘must-haves’. Luckily, because of the large demand for the counters Michael Ciuffo is entering production with them. To receive the newsletter which will detail their eventual release, message him on Youtube with your e-mail address in the body. Also, it’s worth note that these counters are not intended for use in combat situations, but from what I understand the device is sturdy enough that it could handle such conditions.

Homefront: The Voice of Freedom

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

‘Homefront: The Voice of Freedom’ by John Milius and Raymond Benson is a pretty good read. It details the actions of Ben Walker, a journalist turned resistance fighter and underground radio personality called ‘The Voice of Freedom’ during a Korean occupation of the United States. Wait, what? That’s right, in the fiction of Homefront, North Korea, led by Kim Jong-Il’s son, Kim Jong-Un, ‘peacefully’ reunifies with the South and the ‘Greater Korean Republic’ quickly begins annexing most of Asia, becoming a world power. During the same time period, the USA suffers economically, socially, and militarily, making it a shadow of what it once was. Then the ‘Norks’ get ballsy and launch a cyber attack and an EMP on the US, invade, and quickly start trying to take control of all its resources. And of course they encounter pockets of US resistance, who are hopelessly outmatched, but are driven on by the American spirit. Hell yeah!

While I can’t tell if it’s a straight-up prequel to the upcoming game, or if the events are parallel, I will tell you it’s a good introduction to the story. Homefront releases March 8th.

North Atlantic Airsoft Expo

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

It’s almost time for the second annual North Atlantic Airsoft Expo. Located in High Point, North Carolina, it will be held from March 4-6. The event will include appearances from airsoft manufacturers, retailers, event coordinators, state organizations, and organized teams. There will also be symposiums on airsoft training for both law enforcement and home defense. Airsoft is becoming increasingly popular, for both training and entertainment, so this is definitely an expo worth attending.

All related information about the NAAE, including ticket purchases, can be found on naaexpo.com

Magpul Executive iPhone 4 Case Winner

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

Congratulations to John Lee for this amazing drawing! While it’s hard to argue for Stormtroopers being more than mostly incompetent foot soldiers that make for better target practice than anything, two factors are definitely in favor for this particular trooper:

1) She’s a she. And members of the fairer sex in the Star Wars universe have always been dangerous.
2) Her chest rig, sling, and helmet all have MultiCam accents. What’s more tactical than MultiCam in this day and age, huh?

Thanks to everyone else who participated in the contest. Oh, and stay tuned. I may just be giving something else away pretty soon…

Now You Can Be Just Like Thor

Monday, February 7th, 2011

If you’ve had aspirations of being the Norse god of Thunder and Lightening, then you may just have to pick up this toy Mjöllnir replica coming out soon. Besides being totally awesome just for being a replica of the hammer of Thor, it also shoots a projectile which appears to represent a lightening bolt. In all honesty, the toy looks way better than the movie, which if you haven’t seen the trailer, looks like it’s gonna suck hard.

Chocolate Ordnance Just In Time For Valentines

Monday, February 7th, 2011

What’s better than sending your significant other a chocolate handgun or maybe some chocolate bullets? What about a chocolate grenade? Well, at least that’s the belief of AEON Meridian, who offers these slightly offbeat confectioneries. You can purchase them from MidwestHuntersOutlet.com.

How Everything Goes To Hell During A Zombie Apocalypse

Sunday, February 6th, 2011

http://theoatmeal.com/comics/zombie_how (A bit NSFW)

The above link leads to a comic detailing the common problems that lead up to, and during, a zombie apocalypse. Not only is this hilarious, but it’s also available for sale as a poster. I definitely want one!

iPhone Contest Officially Closed

Saturday, February 5th, 2011

The iPhone contest is now closed. Thanks to everyone who participated. The winner will be announced soon.

Brink: A Choir Of Guns

Saturday, February 5th, 2011

Brink is an upcoming FPS by developer Splash Damage, that combines elements of parkour, in-depth weapon customization, and class-based gameplay. Due to the multitude of AAA titles that are being released along side it, Brink hasn’t received a large amount of publicity, but I’m already beginning to see what has the potential to be one of the greatest games of the year. It’s release date is May 17.

SOG Knives Vid Staring The Gunny

Friday, February 4th, 2011

Do you like SOG knives? Do you like The Gunny? Then like SOG Knives on Facebook. The full film, which details the rest of The Gunny’s fishing trip, will be up at 7pm EST. My guess is he yells that rock into non-existence, or shoots it with one of his Glocks. After watching the film, you have the chance to win one of several SOG products by answering two questions about it. So pay attention to the film, and you could end up one SOG knife richer.

Iraqi Soldiers Suck At Jumping Jacks

Friday, February 4th, 2011

The title says it all. I know there’s the concept of cultural differences, but you’d figure that wouldn’t affect something as simple as a jumping jack. In fact, this article found on Cracked.com does so much (hilarious) justice that I won’t even attempt to match it. It’s nothing short of pure gold.

Only One Day Left To Win That iPhone Case!

Friday, February 4th, 2011

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow’s the deadline to win the Magpul iPhone 4 Executive Case. Get those contest entries on my Facebook page ASAP!

Badass LEGO Guns: The Movie

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

I wrote about the book ‘Badass LEGO Guns’ a little while ago. Now, the author has released a Youtube video of the titular weapons in action. The Warbeast seems to be particularly devastating when used on tiny LEGO brick houses and thin paper backgrounds.

Time Freeze Shootout

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

Yet another video by ‘freddiew’ that seems to be somewhat of a sequel to his earlier Chrono Trigger vid. For a recap, he mostly uses special effects such as green screens and editing software along with airsoft weapons to achieve the desired results. It’s always cool to see what you can come up with using modern software.

Indian Terminator

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011

This craziness is from a movie called Endhiran, and it’s the most expensive Bollywood movie ever produced. It also happens to be India’s highest grossing movie of all time. Is it hard to see why? BTW, there’s also dancing (it’s Bollywood, what do you expect) that’s thankfully cut from this video.

Top Self Defense Tools For The Apocalypse

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011

Game TrailersE3 2011Attack This

This video from AOTS shows a couple of so called ‘top self defense tools’ in case of a zombie apocalypse. I’m going to totally debunk them both, since I’m a huge fan of zombie fiction, and I can easily tell using either of these will only end you up as undead chow. I’d also like to add that the video starts by mentioning the only way to stop a zombie is by decapitating it. That only separates the still-biting head from the body. Destroying the brain is the only guaranteed method. Fanboy moment over, onto ripping on some products!

Axe Maker Kit – bestmadeco.com: A do-it-yourself ax valued at $140? I’ll pass. Even with two handles made of American hickory, a hand-forged ax blade, and a shaver, that’s a bit too much for something I’ll just repeatedly bury into the undead. I’d rather pick up an ax at the store ($30, easily found for less or more) or even a crowbar (again $30, easily found for less or more). At least with the later I have an effective melee weapon and a tool for opening whatever barriers I may find.

Card Sharp – iainsinclair.com : It folds up to look just like a credit card? Seems more like an altercation with a TSA agent waiting to happen than an effective anti-zombie device. Actually, killing a zombie TSA agent with this would offer what I imagine to be some form of poetic justice. But I digress, if you need a zombie-fighting blade, go for a machete, or a shaolin spade, if you can find it. This is just too small to cause any noticeable damage to the undead hoard. After all, the whole concept is to destroy the brain, not cut away at them.

Long story short: these are horrible options. In case of a zombie attack, go with something else. After all, your life may depend on it.

So That’s Where All That Energy Supplement Money Goes

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

Red Bull has a Cobra attack helicopter? Looks like we need to get the ‘Tactical Fanboy’ Reaper drone up and running sooner than I thought.

OR ‘Odd Job’ Fedora

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

It’s a fedora from OR that is made from wool and cordura. It also includes a bottle opener on the brim for making your drunken revelry all the easier. Obviously, being named after a James Bond villain is a major plus. Available in both espresso plaid and charcoal plaid.
