Monster Black Ice

Friday, May 20th, 2011

Always on the prowl for new energy drinks, I came across a flavor of Monster I haven’t tried yet. Monster Black Ice is part of the Extra Strength Nitrous Technology line, and is the first in the line to have zero calories or sugar. Surprisingly, the drink is lacking in that “diet” taste, and is pleasantly smooth, with a nice bite. I had a hard time locking down the flavor, but I’d best describe it as berry-ish, almost like a punch. Although Nitrous Super Dry is still my go to Monster, I find this to be an excellent alternative, so give it a shot.

The SEAL Who Shot Bin Laden

Friday, May 20th, 2011

The Navy Seal Who Killed Osama Bin Laden from Rob Riggle

For the SEAL who shot Bin Laden, discretion and secrecy is of the utmost importance, but those are values one is quick to forget when surrounded by copious amounts of alcohol and awe-struck admirers. I’m most impressed how he still manages to ham up something as completely huge as taking out UBL. ‘Lt. John McClellan – Real American Hero’ indeed.

Super-Penetration Shovel

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Honestly, I’m really posting this for the name. It completely caters to my often immature sense of humor. But, behind the silly title lies a pretty useful digging implement. The Super-Penetration Shovel *giggle* is all steel with a tapered point blade and fully sharpened sides. It’s designed for digging in hard, compacted, or heavy clay-like soils. It also comes with an optional rubber foot pad, which rests on either the left or right, and a 10-in Mill file, to keep your shovel extra sharp. Plus, it’s made in the USA, which I always like to see.

You can get yours from garrettwade.com.

TOPS/Buck CSAR-T Responder

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

From the collaborative efforts of TOPS knives and Buck knives comes the CSAR-T (Combat Search & Rescue Tool) series of knives. This particular model is the Responder. A folding blade, the CSAR-T Responder features a 3 1/2 inch TOPS/Buck blade made of 420HC stainless steel with a Zirblast finish, with a notch for bending wire among other small tasks. The handle, made from textured black G-10, can be used as a glass breaker and includes a seat belt cutter as well as a hex tool. The CSAR-T Responder comes with a heavy-duty nylon sheath, which is M.O.L.L.E compatible, and weighs 7 oz. (9.3 oz with the sheath). It’s an excellent choice for first responders who need a reliable and versatile tool in their line of work.

Duke Nudem – NSFW

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Duke Nudem is potentially the greatest flash promotional game ever made for, well, anything. After asking for your age, you’re taken to a selection screen. You know you’re dealing with something special when you’re booed for hovering your pointer over ‘SFW’ and congratulated for hovering over ‘NSFW’. The game itself is simple: there are four girls, each controlled by the AI, and three different shooting gallery style games, all with different firearms. When you win a round over a particular girl, she takes off a piece of clothing. Win three rounds and you see her bare breasts. Lose, and Duke strips (thankfully) off screen. Sure, there are easier ways to see boobs on the internet, but the novelty of this game is way worth it. Oh, and a word of caution, the ‘SFW’ isn’t really that safe for work. It only covers nipples with cartoonish pixelated Duke heads. You have been warned.

Firearms Guide: 2nd Edition

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

I’m impressed with the sheer volume of information available on this DVD. It includes details on over 50,000 firearms by hundreds of manufactures, from A.M.S.D to ZVI, including high-res images, technical specifications, and pricing when applicable. The guide offers detailed information on hundreds of types of ammunition including ballistics and pricing. Also available is a library over 1,550 printable firearm and airgun schematics and parts lists from 130 manufactures, 500 printable targets, a US-EU ammo caliber chart, and a video on the construction of bespoke guns. It’s easily the most comprehensive collection of firearms information I’ve ever had the pleasure of looking at. I highly recommend it.

Pre-Order MW3 And Get A Poster

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

The title says it all. If you pre-order MW3 at GameStop you get this poster. The front shows what could possibly be the cover box art, while the back details a fake Time magazine cover that, quite honestly, spoils a bit of the game’s story. Easily worth the $5 minimum. But sadly, I found no secret URL or code on the poster a la Black Ops.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released on November 8th, 2011.

Duke Nukem Forever Action Figure

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

Duke Nukem, the ultimate alien ass-kicker, is back and this time in toy form! Roughly 7″ tall and featuring over 20 points of articulation, he comes equipped to fight the extraterrestrial menace with his gold-plated 1911 and a cigar. These figures are made by NECA, so it’s easy to assume they’re pretty high quality, especially compared to the horrible ReSaurus Duke figures made in ’97; Duke’s legs broke way too easily.

Diane McInerney Of Inside Edition Trains Like A Navy SEAL

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

Diane McInerney of Inside Edition recently spent a day training with instruction from former SEALs Don Shipley and Lalo Roberti at the Extreme SEAL Experience outside Norfolk, VA. During the simulation, Diane wore around 60 pounds of equipment in addition to going through tactical training similar to that which SEAL Team Six went through before the raid on UBL’s compound. The exercise included how to infiltrate a building using a rope ladder, climb the side of a building, and crash through a window, with REAL glass, boots first. Quite the impressive feat (no pun intended).

Iron Sky

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

We’ve all seen Nazis before. But space Nazis? Eh, still not the most original concept. How about space Nazis living on the dark side of the moon with space zeppelins that launch Nazi attack saucers? Ok, now you’ve caught my attention. It’s a shame we have to wait until next year for what will undoubtedly be the greatest movie ever made.

Iron Sky releases on April 4th, 2012.

Manta Rails

Monday, May 16th, 2011

To say that Manta Rails are simply a slip-on grip cover for your rail system wouldn’t be doing them justice. Manta Rails are made from a highly resilient polymer and have adjustable grip tension for a variety of rail tolerances. They are quick to install, reduce weapon heat, protect your weapon from chemicals and abrasion, and reduce mirage and IR signature. Manta Rails are also available in a variety of colors to help break up the weapon’s silhouette and can be cut down to fit any length rail. One of the more unique and useful features of Manta Rails is the Micro Pocket design. These allow you to internally route wires and pressure switches to keep them in place and protect them from fluctuating temperatures and external hazards. Very useful if you run a light or laser on your weapon. Finally, they maintain a positive grip in practically every situation. They also do a great job of protecting your hands and equipment from the sawtooth effect of a 1913 rail. Simply put, Manta Rails are extremely versatile rail covers. I use them, and highly recommend them to everyone.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Delayed

Monday, May 16th, 2011

If you were hoping to get your hands on Ubisoft’s upcoming Ghost Recon title this year, think again. The publisher announced during its Q4 financial call that Future Soldier will be delayed until sometime between January and March of next year. Although I hate to see such a cool looking game get delayed, I will admit that with all the high-profile releases coming out this holiday season, it’s probably best we wait awhile for this to come out. Hell, I’d be so busy with MW3 and BF3 that I might have overlooked it, and I really want to play with all those cool future technologies, like the active cloak and predator-esque shoulder mounted rockets.

Bollywood: Radical Islam’s Biggest Threat?

Monday, May 16th, 2011

Check out this fascinating video on how Bollywood is a major threat to the ideals of radical Islam. Three billion people watch the films of Bollywood, which dramatize the tensions between modern and traditional teachings that young people in Arab and Muslim countries can appeal to. Plus, there’s footage of hot women dancing, which is always very welcome.

Coco And Ice T At SGC

Sunday, May 15th, 2011

Both Ice T and Coco were at a recent event at Scottsdale Gun Club where they got a bit of shooting done. The event was hosted by US PALM, and you can see Rob Anderson posing in the pic above, along with the happy couple. Good times all around.

Flashbang Bra Holster

Sunday, May 15th, 2011

Despite what the name may lead you to believe, it’s actually a pistol holster, and as you can see from the video, it’s a pretty fast draw. An inexperienced shooter managed an average time of 1.5 seconds from draw to shoot using a .380. It’s also highly concealable, the holster covers everything except the pistol grip in a kydex shell, and it fits any conventional bra size. Anything that combines boobs and firearms in a positive manner is alright by me.

You can purchase one from Onedelta 89 on eBay.

Unabomber’s Trick Shoes Up For Auction

Saturday, May 14th, 2011

This is an image of the Unabomber’s shoes, which appear to have Chuck Taylor soles used as false bottoms to throw off any potential trails. They’re up for grabs, along with many of his other personal effects, through the U.S. Marshals’ Auction, which will run from May 18th through June 2nd. The proceeds of this auction will go to compensating the Unabomber’s victims.

The auction will be held on gsaauctions.gov.

LEGO De Lisle Carbine

Saturday, May 14th, 2011

This is a custom made LEGO accessory of the De Lisle carbine, a British weapon that saw limited use in WWII due to very low production numbers, best known for its extremely effective, yet very large, suppressor. It was made by JONATHAN ELDRIDGE, a user on MOCpages.

Modern Warfare 3 Is Coming!

Saturday, May 14th, 2011

Hell, yes. I’m not expecting much realism, especially based on what I read from this leaked plot, but maybe MW3 can make up for Black Ops’ (mostly) anachronistic armory. Just give me that, Infinity Ward! And Sledgehammer games… And Raven Software… Screw the story, I’d just really like to see the AK-74m for once in a Modern Warfare game.

Expect plenty more info at E3 and the months leading up to November. I can guarantee it’ll be released then.

Blackhawk! Advanced Boonie Hat

Friday, May 13th, 2011

It’s the classic Boonie hat design, but with a few modern features added by Blackhawk! to appeal to the modern warrior. The hat itself is 50/50 NYCO with a self fabric brim lining and self fabric side-band branch loops. It includes mesh side vents and crown lining, and a hidden mesh map pocket. A square VELCRO loop on the crown allows for attachment of badges and other materials, and a drawstring with rear cordlock can be used as a chinstrap or cinching cord. The DM3 Desert Digital camo model is shown above, but MultiCam is also available, which I happen to own. It’s a very good Boonie, although I suggest going a half-size above what you normally wear for a hat, otherwise it could be a bit tight.

German News Channel Mistakes Star Trek Maquis Emblem For Actual SEAL Team Six Emblem

Friday, May 13th, 2011

German news channel N24 confused the actual emblem of SEAL Team Six with an emblem made by a member of Maquis Forces International, a Star Trek fan organization based on the Maquis, itself an organization featured in The Next Generation*, Deep Space Nine*, and Voyager*. Based simply on how cool it looks, I could see why N24 would settle with the (unintentional) imposter emblem. However, the inclusion of a phaser, a Klingon skull, bat’leth swords, ‘SEALS’ instead of ‘SEAL’, and the word Maquis should have been enough evidence to point towards some kind of error. After all, SEAL Team Six did use the HK416 in the Bin Laden takedown, so proper recognition from a German news channel isn’t uncalled for. It’s still funny, though.

*These are all Star Trek series that nobody cares about.

You can see more on the story here.

Major tip of the hat to David Liu for bringing this to my attention.

Major Flashbang Training Fail!

Friday, May 13th, 2011

Norwegian troops with G3 variant rifles were training when the throw man doesn’t quite make it with his flashbang. This is exactly the kind of thing training is for, and hey, they got a good laugh out of it. I know I did :).

Batman Captured In Michigan

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

A comic geek dressed as Batman decided to go full-on vigilante in Michigan, but was caught by police early yesterday morning while hanging off the ledge of a building. Although his climbing skills weren’t up to snuff, he was prepared to rumble: besides a utility belt that contained a collapsible baton and a can of pepper spray, he was also rocking a pair of lead-lined gloves. No information on him having any batarangs or world-class martial arts skills, I regret to say. Because of his obviously beneficial service to the community, he was charged with possession of dangerous weapons in addition to trespassing. Just goes to show you how dangerous, under-trained idiots get very little respect these days. Or antiperspirant for that matter.

Buy An AC, Get A Shotgun

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

Free shotgun with A/C repair: MyFoxTAMPABAY.com

If you’re in need of a new Remington 870, a new AC, and you live in or near Plant City, Florida, then you’re in luck. Struggling United Electrical Systems of Plant City has recently started a promotion where if you purchase and have a 15 seer Air Conditioning system installed by the company, you qualify to receive a free Remington 870, provided you pass the mandatory background check. The promotion was started to benefit both United Electrical Systems and the owner’s other store, a licensed gun shop, Shoot-N-Irons. Any customers that don’t qualify to receive the shotgun will have a charitable donation made in their name. It’s not the most original promotion, but if it helps them drum up more business, then more power to them.

Badger Ordnance is now offering a charging handle for all those left-handed shooters out there. The Badger Ordnance Left Handed Tactical Charging Handle is mil-spec with mil-spec black anodized coating and weighs in at a light 1.45 oz.
