Assassin’s Creed Replica Hidden Blade Vambrace

Friday, July 6th, 2012

NECA is releasing a replica of the hidden blade as used by Ezio Auditore da Firenze in the Assassin’s Creed series of video games. Made of PVC and ABS plastics, it’s highly detailed with a surprisingly quick spring loaded action that launches the roughly 15″ plastic blade with the push of a button; a safety lock mechanism helps to prevent any unwarranted deployments of said blade. An adjustable buckle and Velcro straps keep the replica secure on the user’s wrist. It’s available exclusively through GameStop and will be released October 30th of this year. There’s also a video the pre-order site, so you can see it in action.

Drive A Tank

Thursday, July 5th, 2012

I first heard about Drive A Tank on NPR of all things, and the idea, while familiar, intrigued me: a company that specializes in recreational tank driving. Of course, we’ve already written about Armourgeddon Tank Paintball, and if the interview on NPR is any indication this is the very company that inspired the creation of Drive A Tank. Drive A Tank, however, is located in Kasota, Minnesota instead of Leicestershire, England, so it’s a bit more realistic that our CONUS-based readers would be able to make a visit.

Drive A Tank offers progressively pricier package deals which allow for the operation of the following vehicles: the FV 433 Abbott, FV432 APC, and Chieftain Main Battle Tank, which is used mainly to crush cars in the appropriately named “single car crush” or “double car crush” packages. Each deal includes a safety and introduction class and a hands on tour and photo op. Each package also comes with the opportunity to test fire from their collection of historic firearms in an indoor fire range.

LEGO Portal Set

Wednesday, July 4th, 2012

Tactical Fanboy loves the video games of Valve. So, when the chance to have a LEGO set, or three, made that’s based on the brilliant and justifiably popular ‘Portal’ series of games, we’re totally behind the effort. Using LEGO CUUSOO, where an idea and 10,000 supporters can turn almost any project into an official LEGO set (with 1% of net profits going to the creators), Brickthing has introduced 3 unique designs for LEGO sets based on ‘Portal’: GLaDOS’ Chamber, Modular Testing Chamber, and Portal Puzzle Board Game. The project’s only about 3,000 votes away from becoming reality, so chances are good it’ll be made. This is great news, considering that we already bought the Minecraft set created as a result of CUUSOO.

Thanks for Having Balls as Big as Church Bells

It took some nuts to tell mother England to get stuffed. I want to thank the Signers of the Declaration of Independence for showing some ‘nads. We owe it to you guys.

This article was originally posted on SSD, and we reposted it because it’s so perfectly worded.

Happy 4th, everybody!

SPP-1 Underwater Pistol

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012

The SPP-1 is a Cold War-era firearm of Russian make, designed specifically for use by Soviet Frogmen. It fires 4.5mm steel darts from four individual barrels. The pistol uses a double action firing mechanism and fires each barrel one at at time, with the striker (mounted on a rotating base) rotating to each barrel as the trigger is pulled. Also developed was the Avtomat Podvodnyi Spetsialnyi, an underwater assault rifle that fired 5.66mm darts and was fed using a 26-round detachable box magazine. Of course, the Soviets weren’t unique in their development of multi-barreled underwater firearms: the Underwater Defense Gun Mark 1 Mod 0 and H&K P11 were designed and used by the United States and allied nations for similar purposes.
