People like to imagine elaborate scenarios such as U.S. Special Forces tampering with ammo. I think it much more likely that this haji experienced a squib round which was then impacted by the livelier one following it.
Unfortunately, the result wasn’t as catastrophic for the shooter as one would like.
That was the general consensus of opinion on another site I frequent, SF planting tampered ammunition… ‘Jarked’ seems to ring a bell

Lightfighter, google Jarked ammunition, it’s something we Brits did in NI…..
I don’t know any SF operators that have time to waste ‘jarking’ individual AK rounds.
Exploding, fouling, or trapping entire caches, yes.
Hmmm could have sworn I suggested SF planting the already jarked ammunition……
