This interesting video from 1950 shows how lead shot for shotshells used to be made in a shot tower in Edmonton, Greater London. Shot Towers were in use for making lead shot since the late 18th century, although this process has largely been supplanted with modern manufacturing techniques, such as the Bliemeister method.
