Meg Turney – Princess Leia Photo Shoot

Sunday, March 18th, 2012

Check out this video of Meg Turney cosplaying as Pricness Leia for a shoot at Gentle Giant Studios. FYI, there’s a bit of crass language and suggestive dialogue, so this one’s probably better off not seen while at work.

TacHacker – Articulated Street Sign Armor

Saturday, December 24th, 2011

Looking to perfect that Mad Max or Fallout cosplay? Then you might want to follow the example of Ivan Owen and build a set of street sign armor. Although the exact details are scarce, the piece was constructed from forming street signs using an anvil and ball peen hammer and affixing said signs to a belt harness. Mr. Owen also has an Etsy store where it’s entirely possible you can commission said armor, provided your smithing skills aren’t up to snuff.

Army Commando Costume

Friday, September 30th, 2011

Available at Target, the boy’s Army Command Costume consists of two pieces, the uniform and helmet. It’s made from 70% polyester and is available in small, medium and large sizes. My favorite aspect of this costume is the ‘Army’ tag; it’s a nice touch that lets other people know: “Yes, I am pretending to be an Army Commando this fine Halloween’s night. Candy, please!” There’s also something familiar about the camouflage that I can’t quite put my finger on…

Thanks to Gordon from Indy for the tip.

Batman Captured In Michigan

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

A comic geek dressed as Batman decided to go full-on vigilante in Michigan, but was caught by police early yesterday morning while hanging off the ledge of a building. Although his climbing skills weren’t up to snuff, he was prepared to rumble: besides a utility belt that contained a collapsible baton and a can of pepper spray, he was also rocking a pair of lead-lined gloves. No information on him having any batarangs or world-class martial arts skills, I regret to say. Because of his obviously beneficial service to the community, he was charged with possession of dangerous weapons in addition to trespassing. Just goes to show you how dangerous, under-trained idiots get very little respect these days. Or antiperspirant for that matter.
