One of the most iconic police cars in the US, the Crown Victoria, is finally being retired by Ford. Although the Crown Vic wasn’t available from licensed dealers since 2008, Ford continued to sell to police departments until this year. The cars Ford is replacing the Crown Vic with? A Tarus variant and the Explorer SUV. Commence laughing at any time; the Tarus sucks. Some good news comes from this though, since I’ll no longer have to wonder if any old dudes rocking Crown Vics on the highway are just playing cop or really driving an unmarked car.

I think you’ll be a little more than surprised at the new Taurus.
Yeah. My department went out to loo at a demo of the new Interceptor (“Taurus variant”) was quite impressive. It’s not a variant, so much as a purpose-built police vehicle based on the Taurus chassis.
The “Taurus” is not a taurus. It is a purpose built police interceptor that will not be available to the public. It has nothing in common with the taurus other than shap. And the V6 with ECO boost will out perform the V8 dodge charger.
Thanks for clearing up any misconceptions. Police Taurus =/= crap Taurus.
I should point out though, that my Dept. decided on the new Chevy.
I have been driving a Crown Vic for most of my 16 years in Law Enforcement, I can not deny that the Crown Vic was bad ass! I was a happy kid when I would get a new Crown Vic every two years! now i have been given the new Ford.I can say this new Ford is made for Law Enforcement through and through! Ford knew that they would have a hard time selling this new car to cops, but they did it right and put a lot of LE tech into it! great car! pluse it is sick fast!
