Hooray! Hollywood is completely missing the point of the book being an account of a world recovering from a massive zombie war as told from the perspective of multiple people. Instead, they’ve turned it into a generic modern zombie flick with a god-like-solve-all-problems solo protagonist in Brad Pitt! I’m totally sure it’s a way better story.

Aw, man. Another great idea ruined. And I was excited to see a different take on zombies in a flick…like you said looks pretty formulaic now. Any why the 28 Days Later Rage-like running zombies? I guess the director thought viewers would be bored with slow moving slogging walkers? sigh, I’ll wait for Redbox now.
As soon as I heard the words “Brad Pitt” I knew the book was toast, it bounces around from person to person. It’s story focuses on the zombie war per se much more than the recovery, it’s just written as a history done from interviews during the time of recovery, but there are hardly any people who are in more than one or two chapters. Basically the film keeps the title and “hey zombies” and discards the rest. Too bad, that book would make a good movie or miniseries or something. I blogged a bit on the book movie connection here: World War Z
