The SHOT Show Media Day at the Range had a lot of great offerings, but S.W.O.R.D. International’s MK-18 Mod 0 ‘Mjölnir’ really stood out.
The Mjölnir is a semi-auto, gas piston rifle chambered for .338 Lapua. It features a 22″ Lothar Walther button rifled, black nitride coated barrel. The upper receiver is SWORD CNC machined out of 7075-T6 aluminum; proprietary lines reduce felt vibration, and a unique brass deflector kicks brass forward and away. The lower receiver is also SWORD CNC machined from 7075-T6 aluminum. The proprietary bolt carrier is black nitride coated. The Mjölnir also features a heavy buffer and return spring, non-reciprocating side charging handle, CMC enhanced 3.5lbs trigger, and full length free floating KeyMod rail system.
Sadly, I didn’t get a chance to shoot this beast – it was display only. There’s also plans to release a .308 variant further down the road.

The MK18 has a Double stack 10 round magazine. The rifle weighs roughly 11.5 lbs. Optional forward assist. The rifle is considerably smaller and lighter than the Noreen 338.
Have you seen the sword in person yet. What would you choose noreen or the sword?
