Pop Culture Shock Toys has this awesome 1/4 Scale Judge Dredd statue, based on his look in the 2012 movie DREDD. Seen above is the Comic Exclusive version, which retains the movie look but with the judge uniform colorway featured in the comic series.
If you haven’t seen ‘DREDD’ yet, it’s a damn fine movie adaption of Judge Dredd (it’s on Netflix) and I highly recommend it. Karl Urban, who played the title character, made this video to remind the fans that they’re hard at work at getting a sequel made, and there’s a petition working towards that goal.
I’m a big fan of 2000 A.D., and by extension Judge Dredd, so when I found out Hollywood is making a second attempt at a Dredd movie, I was quite a bit skeptical. After all, the last movie, staring Sylvester Stallone, isn’t exactly known as the greatest comic-book-to-big-screen conversion ever (Sly took the helmet off, dammit! Dredd never takes off the helmet!). While we can only wait until the movie is released in theaters, a bit of cheesy dialogue and a look that’s quite a bit different than the source material, although that’s not necessarily a bad thing, isn’t raising my hope that this movie will be anything but bad. On the plus side, there’s plenty of action and Dredd (Played by Karl Urban; YYMV on this choice) doesn’t take the helmet off!
