BLOOMFIELD, New York (May 21, 2014) – The standard for break barrel airgun performance changes today with the announcement from Crosman Corporation that new Benjamin Trail rifles featuring the groundbreaking Nitro Piston 2 powerplant and Clean Break Trigger (CBT™) technology are now shipping. First revealed at SHOT Show to wide acclaim, the highly anticipated new generation of airguns deliver more speed and more power with incredible accuracy, all while being up to ten pounds easier to cock.
“We can’t wait for shooters, hunters and airgun enthusiasts to get their hands on a Nitro Piston 2-powered Trail from Benjamin,” said Jennifer Lambert, Vice President of Marketing for Crosman. “The ease of use, power and accuracy will change everything you thought you knew about break barrel airguns.”
Nitro Piston 2 reinvents the gas piston technology first brought to market by Crosman five years ago. Friction and wasted energy have been minimized with patent-pending Tail Guides and Recoil Arrest, resulting in a system that is the most advanced ever found in a break barrel air rifle. “The new Benjamin Trail rifles drive 30% more air into the chamber, resulting in speeds 55% faster than coiled spring powered airguns and double the effective range of simple gas piston powered guns,” said Jesse Caster, Product Manager. “The CBT is an adjustable two-stage trigger system that pulls smoothly and breaks clean. It’s the best break barrel trigger we’ve ever made.”
The new Benjamin Trail rifles are available in .177 and .22 and feature a rifled steel barrel, industry leading sound suppression, sling mounts, integrated Picatinny rail and include a CenterPoint® 3-9×32 mm scope with mounts.
The .22 caliber shoots up to 1200 feet per second (fps) with 26 foot pounds of energy (fpe) and is capable for turkeys and fox up to 40 yards. The .22 is available with a hardwood stock or a synthetic stock and has an MSRP of $350. It is also available with a Realtree® Xtra camouflage finish with an MSRP of $380.
The .177 caliber has velocities up to an astounding 1400 fps with 21 fpe. It is suitable for target shooting and is effective on rabbits up to 40 yards and squirrels at 60 yards. The .177 is available with a synthetic stock and has an MSRP of $350.
