CROSMAN CORPORATION RESPONDS TO ATA POSITION STATEMENT ON AIRBOWS

Monday, July 25th, 2016

Crosman Airbow

BLOOMFIELD, New York (JULY 25, 2016) Since its introduction in January, Crosman Corporation’s Benjamin® Pioneer Airbow® has captured the attention of rifle hunters seeking a safe and efficient entry into the exciting world of bowhunting, and crossbow owners who are drawn to it for its safe and uncomplicated operation. The Archery Trade Association (ATA) recently issued a negative position statement on the Airbow® that contained misstatements about this revolutionary hunting weapon.

Contrary to what the ATA has stated, Crosman Corporation does pay the required excise tax that goes towards conservation efforts supported by Pittman Robertson funds. Although pneumatic weapons are currently exempt from this tax, the arrows used by the Airbow® are subject to the tax. Additionally, because Crosman wants to support conservation efforts along with firearms manufacturers and other archery companies, Crosman is proactively pursuing the removal of the tax exemption for certain large bore pneumatic weapons, including the Airbow®.

The Airbow® may not meet the ATA’s definition of “pure” archery equipment; however, hunters that currently use archery weapons and firearms continue to petition their state wildlife and legislative leaders to make it a legal alternative to use in their preferred seasons. Consumers are drawn to the Airbow® because its performance compares closely to, if not exceeds, most crossbows. Furthermore, both consumers and state officials that have experienced the capabilities of the Airbow® firsthand recognize it as a safe alternative to crossbows.

Professional hunter Jim Shockey stated it best in explaining his support of the Pioneer Airbow®:

“Despite equipment innovations over the years, we hunters have learned to coexist. I believe we’ve become more accepting of each other, no matter what type of hunting tool we choose. And this is a good thing for the future of our hunting heritage. As hunting equipment manufacturers have innovated, the hunting market has grown, more people have jobs in our industry, and wild places and wild animals are better off. More hunters mean more dollars for wildlife conservation.”

Two hundred years ago an airgun helped lead the expansion of the West as part of the Lewis & Clark Corps of Discovery expedition. Today, Crosman Corporation continues the exploration of new territory with pneumatic power and the Airbow® is leading the way.

CROSMAN ANNOUNCES NATIONAL FIELD TARGET COMPETITION SERIES

BLOOMFIELD, New York (August 14, 2015) Crosman Corporation, the world leader in the design and manufacture of airguns for hunting, recreation and competitive shooting, has partnered with the American Airgun Field Target Association (AAFTA) to create the Crosman National Field Target Series. The Series is open to AAFTA participants using Crosman or Benjamin rifles and pistols in competition and will kick off in October with the start of the 2015-16 season.

“The Crosman National Series is an exciting points competition that recognizes participation while rewarding performance,” said Chip Hunnicutt, Marketing Manager for Crosman. “Crosman has hosted the USA’s second largest field target event for the past six years and the CNS is a natural evolution of the company’s support of this fun and exciting sport.”

AAFTA sanctions events across the country, all conducted by Member Clubs and featuring divisions and classes for a variety of shooting styles. Shooters must successfully knock down targets placed at ranges from 10 to 55 yards with kill zones from 3/8” to 1.5” in diameter. Larger regional matches are featured in the AAFTA Grand Prix and the season culminates late in the year with the AAFTA National Championship. Participants in the Crosman National Series will rank based upon their cumulative scores throughout the year with bonus points awarded for shooting in Grand Prix events, the National Championship and the Crosman All-American Field Target Championship.

“Field Target is not unlike 3-D Archery or Golf in that every course is different and that’s a major draw for folks looking for an alternative to punching paper on a range,” says Hunnicutt. “Crosman products are popular for their affordability, accuracy and overall performance, all reasons why they’re a great choice for field target competition.”

The Crosman National Series will offer AAFTA Member Clubs access to featured products to boost their local shooting programs and additional discounts for advertising their events. The top three finishers in the Rifle and Pistol disciplines will be awarded product gift certificates and free entry to the Crosman All-American.

“Crosman has supported AAFTA for many years and we are excited to have an industry leader step up to help grow the sport of Field Target,” said Leo Duran, AAFTA Chairman. “This program will benefit our members and match participants, so we invite shooters of all levels to come out and try Field Target!”

Crosman Corporation Announces Availability Of Nitro Piston 2

Wednesday, May 21st, 2014

BLOOMFIELD, New York (May 21, 2014) – The standard for break barrel airgun performance changes today with the announcement from Crosman Corporation that new Benjamin Trail rifles featuring the groundbreaking Nitro Piston 2 powerplant and Clean Break Trigger (CBT™) technology are now shipping. First revealed at SHOT Show to wide acclaim, the highly anticipated new generation of airguns deliver more speed and more power with incredible accuracy, all while being up to ten pounds easier to cock.

Nitro2

“We can’t wait for shooters, hunters and airgun enthusiasts to get their hands on a Nitro Piston 2-powered Trail from Benjamin,” said Jennifer Lambert, Vice President of Marketing for Crosman. “The ease of use, power and accuracy will change everything you thought you knew about break barrel airguns.”

Nitro Piston 2 reinvents the gas piston technology first brought to market by Crosman five years ago. Friction and wasted energy have been minimized with patent-pending Tail Guides and Recoil Arrest, resulting in a system that is the most advanced ever found in a break barrel air rifle. “The new Benjamin Trail rifles drive 30% more air into the chamber, resulting in speeds 55% faster than coiled spring powered airguns and double the effective range of simple gas piston powered guns,” said Jesse Caster, Product Manager. “The CBT is an adjustable two-stage trigger system that pulls smoothly and breaks clean. It’s the best break barrel trigger we’ve ever made.”

The new Benjamin Trail rifles are available in .177 and .22 and feature a rifled steel barrel, industry leading sound suppression, sling mounts, integrated Picatinny rail and include a CenterPoint® 3-9×32 mm scope with mounts.

The .22 caliber shoots up to 1200 feet per second (fps) with 26 foot pounds of energy (fpe) and is capable for turkeys and fox up to 40 yards. The .22 is available with a hardwood stock or a synthetic stock and has an MSRP of $350. It is also available with a Realtree® Xtra camouflage finish with an MSRP of $380.

The .177 caliber has velocities up to an astounding 1400 fps with 21 fpe. It is suitable for target shooting and is effective on rabbits up to 40 yards and squirrels at 60 yards. The .177 is available with a synthetic stock and has an MSRP of $350.
