Bullet vs Prince Rupert’s Drop at 150,000 fps

Friday, December 30th, 2016

YouTube Channel ‘Smarter Every Day‘ made up a video testing whether a .22 bullet was capable of shattering a Prince Rupert’s Drop, and recorded it a 150,000 fps using a high-speed camera.

Spoiler: the drop breaks, but it’s more to do with the resulting vibration caused by the bullet hitting the drop rather than the actual impact from the bullet.

Interesting, ain’t it?

True 42 Performance MTN DEW/LOST CAMO XD Cooler

Wednesday, December 21st, 2016

Let’s be blunt: there’s definitely some overlap between the demographic that consumes Mountain Dew soda, and the demographic that owns a fair bit of products covered in hunting camouflage. Still, it’s a bit surreal to see the MD logo plastered on Lost Camo XD pattern camouflage, even if that logo is also logically plastered on a cooler. Then again, this is the soda that had a licensing deal with Kryptek a while back.

Gentle Giant Studios – Death Trooper Specialist PGM Classic Mini Bust

Tuesday, December 20th, 2016

If you’re a Gentle Giant Premier Guild member (which amounts to an $80/yr fee), then you can purchase one of these Death Trooper Specialist Classic Mini Busts. Made of hand-painted polyresin, this 1:6 scale bust depicts the Imperial Intelligence elite unit Death Trooper. More than anything else, though, I appreciate that the Death Trooper is wearing what appears to be some kind of chest rig.

ThinkGeek – Star Wars Millennium Falcon Multi-Tool Kit

Saturday, December 17th, 2016

I like multitools. I like Star Wars. Still, this feels like a line that just didn’t need to be crossed; two things that honestly had no logic to be combined. I’m talking about ThinkGeek’s officially-licensed Millennium Falcon Multi-Tool kit. Shaped like everyone’s favorite smuggler’s ship, this particular multitool comes complete with four hex keys, two screwdrivers, and an adjustable wrench.

If they’ll make the Millennium Falcon into a multitool, when’s ‘Star Wars’ the flamethrower?

Marvel Now! Agent Venom ARTFX+ Figurine

Friday, December 16th, 2016

No, Marvel isn’t doing a series of tacticool re-imagining figures of their classic franchise characters. Rather, this is an Agent Venom figurine under the Kotobukiya ARTFX+ line. Long story short, Flash Thompson has the Venom symbiote and he’s using it to fight America’s enemies as a special agent. Anyway, this highly detailed and poseable figurine is currently available for pre-order.

A3 Tactical – Double Picatinny Clamp

Thursday, December 15th, 2016

This little device is A3 Tactical’s Double Picatinny Clamp. As the name implies, the Double Picatinny Clamp is designed to mount one Picatinny rail to another, providing, as A3 states, “virtually limitless possibilities… only limited by your imagination” in regards to accessories, guns, and gear featuring Picatinny-spec rails, at least. It’s CNC machined from 6061 aluminum, and its design prevents fore/aft movement of the rails, as well as preventing marring of your rails thanks to dowels that are machined slightly taller than the industry-standard Picatinny groove.

Of course, A3’s Double Picatinny Clamp does also give you the option to attach entire firearms to one another, creating combinations such as this:

For those who don’t remember, NERF’s Rebelle line is a series of dart blasters and accessories aimed principally at the young girl market. It also happens to have some of the more unique blasters to come out in recent memory, such as the CornerSight blaster. Possibly inspired by the Israeli CornerShot weapon system, the NERF CornerSight features a barrel that can bend left or right, as well as mirrors that allow the shooter to fire around corners. The CornerSight fires 1 dart at a time, and can hold a total capacity of 4 darts, with storage for 2 additional darts.
