Bang Saber: Flashbang for civilian use (that you can buy online)

Tuesday, June 6th, 2023

The “Bang Saber” is a flashbang for civilian use. It might not be quite as effective as a military or LE Noise Flash Diversionary Device (NFDD), but it has the distinct advantage of being both a reusable and a civilian legal flashbang. Here is the release.

TS Bang Saber Civilian Flash Bang

St. Peters, MO

For Immediate Release

If you’ve ever thrown an M-84 or CTS 9-Banger at your day job, you will like those. If you’ve ever banged somebody within an FPS game, you will like these. Fact is, whether you’re going FISHing (Fighting In Someone’s House) or trying to liven up a boring cotillion, you’re going to like these.

Bang Saber

Local warlords: buy flashbangs online!

The TS Bang Saber 2.0 civilian legal reusable flashbang is manufactured for Tactical Sh!t by Helius Engineering. It’s for training, “distracting,” or just for fun. The 2.0 bangs just as hard as its predecessor but is now slimmer and much lighter. Ounces equal pounds, and pounds equal pain… especially when you’re banging someone.

Bang Saber

The Bang Saber is made in the USA. It utilizes a 12 gauge or 9mm blank or a 209 primer for ignition. Just load the blank or primer into the body, remove the pin, and toss the device where you want it.

You’ll get a bright flash, some smoke, and an approximate “bang” noise around the 120-160db level. The exact amount of candela and decibels will depend on the type of blank used.

Here are a few things to know about the Saber flashbang for civilian use:

  • No training or certification need to purchase (buy flashbangs online!).
  • Limited numbers are available due to manufacturer difficulty with materials: if they’re out when you try to buy one, sign up for notifications.
  • Must sign a liability waiver to purchase.

12 Gauge Blanks

The Bang Saber ignites using a blank cartridge like these 12 gauge blanks. It will also use 9mm blanks.

Flash/Sound Diversionary Devices

Capt. John Kolman, Ret. (LAPD D Platoon SWAT) and Cmdr Sid Heal, Ret (LACSD Special Enforcement Bureau) defined an NFDD in a paper for the Justice Department, as you’ll read below. Contrary to the common vernacular, it is not a “flash bang grenade.” It could not be a grenade in the traditional sense and still be labeled a less lethal device.

What is a flashbang? “A flash/bang diversionary device produces a loud bang with a brilliant light that is intended to cause confusion and distraction to provide a tactical team with a few seconds of advantage.”

That’s what the Bang Saber does. Get your hands on one or a few!

Introducing Strike Industries’… Golf Ball Launcher?!

Monday, January 9th, 2023
FORE, introducing the Strike Industries OPPRESSOR Golf Ball Launcher. The golf ball launcher is based on their OPPRESSOR blast shield muzzle device. This Golf Ball Launcher is a device that attaches to your blaster and allows you to launch golf balls using blanks into orbit. Well, maybe not orbit, but it’s fun to think about. Here’s some of what they had to say about it in their official release!

Revision and Fast Metal’s Speed Demon Metal Sunglasses with I-Vis Lens Tech

Friday, January 6th, 2023

Two powerhouses in the world of eyewear have joined forces to create a product that’s sure to make waves. Revision Military, a leading producer of protective eyewear, has spent years perfecting their ballistic protective lenses. At the same time, Fast Metal has been focusing on creating premium made-in-USA aluminum sunglasses. And now, they’re ready to unveil their latest collaboration to the world. But first, let’s take a closer look at the official press release.

The Official Release

Revision Military, a leading producer of protective eyewear, has spent years developing best-in-class ballistic protective lenses. Similarly, Fast Metal and its founder have spent that time developing premium made-in-USA aluminum sunglasses. With this collaboration announcement, the two companies have combined what they are truly experts in to create the Revision Speed Demon metal sunglasses with Revision’s new I-Vis lens technology. These sunglasses bring together state-of-the-art lens technology with a sleek, stylish frame.

Fast Metal was built on over 35 years of experience in manufacturing the highest quality metal sunglasses by its founder, Ken Wilson. As the pioneer of the aluminum sunglass industry, Ken created the first patented 27-step procedure for manufacturing high-quality aluminum frames. Today, Fast Metal is proud to offer the world’s first and best aluminum sunglass and eyewear protection system featuring field-replaceable lenses.

Over the past 20 years, Revision has become the proven supplier of military protective eyewear to NATO forces worldwide. This new partnership with Fast Metal is a powerful relationship combining military and tactical industry expertise with the best aluminum sunglass design. The goal – is to create an eyewear protection system that customers not only need but want.

“At Revision, we believe in the power of partnerships and collaborations in bringing new and exciting technology to end-users quickly,” said Revision CEO Amy Coyne. “Our new I-Vis lens technology delivers enhanced visual performance, and we needed an everyday sunglass platform to offer protection, style, and performance. We believe this collab is just the beginning of our partnership with Ken and the Fast Metal team.”

So what’s so special about these new Revision Speed Demon Sunglasses?

Well, first, the frame is entirely made out of aluminum 7075 allow, which provides ANSI Z87.1 protection.

Second, it is available with Revision’s new I-Vis lens technology. This technology is an advanced dye formulation process resulting in a new series of lens tints that markedly enhance visual performance. More than a single solution, I-Vis lenses are available in six tints, each optimized for use in a different environment. Each tint is designed to increase contrast and elevate color recognition in specific geographic regions, doing so without the negative effects associated with traditional monochromatic lens tints. These Speed Demon lenses also come with Revision’s OcuMax anti-fog and scratch coating and are field replaceable.

Revision I-Vis

Finally, all frames and lenses are made in the USA; frames are made by Fast Metal in Yuma, Arizona, and lenses are made by Revision in Essex Junction, Vermont. The product is available for sale today at www.revisionmilitary.com and coming soon to Revision’s network of dealers and distributors around the globe.

Ruger 10/22 Bolt Upgrade from Faxon Firearms

Wednesday, December 14th, 2022

There are many parts that make up a 10/22 rifle, and each one of them plays an important role. However, the most critical component of the Ruger is the bolt.

The trigger may be what initiates every shot, but it’s the bolt that’s responsible for the shot-to-shot operation.

A high-quality bolt affects more than just reliability. The bolt face, its consistency, and how the firing pin strikes the bullet significantly contribute to the rifle’s accuracy.

Faxon Stainless Steel Bolt Assembly for 10/22

Whether you’re building up a new gun or keeping an old favorite running, the Faxon 10/22 Bolt Assembly is the best choice.

Ruger 1022 Bolt

Compatible with the OEM receiver, trigger group, charging handle, and bolt stop pin, the Faxon 10/22 bolt is fully assembled and ready to drop into your Ruger 10/22.

Specs

  • Material: 17-4 PH Stainless steel, H900
  • Hardness: HRC 40 – 47
  • Round Firing Pin
  • Sharp Extractor

Why Upgrade a 10/22 Bolt?

Upgrading the bolt improves reliability and accuracy on any 10/22 rifle.

A high-quality bolt such as the one from Faxon Firearms is properly radiused and polished to enhance the reliability of the cyclic action.

Ruger 1022 Bolt

Additionally, the Faxon 10/22 bolt has the proper head spacing in order to improve the reliability of the bullets feeding from the magazine into the chamber.

Lastly, proper firing pin protrusion ensures optimal striking of the rimfire case.

Ruger 1022 Bolt

For these reasons, upgrading your 10/22 bolt does have its advantages.

All these small gains add up to overall reliability, consistent performance, and improved accuracy.

Does The Ruger 10/22 Have a Bolt Hold Open?

Out of the box in the stock configuration, the Ruger 10/22 does not have a last-round bolt hold open feature.

Ruger 1022 Bolt

To add the bolt hold open feature, you need a third-party upgrade such as the CST Auto Bolt Stop.

What is a 10/22 Bolt Buffer?

A bolt buffer replaces/upgrades the bolt stop pin in your 10/22 receiver. The OEM bolt stop pin is made from steel, whereas the bolt buffer is made from a polymer material.

Over time the steel bolt stop pin can cause micro-cracks in the receiver due to repeated impacts of the bolt during shooting. The bolt buffer mitigates that and several other issues by being manufactured out of a polymer material.

There are three main benefits of replacing the bolt stop pin with a bolt buffer.

  1. It reduces the sound when the bolt slams rearward during the cycling action during shooting. This is also a benefit when shooting suppressed as it greatly reduces the noise signature even more.
  2. The 10/22 blowback action is less shaky because of the dampening of the recoil and bolt cycling vibrations.
  3. It can prevent cracks in the 10/22 receiver resulting from prolonged usage, high round count shooting, or the added stress of high-velocity ammo.

The Ruger 10/22 bolt by Faxon includes a bolt buffer to replace the OEM bolt stop pin. If you’re interested in learning more, check out more on the Ruger 10/22 Bolt here.

Shared Features of the Overwatch Tactical Bolt Action Rifles

Let’s go over the commonalities, then the differences; here are the Overwatch 16″ Rifle and 12″ Pistol share these commonalities.

8.6 BLK data chart

Faxon TAC30 Action by Stiller

Stiller Actions has been making premium quality rifle action based on the Remington 700 for years. With customers hunting in the woods, competing at the range, and chasing down enemies of America, Stiller Actions is well known to those who demand quality.

Tac30 Action

  • Designed for Tactical and Long Range Hunting applications
  • Bead Blasted 416 Stainless
  • 90-degree bolt throw
  • Modified M16 extractor, Remington 700 pin-style ejector
  • It fits any Remington 700 short-action inlet stock
  • Accepts AICS pattern mags

The first thing you’ll notice with the Tac 30 action is how amazingly smooth the bolt rides when you run it back and forth. But, of course, you can thank Stiller’s proprietary, double-layer coating for that.

Timney 510 Elite Hunter 510-V2

The Timney Elite Hunter 510-V2 is one of the best triggers on this earth. Zero creep, sharp break; it’s perfection in tangible form.

close up of the faxon overwatch hunter

The Differences Between The Overwatch Tactical Rifles

There are two primary differences between the Overwatch Tactical 12″ and 16″. First, besides the barrel length, the rifle has a buttstock, while the pistol has a stabilizing brace.

First, let’s talk barrel length. Next, here’s a look at the preliminary load data for 8.6 Blackout, as provided by Faxon and Q.

The difference between 12″ and 16″ with Barnes supersonic 160gr is only 150 fps. With Sierra’s 300gr subsonic round, the difference is about 40 fps. With 8.6 Blackout optimized for performance in short barrels, there’s little difference.

Instead, the barrel length (and corresponding brace/stock) is more about personal preference and legality. For example, in some states hunting with pistols is outlawed, regardless of caliber.

There’s also the matter of comfort and terrain. If you’re on the shorter end, you’ll probably opt for the 12″ barrel. This is also true if you spend more time hunting in densely wooded areas.

But if you’re more of an ent who likes hunting in wide open spaces, that modest performance gain in the 16″ barrel combined with the more adjustable B5 stock makes a better platform for most.

Regardless of which barrel length you prefer, it’s clear that Faxon Firearms is swinging for the 8.6 Blackout fences with the Overwatch Tactical and Overwatch Hunter.

Like 8.6 Blackout, but prefer a semi-auto to bolt-action rifles? Read more on Faxon’s Sentinel AR-10 platform rifle.

West Coast Armor | High-Performance Armor

Tuesday, August 30th, 2022

Body Armor used to be cumbersome and expensive, good thing it ain’t 2005 anymore. Happily, West Coast Armor has stepped up to the plate (no pun intended) with its Pure Dyneema and Pure Spectra plates.

In fact, the team at West Coast Armor spent five years on R&D before releasing their first product. They’re not messing around when it comes to the preservation of life.

Person pulling out West coast Armor out of a vest

Who Is West Coast Armor?

The diverse team at West Coast Armor has deep roots in the world of executive protection, military, law enforcement, and the private sector. In addition, the team at West Coast Armor has used and created body armor throughout their individual careers. They know firsthand the benefits and drawbacks of the different types of body armor.

With this knowledge and real-world experience, they achieved what they set out to do. West Coast Armor put five years of research and development, so they could create their industry-leading body armor. They were rewarded with Armor that is lighter, stronger, and more affordable than any others on the market.

What Sets Apart West Coast Armor?

Body Armor and other swat gear sitting together

West Coast Armor uses Pure Dyneema or Pure next-gen Spectra in the construction of its body armor plates.

Hard armor made with pure Dyneema and next-gen Spectra is up to 75% lighter than steel or other traditional armor materials. This is without compromising the level of protection traditional materials provide.

For military, law enforcement, and others working in high-risk environments, hard armor made from Dyneema provides not only maximum protection but also enhances the comfort, maneuverability, and efficiency of the person wearing it.

5 Benefits of Using Dyneema in Body Armor Plates

  1. Constructed from ceramics, compressed laminate sheets, metallic plates, or composites
  2. Designed to deform and capture the bullet upon impact
  3. Absorbs and distributes the kinetic energy of the impact
  4. Protects against NIJ Level III, III+ and works as an excellent backing for ceramics in III++ or IV rifle threats
  5. 75% lighter than steel and 25% lighter than Aramid

Where are West Coast Armor Plates Made?

West Coast Armor promo pic

All raw materials are 100% domestically sourced and made in the USA.

Is West Coast Armor NIJ Certified?

Yes. West Coast Armor is NIJ certified, and all their body armor plates meet or exceed NIJ criteria.

The NIJ conducts independent research on the Ballistic Resistance of Body Armor with the help of the Office of Law Enforcement Standards (OLES). The most important attribute of the NIJ is its ability to remain objective to the industry and only adopt criteria based on scientific research and testing.

This research and testing are designed to save lives and improve the level of justice our law enforcement agencies can provide. This is why every company that wishes to sell body armor in the United States must meet the requirements set forth by the NIJ.

If you’re looking for a company that is selling armor, ensure they can provide an NIJ letter of compliance by doing a simple check on DOJ’s website to see if the company is certified.

West Coast Armor Testimonies

“As a former Police Chief, I believe that one of the most important responsibilities we have is to give the men and women that serve our profession the best equipment to do their job and keep them safe. I’ve seen firsthand the superior quality of the West Coast Armor Body armor in action. I’ve been blessed to witness agencies across the country test West Coast Armor vests and plates, and the outcomes were superior. I recommend to all my colleagues that they reach out to West Coast Armor.” – Donald (Chief of Police Ret.)

“The West Coast Armor level 4 plates are the most well-balanced and comfortable plates I’ve used. After seven combat deployments between Special Operations and Contract work, I can only wish I’d had these issued to me. I have full trust and confidence in their ballistic properties as I’ve seen their performance through more rigorous testing than NIJ requires. These plates have my full endorsement.” – Kyle C.

“As a retired police officer of 23 years working long shifts and jobs from the jail to vice then on to detective. I was always issued uncomfortable, heavy stiff armor. After wearing all types of armor throughout my military and law enforcement carrier, I can say I’ve never seen anything like it. Without question, West Coast Armor makes me want to wear armor again; it’s the lightest, thinnest and strongest armor I’ve ever seen.” – Bob V. Esponisa

Aero Rifle Put up to NIJ testing

Endurance Test

• The test consisted of 10,000 rounds fired in 1,000 round increments.
• The rifle was cleaned and lubricated prior to the beginning of the test.
• It was subsequently lubricated in 1000-round intervals.
• The firing schedule for this rifle consisted of 150-180-round increments from various shooting positions and firing rates.
• There was an 8-12 round cooldown period between firing cycles utilizing a 4’x4′ industrial fan.
• The gas rings of the rifle were replaced at 6,040 rounds.
• A final zeroing test was conducted at around 9,960.

The Aero Precision rifle completed both the NIJ Standards and Endurance Test with zero (0) operational problems.

¹The charging handle lever on the port side broke during the drop testing sequence and the flash-hider and pistol group came loose. None of these issues impacted how the rifle functioned. Loosened parts were re-tightened.

²The T&E optic failed during the drop test; no effect on the rifle test. A second T&E optic also failed. A third T&E optic was used during the endurance firing sequence.

Building on the proven FN 509 platform, FN teamed with tier one operators and world champion pistol shooters, to strategically enhance and purposely combine critical components of the new FN 509 LS Edge. The end result is a handgun that delivers superior versatility, accuracy, control and speed.

Versatility

The FN Low-Profile Optics-Mounting System™, combined with the green fiber optic front sight, allows users to run iron sights and a co-witnessed miniature red dot optic. Quickly mounting a favorite MRD is enabled with four included optic mounting plates. The midsized frame gives users the feel of a full-sized pistol that can still be comfortably concealed. An ambidextrous slide stop and two interchangeable backstraps allow users to further customize the FN 509 LS Edge, matching any hand size.

Accuracy

The five-inch hammer-forged target-crowned barrel delivers unmatched accuracy. With the 6.7-inch Long Slide bearing a 0.040” fiber optic front sight, the extended sight picture improves target acquisition and tracking. Additionally, the green fiber optic front sight co-witnesses with a micro red dot, users instinctively acquire a sight picture after their draw. The duty-rated, flat-faced trigger breaks cleanly at 90 degrees and features a reduced pull weight of around four to five pounds.

Control

Achieving the ideal balance, the 509 LS Edge’s lightening-cut Long Slide compliments the graphite anodized base plates and flared aluminum magazine well, resulting in a flat shooting pistol that racks faster, recovers instantly and tracks perfectly. Maximum control is gained with the frame’s full-height stippling, ensuring a full-contact 360-degree grip, locking into the hands under fire to reduce muzzle flip and control recoil.

Speed

The short take up and positive reset of the flat-faced trigger allows for speedy follow-up shots, while the green fiber optic front sight enables faster target acquisitions and transitions between shots. The flared, graphite anodized aluminum magazine well and weighted base plates of the 17-round magazines make for lightning-fast reloads, getting you back on target faster than ever.

Lipsey’s Goes Back To Where It All Began With Retro P80 9mm Exclusive

Tuesday, September 1st, 2020

So this is actually a pretty cool announcement from Lipsey’s: an exclusive Glock Full Size 9mm pistol styled after the original Austrian Military P80 ‘Gen 1’ service pistol, complete with the accurate ‘tupperware’ case. Despite the likely limited availability of this release, the listed MSRP is only running a bit higher than the most current G17 Gen5, at $670. Yeah, that’s not a break-the-bank price for a poly handgun — especially in today’s market, where 9mm handguns are pretty scarce due to… increased market interest in firearms ownership — but those familiar with the Lipsey’s exclusive Glocks would know that it’ll also be a pain to get a hold of without paying scalper prices, since these are sure to be an ‘allocated’ item with most stores having extremely limited, if any, stock.

Baton Rouge, La.—Lipsey’s, the nation’s premier firearms distributor, has unveiled the new Lipsey’s Exclusive GLOCK P80. A historical reproduction of the original, innovative GLOCK pistol adopted by the Austrian Army in 1982.

In 1981, Gaston Glock assembled a team of engineers and designed his first firearm. The result was submitted to the Austrian Army pistol trials and won the contract in 1982. The Army then designated the first GLOCK as the Pistole 80. These guns were later known commercially as “G17s” and were only available in the US market for two years until the “Gen2” model was introduced in 1988. P80 marked GLOCKs were never imported into the United States.

After its American debut as the GLOCK 17 in 1986, the simple, yet proven, mechanics and materials have remained mainly the same. The original P80 and Gen1 G17 featured non-railed frames with no finger grooves and wrap around pebble grain texturing. Lipsey’s worked with GLOCK to recreate the Gen1 single pin frame and the original flat extractor. The P80 markings are the same font used in 1982. The classic “Tupperware” style container was also re-manufactured for this edition. Each GLOCK P80 includes a commemorative overbox and certificate of authenticity.

The new Lipsey’s Exclusive GLOCK P80 was developed to allow modern GLOCK enthusiasts to acquire a piece of the company’s unique history. The concept began with Jason Cloessner, Lipsey’s Vice President & Product Development Manager, who initiated the collaboration with GLOCK some three years ago. “I have always wanted to do a retro GLOCK pistol. GLOCK took painstaking measures to recreate the original frames and packaging to make this P80 edition as close to the original as we could get. Not only is this edition a great shooter, but it also helps tell the amazing story of how GLOCK came to be.”

Bob Radecki, GLOCK, Inc. National Sales Manager was an instrumental partner in bringing this throwback concept to life. “GLOCK, in conjunction with Lipsey’s, is very pleased to commemorate the adoption of the GLOCK P80 by the Austrian Army with a recreation inspired by the original GLOCK Pistole 80. The P80 was GLOCK’s first pistol and was the catalyst that led to the introduction of the G17, which revolutionized the pistol market and launched GLOCK as the pistol manufacturer trusted around the globe for over 30 years.”

Comp-Tac releases holster fits for the S&W M&P 9 Shield EZ

Tuesday, August 25th, 2020

HOUSTON, Aug. 21, 2020 – Comp-Tac® recently added new Smith & Wesson® M&P® 9 Shield™ EZ® fits for the MTAC™, Infidel Max™, Warrior™, eV2™ and International™ holsters.

These five holsters rank among Comp-Tac’s most popular items. The brand periodically releases new holster fits throughout the year to accommodate more and more gun owners, and to match the ever-growing firearms market.

“Firearm manufacturers continue to expand their product lines with handguns that have additional features and options to fit a wide variety of customers, lifestyles and uses,” said Gordon Carrell, Comp-Tac general manager. “We at Comp-Tac believe in those same ideals and strive to match the varied number of handguns with an equal variation of holsters. Our many holster fits help to meet the needs of customers regardless of carry position, clothing options, lifestyle needs and more.”

The MTAC is a hybrid, inside-the-waistband (IWB) holster that works perfectly for customers who need to tuck their shirt in. The two mounting clips on the MTAC are located on the sides of the holster, allowing a shirt to be tucked in over the gun and holster, leaving only the clips to show for deep concealment.

The Infidel Max Holster is an all-Kydex® IWB holster designed to be worn behind the hip at the 4 o’clock or 5 o’clock positions. With an easy-on, easy-off single clip, this holster is a favorite for users who want the ability to put on their gun or take it off as their environment changes.

The Warrior Holster is an outside-the-waistband holster that was recently tested and recommended by the National Training Officers Association (NTOA). The all-Kydex, pancake design is excellent for concealed carry or general range use.

The eV2 Holster is an appendix inside-the-waistband holster designed for concealed carry. The eV2 includes the Comp-Tac Kick, a piece designed to help press the grip of the gun into the body for better concealment.

The International Holster is an all-Kydex holster with a modular mounting system that includes a belt mount, paddle mount and drop offset piece. The International has been the top holster used at the IDPA nationals for eight years in a row and is an excellent choice for those who want to participate in competitive shooting events or head to the range for some training time.

Viridian Introduces World’s First Hand Stop Laser

Monday, August 3rd, 2020

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – August 1, 2020 – After six decades, the AR-15 is still America’s rifle. The platform’s popularity stems from its speed and ergonomics. Now the venerable rifle design is poised to be even faster and easier to control thanks to Viridian Weapon Technologies’ HS1™, the first and only hand stop with an integrated laser sighting device.

“The HS1 combines the functionality of an AR hand stop with the rapid target acquisition provided by a Viridian green laser,” said Brian Hedeen, President and CEO at Viridian. “The combination makes for a much more ergonomic rifle and cuts down on the attachments that add bulk to a gun’s foregrip.”

Viridian’s new hand stop offers increased control and faster target acquisition with a highly visible green laser that’s intuitively activated by the grip of the shooter’s support hand.

The HS1 uses M-Lok mounts to make installation easy. The laser is adjustable for windage and elevation. The HS1’s pressure pad activates the laser with a variety of support-hand grips, adding an added element of control and speeding up time to target.

This combination of speed and control makes the HS1 an ideal addition to any AR. MSRP for the Viridian HS1 is $179.

Features

  • M-Lok Mounts
  • Pressure Pad Activation
  • Daytime-visible Green Laser
  • Ergonomic Design for Pistols and Rifles
  • Single 1/3n battery
