S&W Has Issued An M&P15-22 Consumer Safety Alert

Tuesday, June 11th, 2019

Smith & Wesson has issued a consumer safety alert on all M&P15-22 rifles and pistols manufactured before February 1st, 2019. S&W has discovered that some recently manufactured 15-22s feature a defect causing a lack of proper depth of the breech face counter bore. This defect can cause a closed bolt to crush the rim of a chambered .22 round, causing it to unintenionally fire, cycling the bolt, and potentially causing multiple discharges without depressing the trigger.

S&W is providing a free bolt inspection gauge which can be ordered by consumers to determine whether their 15-22 is within manufacturer specifications. Alternatively, S&W is also offering consumers the option to send their bolt in for a free inspection, and replacement if necessary.

Since the 15-22 is a pretty popular and affordable plinker, there’s a chance at least a few of you own one, so if that is the case, get it checked out.

Suppressors Legal In Washington

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

The Governor of Washington State, Chris Gregoire, signed HB 1016 into law just yesterday. This effectively allows gun owners to both own and use suppressors with their firearms. While suppressors weren’t illegal to own in Washington State before the bill was passed, using them with a firearm was considered a gross misdemeanor crime. Now, its just as legal to shoot using a suppressor within the state line as it is to own one. The bill will take effect 90 days after adjournment.

Wow, allowing someone to own a suppressor, but not to shoot with it within the same state? Why did it take this long for this bill to exist? Still, better late than never.

Thanks to NRA-ILA for the original story.

Lendy’s Wings For Warriors

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow is Lendy’s Wings For Warriors sponsored by Mission First Tactical.

The location is Lendy’s, 1581 General Booth Boulevard, in Virginia Beach, Virginia from 1400 to 1800. For $20, you can enjoy all-you-can-eat wings, door prizes, and events. If you aren’t in the area, but would still like to contribute to the Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation, then you can buy a Lendy’s Wings For Warriors t-shirt. I’ll be there, and I hope to see plenty of people in attendance.

Edit: I wasn’t able to attend. Boo. Still, from what I hear the event was a success!

^Any opportunity I have to put this scene in an article, I will do it.

PredatorBDU Sends Out First Shipment Of A-TACS Uniforms

Sunday, March 13th, 2011

If the title didn’t give it away, PredatorBDU is already sending out shipments of the new Propper A-TACS uniforms to those who pre-ordered them. This comes out as a pleasant surprise, considering the uniforms weren’t originally available until (at the earliest) March 15th. You can order your own set via the above link.

Big thanks to blog.predatorbdu.com for the original article.

2nd Annual Lendy’s Wings For Warriors

Saturday, March 12th, 2011

Mission First Tactical is once again helping to raise money for the Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation by sponsoring the 2nd Annual Lendy’s Wings for Warriors. For $20, in addition to getting a totally sweet t-shirt, you are also donating to a worthy cause. Seems like a win-win to me. To place an order, send an e-mail to amber@missionfirsttactical.com.

UNICEF’s Gone Guerrilla

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

Imagine you’re walking down the street, minding your own business, when you look down and notice a round sticker stuck to your shoe. You casually take it off and notice on the back there’s the image of a land mine with the words “In many other countries you would now be mutilated. Help the victims of landmines!” This is UNICEF’s latest marketing campaign, and it’s greatly increased both website visitation and donations. It also happens to be going viral, which further attributes towards the program’s success. This simply proves that guerrilla marketing can be highly beneficial, and doesn’t always have to involve Mooninites shutting down Boston.

Gears Of War 3 Beta Access

Friday, March 4th, 2011

Many gamers have questioned how they’ll be able to access the Gears of War 3 beta if they didn’t feel like buying the awesomeness that is Bulletstorm. Well, it’s GameStop to the rescue! If you pre-order, or have pre-ordered, Gears of War 3 from GameStop, you are granted a beta code that will allow you to enter the public beta on April 25th*. The private beta will open up seven days eariler, on April 18th, giving those who gave Bulletstorm a chance a whole week of practice before everyone else joins in.

There are also some in-game bonuses for those who participate in the beta. First, playing one match will unlock the ‘Beta Tester Medal’ for your gamer profile in GoW3. You also have the chance to unlock both the ‘Thrashball Cole’ character model and ‘Gold-Plated Retro Lancer’ just by playing the beta.

You can find all the details at GameStop.com

*Note: At the time of writing, I received an automated phone call from GameStop alerting me to the beta promotion. It also mentioned the public beta starting on April 22nd. Until I can get some more info, consider April 25th to be the official date.

Magpul PTS Masada ACR Mistake

Saturday, February 12th, 2011

In my previous article WOLF’s Den, I claimed in the description that the Magpul PTS Masada ACR was made by ARES Airsoft, drawing this information from the video itself. In the comments section, however, Spartan Imports was kind enough to point an error in this, stating that Magpul PTS fully manufactures this particular airsoft rifle, and ARES Airsoft does not. In addition, Magpul PTS does not want association with ARES Airsoft. This particular bit of misinformation is widely spread, and I thank Spartan Imports for the correction.

If you are interested in purchasing a Magpul PTS Masada ACR you can find a dealer on spartanimports.com where you’ll also find a variety of other airsoft weaponry and accessories.
