OR Open Air Demo – Fitovers
Thursday, August 7th, 2014Since I wear glasses, I really like the Fitovers from Jonathon Paul. I don’t have any sun glasses and these fit over my regular glasses to protect my eyes from the sun. I also like that they come in kids sizes. In fact, they offer X-small, Small, Medium, Large and XLarge for all face sizes. Also, they have many different lens colors. My favorite is the polarized green mirrored but the best one is the yellow which filters out 95% of blue light.

OR Open Air Demo – Kahuna Creations
Wednesday, August 6th, 2014Last year at OR, we bought a Kahuna Creations longboard called the Black Wave. This board is a drop deck used for high performance carving. It’s also low, at an inch from the ground, so anyone could ride the board. I ride it all of the time. When used with the paddle it’s great for off-season Stand Up Paddleboarding and offers an intense upper body and core fitness workout.
But their newest board is the Shaka-kahili which is the board in the upper left of the photo. It is in the shape of a hammock and the board has two high points on the trucks. The Shaka-kahili is mainly used for cruising and has a great stable design.

OR Open Air Demo – Personal Security Products Hike N’ Strike
Wednesday, August 6th, 2014PS Products had two cool items. First was the Blast Knuckles Extreme which packs a punch of 950,000 volts. Not only can you punch someone trying to hurt you, you can also shock them. You just press the button while you are punching them.
I’m a hiker and I often worry about wild animals and dogs who might attack me on the trail. Some people are also dangerous. The Hike n’ Strike includes a flashlight and extreme spike electrodes with 950,000 volts of power to scare anyone or anything off. I like that it has a light to light my way as well as the built in shocker. It also has a non-slip molded group so you won’t lose it.

OR Open Air Demo – Industrial Revolution Softshell Ice Cream Ball
Wednesday, August 6th, 2014One of the most useful things I saw at the event was the new softshell ice cream ball from www.YayLabs.com.
It’s very simple to use and I want to get one for use while camping. The inside of the ball is hollow and you put ice cream mix inside at one end and ice and salt at the other end. Then you just roll it around until the ice cream is made. It looks like lots of fun and the ice cream I tried was awesome.

Sunday, August 3rd, 2014Chances are good you’ve never heard of the Schwarzlose 1908 Blow-Forward pistol. It’s one of only a few blow-forward operation pistols from the late 19th/early 20th century, and saw limited commercial success.
The Venture Bros. – Season 6 Teaser
Saturday, August 2nd, 2014In true teaser fashion all we get is a few flashes of some backgrounds, the promise of a Gargantua-2 special later this year, and…. oh, yeah, a mysterious new man clad all in blue who’s been bumping off members of the Guild of Calamitous Intent. Who could it possibly be?
NERF Zombie Strike Chainsaw
Friday, August 1st, 2014A new addition to the Zombie Strike line, this chainsaw takes an obvious cue from the Lancer in Gears of War, but it’s pretty badass so we’ll forgive ’em. Made of NERF’s trademark foam, it functions as a standalone toy chainsaw, all marked up with battle damage and the like. Pressing the green button on either side will produce chainsaw noises, although the left side also functions as the speaker so unfortunately the sound gets a bit muffled when in use. The coolest feature is its compatibility with the NERF tactical rail, so it can be attached to the forend of any compatible NERF blaster.
The Zombie Strike Chainsaw should be available wherever NERF is sold.
