Venture Bros. Season 5 Teaser Images
Sunday, January 6th, 2013The next season of ‘Venture Bros.’ is well on track, as evidenced with this image, along with many more found at the link below. For the uninitiated, ‘Venture Bros.’ is a deconstruction yet loving parody of ‘Johnny Quest’ and other shows of that era mixed in with plenty of pop culture references and humor, ranging from outright crude to fairly esoteric.

UAV Identification Kit 001
Friday, January 4th, 2013This UAV identification kit was created by James Bridle while he was Artist in Residence at the Visible Futures Lab at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Created from 3D modeling software and desktop printing technologies, the kit was based on military and civilian recognition kits, which were collections of models used to train gunners, radar operators and visual observers. Kit 001 was made using models of the MQ-1 Predator, the RQ-170 Sentinel, and the RQ-4 Global Hawk with human models for sense of scale.

Grenade Bottle Opener On Kickstarter

Its primary function is as a combination twist off/pry off (pop top) bottle opener, however it also includes a wrench and hex slot along with four holes for use with a keyring or paracord. It’s machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, and based on donation level can include custom engraving and/or the realistic grenade pattern.

Saturday, December 29th, 2012HyTAQ Robot
Friday, December 28th, 2012Yet another innovative UAV design, the HyTAQ robot was developed by the robotics lab at the Illinois Institute of Technology. It combines a quadrotor design with a rolling cage that allows for both terrestrial and aerial locomotion. This combination allows the HyTAQ to use the same actuator set and control system for both methods of locomotion. Additionally, due to its ability to switch between ground and air travel, the HyTAQ is capable of traveling four times greater and almost 6 times longer than an aerial-only system, and can simply fly over any obstacles it encounters on the ground.

Battlemug (P) Is Here
Sunday, December 23rd, 2012Battlemug is awesome but not everyone feels that they can afford a tankard machined from a solid billet of aluminum. So Battlemug’s creators developed a polymer version.
This model also integrates an M4-style carrying handle since you have to provide your own with the aluminum Battlemug. Although, the polymer version includes three M1913 rails for other accessories.

Friday, December 21st, 2012Games Workshop Gets Serial Pulled From Amazon For Using The Term ‘Space Marine’
Thursday, December 20th, 2012The term ‘Space Marine’ was around long before Games Workshop’s ‘Warhammer 40K’ property came into existence, having first appeared in 1932’s ‘Captain Brink of the Space Marines’ by Bob Olsen. Despite this, the web serial ‘Spots the Space Marine’ by M.C.A. Hogarth was taken off Amazon after Games Workshop made a claim that the term ‘Space Marine’ is their exclusive trademark. Hogarth states that according to the Trademarks Database, Games Workshop’s trademark on ‘Space Marine’ only extends to “board games, parlor games, war games, hobby games, toy models and miniatures of buildings, scenery, figures, automobiles, vehicles, planes, trains and card games and paint, sold therewith.”, so it looks like fiction isn’t covered. To further make Games Workshop look like bastards, part of the reader contributions towards ‘Spots the Space Marine’ is donated to Wounded Warrior Project and Soldiers’ Angels.
