Thursday, August 3rd, 2017

This honestly seems like a strange tonal shift when compared to the original movie.

Official Film Series Bundle Based On The Globally Renowned Halo Franchise Now Available On iTunes In The U.S.A, Courtesy Of Content Media

Tuesday, August 1st, 2017

July 31ST, 2017, London, UK – Today Content Media announced the release the official film series based on the globally renowned best-selling Halo franchise only in the U.S.A. The bundle includes “Halo Legends,” “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn,” “Halo: Nightfall” and “Halo: The Fall of Reach,” and is available on iTunes.

Created in collaboration with some of the world’s leading animators from Japan, “Halo Legends” draws you into the center of humanity’s ongoing battles with the Covenant, dynamically depicted in cutting-edge animation styles that deliver breathtaking visuals and gripping adventure. “Halo Legends” dives deep into the rich Halo universe and explores the Master Chief’s mysterious origins, advanced combat capabilities of Spartans, and the tense rivalry between Spartans and Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODSTs). “Halo Legends” is an 119-minute long animated film starring Atsuko Tanaka (“Ghost in the Shell”), Josh Grelle (“Mass Effect: Paragon Lost”) and Greg Ayres (“Samurai 7”).

“Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” is a coming-of-age story that follows cadet Thomas Lasky at Corbulo Academy, a 26th-century military training academy. Following in the footsteps of his mother and brother, Lasky is unsure of his future within the military but is forced to act when the academy is attacked by a massive force of Covenant, a religious alliance of aliens. Directed by Stewart Hendler, “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” is a 90-minute Live-Action movie starring Tom Green, Ty Olsson, Max Carver, Daniel Cudmore, Anna Popplewell and Osric Chau.

Set between the events of “Halo 4” and “Halo 5: Guardians,” “Halo: Nightfall” is the second full-length live-action feature for the Halo® franchise. From Executive Producer Ridley Scott (“Prometheus”, “Blade Runner”) and award-winning Director Sergio Mimica-Gezzan (“Battlestar Galactica”, “The Pillars Of The Earth”), “Halo: Nightfall” features an all-star cast including Mike Colter (“Luke Cage,” “The Good Wife”), Christina Chong (“24: Live Another Day”), Steven Waddington (“Sleepy Hollow”) and Luke Neal (“Final Prayer”). “Halo: Nightfall,” tells the personal story of Jameson Locke, a legendary manhunter and agent with the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), Earth’s most powerful and secretive military branch. At 98-minutes, the film provides the background to this pivotal new character in the Halo universe, who eventually becomes a Spartan-IV in “Halo 5: Guardians.”

“Halo: The Fall of Reach” is based on the namesake Halo novel by Eric Nylund. This 65-minute feature tells the dramatic tale of the origin and intrigue behind the SPARTAN program that propelled characters like the Master Chief and Dr. Catherine Halsey into the pantheon of Halo lore. The story reveals the events that brought Master Chief and Blue Team together, including their Spartan training and their daring mission to strike back at the Covenant during the first days of the deadly alien invasion. The animated film was produced and directed by SEQUENCE, the award-winning Vancouver-based animation studio responsible for the “Terminals” featured in “Halo 4” and “Halo 2: Anniversary,” and this marks their most ambitious and high-fidelity Halo animation yet.

Exclusively published by Microsoft Studios and developed by 343 Industries, the Halo franchise is an award-winning collection of properties, over $5 billion in worldwide sales to date, that has transcended video games and grown into a global entertainment phenomenon. Now, Halo fans in the U.S.A can go beyond the game and immerse themselves in the Halo universe with this special bundle, available only on iTunes.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Monday, July 24th, 2017

Last time I was at Disney World, they were doing the preliminary construction for this new attraction, which has been revealed to be ‘Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge’. While I only saw the work going on at Hollywood Studios, they’re also opening a version of this attraction at Disneyland.

Look forward to seeing it sometime in 2019.

Justice League SDCC Trailer

Saturday, July 22nd, 2017

A lot of great movie trailers have come out for this year’s SCCC, and the Justice League trailer is no exception. Aside from giving a somewhat clearer look at main villain Steppenwolf, we also get an action-packed look at the entire league.

Trailers are meant to hype up the film, but it’s still looking loads better than BvS.

Starship Troopers: Traitor Of Mars – Trailer

Wednesday, July 19th, 2017

So, there’s a new Starship Troopers CGI movie coming out. Casper Van Dien is reprising the role of Johnny Rico, and the powered armor the Mobile Infantry is wearing looks a lot more faithful to the original book than the armor from the original movie.

This movie will be played at select theaters for a one night event August 21st, with digital release a day later, and physical release on September 19th.

Mondo Tees – FULL METAL JACKET Apparel

Monday, June 26th, 2017

Mondo Tees, in association with Alamo Drafthouse and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, has been celebrating a year of Stanley Kubrick with a line of apparel based on his classic films. Up to bat is the classic Vietnam War film FULL METAL JACKET, represented by a hoodie and two t-shirts. Kinda funny they’re not offering a jacket with this collection; somebody dropped the ball on that one.

In any event, like all Mondo Tees collections, this one is sure to be limited in its availability, so if you’re looking to get a tee or the hoodie, do it fast. They’re currently up for pre-order, and are supposed to ship in 3-4 weeks.

eBay – Aliens Original Hero Colonial Marine M41-A Pulse Rifle

Friday, June 23rd, 2017

This coming Wednesday, June 28th, profilesinhistoryauctions, an eBay seller which is offering a plethora of sci-fi movie props and costumes, will be auctioning off an original M41-A Pulse Rifle prop, built for the movie ‘Aliens’ and later rebuilt for ‘Aliens 3’.

The estimated winning bid is expected to be anywhere from 12k to 15k. If one were inclined, they could build a live fire replica for less than that price; the M41-As were built using Thompson M1A1s and Remington 870s, with a few other odds and ends. But, this is a chance to own a piece of movie history.

You can check out the auction page at www.ebay.com/itm/112423958141.

Edge Of Tomorrow/All You Need Is Kill – What’s The Difference?

Tuesday, June 13th, 2017

It’s not common knowledge here in the West that the movie ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ AKA ‘Live. Die. Repeat’ is actually based on the light novel ‘All You Need Is Kill’ by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. Being a Hollywood film adaption, it features the same basic plot, but there are a few changes, which are detailed in this video by YouTube channel CineFix.

Alien: Covenant – Prologue: The Crossing

David totally bombed the Engineer homeworld with the Black Fluid, didn’t he?

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Tuesday, April 25th, 2017

Kingsman – members are named after knights in Authurian legend; makes sense.

Statesman – members are named after different brands/types of alcohol… ok.

Still, the first movie was pure gold, and if the sequel has the same level of polish, it’s sure to be a hit.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle releases September 22, 2017.

American Assassin Trailer

Regal Robot’s Mandalorian Skull Mini Sculpture is a polyurethane resin scupture modeled after Boba Fett’s iconic Mythosaur skull emblem. It is hand painted in a realistic bone look, and comes complete with a full color box.

In practical terms, it could be used as the coolest paperweight anyone could own, or it would look equally good on a shelf.

Currently in production, with a projected ship date of June 2017.

Thor: Ragnarok Teaser Trailer

Monday, April 10th, 2017

In the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe trailer, Hela destroys Moljnir, devastates Asgard, and displaces Thor to Sakaar, where he gets a haircut and has to battle Gladiator Hulk™ in a storyline that’s a bit more than loosely based on the Planet Hulk comic run.

Plus Led Zeppelin.

Thor: Ragnarok is slated to launch November 3rd, 2017.

The Force Awakens – A Bad Lip Reading

Sunday, April 9th, 2017

I just want to say that Mark Hamill does a really good Harrison Ford impression.

War for the Planet of the Apes – Official Trailer

Friday, March 31st, 2017

I’m still a sucker for the original series; their pronounced campy-ness is part of their charm. Regardless, this new Planet of the Apes series has been pretty good so far.

Justice League Trailer

Sunday, March 26th, 2017

DC’s shared film universe, known officially as the ‘DC Extended Universe’, has been, frankly, a poorly-managed hodgepodge hurriedly crafted together in a desperate response to Marvel’s expertly handled (by comparison) ‘Marvel Cinematic Universe’. As a result, what could/should have been good films were instead narratively unsound, critical disappointments, succeeding entirely on the properties they represent rather than than their own merits.

Ok, now that I have the pretentious critic angle covered, here’s my 2 cents on the newest ‘Justice League’ trailer.

Yeah, I’m pretty pumped to see a ‘Justice League’ movie is actually getting made. Yeah, it looks like they’re doing it right i.e. more ‘comic-booky’, even if it’s a bit jarring to go from BvS to this. However, trailers are meant to tantalize, and I’ve been burned before: pre-release material made BvS look really great, and even made Suicide Squad seem like it would be watchable. Then there’s Wonder Woman, which again, looks pretty neat, but it could always go south.

I’ll reserve further critique until ‘Justice League’ actually comes out in November, but, well, the track record of DC films speaks for itself. Enjoy the trailer, but be wary that’s this is a trailer, and all of the cool fight scenes and snappy dialogue compressed into a few minutes of footage are not representative of the final product.

Tomenosuke 2049 Movie Prop Edition

Saturday, March 18th, 2017

Deckard’s unnamed LAPD-issued blaster is one of the most iconic firearms in sci-fi cinema, an amalgam of a Steyr Mannlicher .222 Model SL and a Charter Arms Bulldog revolver, further fitted with LEDs and additional parts. Japanese prop manufacturer Tomenosuke is releasing the 2049 Movie Prop Edition of what they call the ‘PRO Blaster’, a movie-accurate replica of Deckard’s Blaster.

A number of features have been improved when compared to earlier releases of the PRO Blaster, including more-accurate overall geometry, as well as the grip color being more in line with the screen variant. The 2049 Movie Prop PRO Blaser also comes complete with dummy cartridges.

Atomic Blonde – Red Band Trailer – NSFW

Monday, March 13th, 2017

If you feel this trailer for Atomic Blonde has a bit of a John Wick feel, it’s not surprising: David Leitch, co-director of John Wick and director of the upcoming Deadpool 2, is also behind this flick, in which Charlize Theron plays an MI6 agent sent to Germany on a top secret mission.

Oh, and in case the title didn’t give it away, this is pretty NSFW; you have been warned.

Mondo – A Stanley Kubrick Production T-Shirt

Thursday, March 9th, 2017

Kubrick-1_1024x1024

The shirt itself is pretty simple: it’s a blue cotton tee with ‘A Stanley Kubrick Production’ printed on the front. This particular bit of minimalist fashion was developed by Mondo in association with Alamo Drafthouse and Warner Bros., in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of author Anthony Burgess and the original release date the ‘A Clockwork Orange’, the film based on the Burgess’ same titled book; in-arguably his most popular publication, and arguably Kubrick’s finest film.

To further tie in the shirt to the film, the print mimics the design and font of the same text as seen in the ‘A Clockwork Orange’ opening credits.
