TrackingPoint is expanding into the semi-auto realm with the new TrackingPoint 500 Series ARs, announced for 2014. Built upon the Daniel Defense DDM4 V7, the TrackingPoint AR utilizes the same Tag Track Xact technology as the bolt-action rifle scopes, but in a smaller frame. This allows for the user to make marked shots on targets traveling up to 10 mph out to 500 yards and utilize 2-12x magnification. Because of the integrated nature of the TrackingPoint system, it will only be available as a complete rifle w/ scope.
The rifles will be offered in offered in 7.62, .300 BLK, and 5.56 calibers. They are currently taking pre-orders. Delivery starts October 2014.
The 1-6×24 VCOG is a variable zoom optic with a first focal plane illuminated reticle. The housing is made from 7075-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum. Powered by a single AA battery, the VCOG is capable of a constant on battery life of 700 hours at setting 4 of 6. An integrated magnification dialing fin makes it easy to switch from 1x to 6x magnification. Tested to MIL-STD-810G; waterproof up to 20 meters.
Cerakote
Trijicon also revealed they will be offering Cerakote coating as an option for select models of the ACOG, Reflex, and RMR in OD Green, FDE, and Sniper Gray.
Additionally, a representative at the Trijicon booth mentioned the possibility of a limited run of Glock slides in partnership with Zev Technologies, featuring the RMR optic.
CenterPoint has released two zombie-themed scopes in their product line: 3-9x40mm and 4x32mm. The 3-9×40 mm features a red/green illuminated mil-dot reticule, while the 4x32mm features a duplex reticule. Both scopes feature finger adjustable windage and elevation dials, splatter-proof lens covers, picatinny mounts, and cleaning cloths.

The Trijicon ACOG 3×30 with 300 AAC Blackout reticle features a battery-free, self-illuminated reticle with a ballistic drop compensator for both supersonic and subsonic rounds. One of its key features is the Bindon Aiming Concept, which allows for both-eyes-open shooting. The reticle utilizes standard 16 inch barrel velocities and is designed to be calibrated with supersonic (115 gr.) ammo using a zero of 100 yards.
This is an image of the reticle used by the .300 BLK ACOG.
EOTech’s newest showings in their line of sights at this year’s SHOT can be seen above. The first is a sight calibrated specifically for use with .300 BLK and .300 whisper. It features a two dot reticle that is set for two different ranges depending on whether subsonic or supersonic ammunition is used. Not shown is the diagram on the roof of the sight detailing this information.
The other sight is the Zombie II. Practically identical to the original EOTech zombie sight, it features the same biohazard reticle, with the largest change being the inclusion of ‘Reaper Z’ camouflage. Other features include 20 brightness settings, a 600 hour run time on a single 123 battery, and attachment to a 1″ weaver rail or 1913 picatinny rail.

PFI has partnered with WOOT to sell their SOPS-33M Reflex Sight at half MSRP to “get more of [their] scopes into shooters hands”. The SOPS-22M is an excellent red-dot optic with an established reputation. It’s built to mil-spec standards, will not lose zero (due to its steel drop-drum turrets), features an auto-brightness/off setting so you don’t have to adjust brightness in different conditions, and has two nightvision settings. Check it out.
Here’s the designer talking about it (pay no attention to the music):
“The SOPS-33mm sighting system is the most advanced sight of its kind available. It has the standard light intensity settings (1-8 manual), but this is where it leaves the rest behind with 2-night vision settings to be used with night vision equipment, and a special “Auto” feature that automatically adjusts the intensity to the environment’s ambient light due to the proprietary photo cell. This scope was designed and built to PFI’s rigid specifications and can take a beating that others won’t. The scope comes with two standard low mount 33mm rings, a flash kill filter, flip up caps, covered target turrets, and heavy duty windage and elevation adjustments that will never leave zero. Also available is the PFI-QRR quick release mount that is designed especially for this system for fast mounting and dismounting in the field.”
