Two veterans launch GunLamps on Kickstarter | Badass lamps for badass people

Monday, March 4th, 2019

Los Angeles, March 2019 – GunLamps has launched on Kickstarter with a modest $10,000 funding goal. GunLamps was co-founded by a US Marine Corps veteran and a British Army veteran, who met in California in 2012, became best friends, and business partners. What started as a simple gift idea, from one gun-lover to another, has developed into an exciting business endeavor with uncapped potential. We’re launching this Kickstarter campaign to fund initial production and jump-start the business Sebastian Calvo, one of the co-founders said.

Sebastian “Seabass” Calvo served 7 years in the US Marine Corps as a Combat Engineer Officer, deploying to both Afghanistan and Iraq. He left the military in 2018 to pursue his Masters in Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business.

Geraint “Gez” Jones served 12 years as an infantryman in the British Army. He is a combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. Gez has written several of his own books and has co-authored with James Patterson. He is a New York and Sunday Times best selling author.

Our goal:
We’re aiming to reach a goal of $10,000 Geraint Jones said and we’re also looking for a $25,000 investment for 10% of the business. Since our founding, we have screened multiple manufacturing facilities and tested countless prototypes, and we have arrived at a quality we feel is worthy of stamp of approval as military veterans. We are now ready to start stocking inventory and fulfilling orders, and monetary support through investors or on our Kickstarter will help get that started.

Our mission:

To design and manufacture stylish, high-quality, and affordable products for gun-lovers across the country, helping them effortlessly decorate their homes, offices, or man caves (preferably all three).

Our products:

Choose between our unique .44 Magnum or 1911 paper towel dispensers, and our exclusive GunLamps product line, such as the M4 or RPG. We have several color finishes to choose from including a black ops collection, and all of our products come with free shipping anywhere in the continental US.

DPX GEAR INTRODUCES THE LIGHTER, SMALLER, STRONGER AMERICAN-MADE EDC – THE DPX HEST/F URBAN G10 IN OD GREEN

Sunday, March 3rd, 2019

San Diego, CA – March, 1, 2019 – DPx Gear has released its new classic folder; the smaller, stronger, American made HEST/F Urban G10 in OD Green. The Urban reduces size and weight, compared to its larger, Italian-made bigger brother HEST/F 2.0, while increasing strength. That’s not something you hear much these days.

Designed by Robert Young Pelton for DPx Gear and made by Southern Grind in Atlanta, GA, the DPx HEST/F Urban is the last pocket knife you’ll need for every day carry. Small, light and feature-packed, it’s just as at home in your jeans as it is in the tackle box. An heirloom quality piece of US craftsmanship that can be passed down generations with the support of a no-questions-asked lifetime warranty that DPx Gear customers deserve.

Designer Robert Young Pelton is not just known for surviving wars, he is also an award winning designer, having earned recognition for his knife designs and has secured over a dozen patents licensed to DPx Gear.

When Pelton was challenged with creating a smaller EDC version of the legendary hard use DPx HEST/F 2.0, the results were impressive. The HEST 2.0 features a thicker (.19″ vs the Urban’s .16″ thickness), longer (the 2.0 is 3.15” long vs the Urban’s 2.9”) blade but shares the same frame thickness with its smaller brother, the Urban. Weight has been reduced by an ounce and half (4.9 oz vs 3.55 oz) yet the usable blade edge is only about a quarter on an inch less.

The Urban G10 materials make familiar and liberal use of DPx hallmarks like Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V alpha-beta titanium alloy for the lock bar frame side.

To lighten the G10 version we use the rough grip phenolic epoxy resin to make a lighter, smaller but actually tougher when thicknesses to length is tested.

In keeping with only using American-made materials, the blade steel is CPM 154. Crucible Particle Metallurgy makes steels specifically for hard use knives. CPM 154 is a powdered steel compacted into shape, creating a perfect mixture made up of extremely fine particles. This gives the final DPx steel a flawless finish with better corrosion resistance and edge retention.

The finish of a DPx Gear knife is flawless. The Urban G10 in Olive Drab features a rough finish G10 frame side and a stone washed raw Ti side. The hardware is 440 Stainless and the high sabre grind blade is our new Ghost Grey matte finish PVD.

A made in America, hard use EDC folding knife that looks good, feels greats and lasts a lifetime.

The company will donate $1 per “Commufornia Special” magazine from its website for the life of the “Commufornia Special” line. The magazines will also ship with a $5 off annual membership offer to Gun Owners of America.

“XTech Tactical has historically chosen to not consider producing any state compliant products. Our rational has been that such products quiet those in restrictive states. We hope that the message of the “Commufornia Special” line will unify, educate, and assist those in restrictive states to fight for the rights of all Americans. This is our way of joining the front line of the fight! We are excited to work with the team at Gun Owners of America and encourage other manufactures to consider similar partnerships with organizations fighting to retain our rights”, stated Jeremy Deadman, XTech Tactical’s Director of Sales and Marketing.

Navy Returns to Flying Union Jack

Friday, February 22nd, 2019

From Chief of Naval Operations Public Affairs

WASHINGTON (NNS) — The Navy released a NAVADMIN 039/19 directing the display of the Union Jack in lieu of the First Navy Jack aboard Navy ships and craft, Feb 21.

U.S. Navy ships and craft will return to flying the Union Jack effective 4 June 2019. The date for reintroduction of the Union Jack commemorates the greatest naval battle in history: the Battle of Midway, which began on 4 June 1942.

“Make no mistake: we have entered a new era of competition. We must recommit to the core attributes that made us successful at Midway: integrity, accountability, initiative, and toughness,” said Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson. “For more than 240 years, the Union Jack, flying proudly from jackstaffs aboard U.S. Navy warships, has symbolized these strengths.”

The Union Jack is a flag consisting of 50 white stars, representing each of the 50 states, on a blue background. A version of this Jack first flew in 1777 and was updated as new states joined the Union.

“The Union Jack is deeply connected to our heritage and our rise as a global nation with a global Navy,” said Richardson. “The Navy is a symbol that projects American values to the world. Just as the Navy embodies the values and principles that we hold dear, our very appearance in port and at anchor communicates important messages.”

The Navy will re-establish the custom in which the commissioned ship in active status having the longest total period in active status, other than USS Constitution, will display the First Navy Jack until decommissioned or transferred to inactive status. As of 4 June 2019, the only warship authorized to fly the First Navy Jack is USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19).

This policy change does not affect the wearing of the First Navy Jack patch as an optional uniform component on TYPE II/III Navy Working Uniforms.

GRINNELL, Iowa (February 6, 2019) – Brownells is proud to announce its 2019 title sponsorship of The Tactical Games, a series of exciting “battles” designed to test America’s best warrior-athletes in a combination of two-gun shooting and military-style training, with elements of both Strongman and CrossFit® competitions mixed in.

Former U.S. Army Green Beret Tim Burke co-founded The Tactical Games, bringing to bear his more than 21 years of experience in U.S. Special Operations as well as his career as the head of a law enforcement counter-terrorism unit.

“The Tactical Games provide an immediate, no-nonsense metric that either validates or challenges your training methods and conclusions.  It is the only sporting event of its type available for open enrollment,” said Burke. “If you work with or carry a gun for any reason, why wouldn’t you compete at The Tactical Games?”

NRA, Pyramyd Air Launch New Range in a Box

Tuesday, January 29th, 2019

FAIRFAX, Va. – The National Rifle Association and Pyramyd Air are excited to announce the launch of a new Range in a Box for 2019. The Range in a Box program presented by Pyramyd Air provides temporary air gun ranges to approved clubs and organizations free of charge to facilitate basic firearm safety training and “fun shoot” types of events for people with disabilities.

The Range in a Box provides nearly everything needed to set up a temporary air gun range, including air rifles, air pistols, the portable range, rifle rests and reactive targets. The key components are: seven T-200 Sporter Rifles; three Air Venturi Pistols; one large (8 feet wide by 24 feet long) portable range from Crosman; three Ultimate Tripod rifle rests from McFadden Machine Company; and various reactive target systems from Pyramyd Air. Shipping to and from the event location is also provided at no cost to the user. Consumable materials such as air and tanks, pellets and paper targets are not included.

This resource is intended for use by any organization planning an event to include people with disabilities—the most common participants being veterans’ groups, rehabilitation facilities and gun clubs. To get started, a representative of the group must contact the NRA Adaptive Shooting Program at adaptiveshooting@nrahq.org or visit adaptiveshooting.nrahq.org to print the application and user agreement. Each organization may use the Range in a Box two times to establish the viability of such an event and is then encouraged to apply for grants through The NRA Foundation to purchase its own equipment.

The NRA Adaptive Shooting Program strives to remove barriers that prevent interested groups from hosting more events for people with disabilities by merging the resources of industry partners such as Pyramyd Air with the commitment of the community to spread firearm safety training to a very deserving segment of the population. For more information, visit adaptiveshooting.nrahq.org.

About the National Rifle Association
Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America’s oldest civil rights and sportsmen’s group. 5.5 million members strong, NRA continues its mission to uphold Second Amendment rights and is the leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the military. Thousands Apply to Join New Army eSports Team

Sunday, January 27th, 2019

FORT MEADE, Md. — Over 6,500 Soldiers are already hoping to be part of a new Army esports team that will compete in video game tournaments nationwide in an effort to attract potential recruits.

“It’s essentially connecting America to its Army through the passion of the gaming community,” said Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Jones, NCO-in-charge of the budding team.

About 30 Soldiers are expected to be picked for the team and some of the first positions could be filled this summer. Only active-duty and Reserve Soldiers are currently allowed to apply.

Those chosen will be assigned to the Marketing and Engagement Brigade for three years at Fort Knox, Kentucky, where the Army Recruiting Command is headquartered.

While they will not become recruiters, team members will receive a crash course on Army enlistment programs to answer questions from those interested in learning about the service.

Once built up, the team will fall under an outreach company that will also include an Army rock band and a functional fitness team.

Not everyone on the team will compete. Those who will may train up to six hours per day on video games, Jones said, adding that gameplay sessions would be live streamed or recorded for spectators to watch.

Esports has ballooned in popularity in recent years with millions of followers.

In August, the Washington Post reported that esports could generate about $345 million in revenue this year in North America. In 2017, a major esports tournament in China also drew a peak of more than 106 million viewers — roughly the same number of those who watched last year’s Super Bowl.

“It’s something really new and it’s been gaining a lot of steam,” Jones said.

While on the team, Soldiers will still conduct physical training, weapons qualifications and other responsibilities that come with being a Soldier. They will also have to maintain certifications in their military occupational specialty.

“Outside of that, there will be esports training,” Jones said. “So whatever game they’re playing in, they’ll not only be playing it, but be coached in it to get better.”

The team, he said, shares a similar concept to that of other Army competitive teams that continually train, such as the Golden Knights parachute team, World Class Athlete Program and Army Marksmanship Unit.

“Esports is like traditional sports,” he said. “Nobody can just walk in and expect to play at a competitive level.”

The Army, he said, already has talented gamers out there who can compete in events.

Last weekend, a few Soldiers competed at PAX South in San Antonio as a way to introduce Army esports to the greater gamer community.

In one of the events, a Street Fighter V tournament, two Soldiers placed first and second.

“This is the perfect opportunity to showcase not only to the Army, but to the civilian populace and the esports industry that we also have what it takes,” Jones said of the events.

Recruiters from the San Antonio Recruiting Battalion also joined them and were able to generate some leads with potential recruits, he added.

There are plans to do the same at the PAX East exposition in Boston in late March.

As a gamer and a recruiter himself, Jones said the team can help bridge the civilian-military gap by breaking down misconceptions some young people may have about the Army.

Being able to play their favorite video games with others who share the same passion is also a bonus.

“For a lot of Soldiers, to include myself, it’s like a dream come true,” Jones said. “This is just one of those ways we can start the conversation.”

Whether backyard plinking or hunting small game, the features and adaptability of the S4000-E offer superior shooting performance at an economic price.

Available in .177 and .22 calibers, the S4000-E airgun features a powerful break-action Gas Ram piston to launch alloy pellets up to 1,200 fps (1,000 fps for lead) for the .177 caliber and up to 1,000 fps (800 fps with lead) for the .22 caliber. The Multi-Grip System offers additional adaptability by giving shooters the ability to personalize style and shooting comfort by choosing between the embossed grips or the ProAdaptive Checkering.

When being quiet counts, the integrated S3 suppressor dramatically reduces shot noise while a recoil-absorbing buttpad takes the bite out of shooting. Both the .177 caliber and .22 caliber airguns are available in a rifle/optics combo package that includes a 4 x 32 mm riflescope and has an MSRP of $179. MSRP for the rifle only is $149 for both calibers.

HatsanUSA, Inc. Launches New Vectis Airgun at SHOT Show

Monday, January 21st, 2019

The Vectis airgun brings modern sporting features to the classic lever-action.

Bentonville, AR (January, 21 2019) – Providing a modern take on an old classic, Hatsan’s new Vectis is a unique, lever-action, Pre-Charged Pneumatic (PCP) airgun. Reminiscent of a lever-action cowboy rifle, the Vectis is capable of delivering up to 35 shots on a single fill, making it easy to empty a tin of pellets in no time.

Based on the Flash platform, the Vectis maintains the same lightweight characteristics. Weighing 7 lbs., the Vectis features a one-piece receiver and a sturdy, synthetic-polymer QuietEnergy barrel shroud that protects the barrel and dampens noise up to 50%. The airgun’s 165cc fixed-air cylinder is constructed from lightweight, strong aluminum alloy. A combo optics rail is machined into the receiver and continues down the length of the barrel shroud to provide shooters with 17 inches of uninterrupted rail space. The Vectis is capable of accepting both 11mm and 22mm mounts.

Just like the rifles of the old west, the sturdy trigger guard acts as the rifle’s cocking lever. Simply rotate the lever 45 degrees to cock the rifle. Follow-up shots are quick and easy, thanks to the S/Roto Index Magazine. Each of the 2 included magazines can hold up to 14 pellets. A single-shot tray is also included for those who might want to precision-load pellets individually. The Vectis is available in.177, .22, and .25 caliber.

Although lightweight and affordable, the Vectis is not without Hatsan’s hallmark features such as a precision-rifled and choked barrel to ensure accuracy and dependability. The Vectis also sports Hatsan’s Quattro Trigger. The Quattro Trigger is a fully-adjustable 2-stage match style trigger – designed for both hunters and target shooters alike. A color-coded pressure gauge is integrated and viewable from beneath the rifle for easy fill pressure monitoring. The removable flip-up sights are infused with TruGlo fiber optics, and the rear sight is adjustable for both windage and elevation.

The Vectis is configured to accommodate all shooters. The ambidextrous, all-weather, synthetic stock sports a Monte Carlo cheek rest and is built to last. This ergonomic thumbhole grip allows the lever-action to be cycled with minimal motion, so the shooter’s eyes can stay on target. A Picatinny accessory rail mounted beneath the forend permits shooters to add their favorite accessory and give the rifle a customized look and feel. Although this airgun produces very little recoil, it features a soft, ventilated, rubber butt pad for added comfort for all types of shooters.

SOAR: Ride Along With The World’s Most Accomplished And Secretive Special Ops Aviation Unit

    Friday, December 28th, 2018

Parker, CO, December 18, 2018—There are few of us who have experienced what Special Operations team members have felt during a perilous and secretive mission. David Burnett has and he’s chronicled it in his powerful memoir, Making a Night Stalker.

Burnett opens up the highly secretive world of the Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR), the most accomplished and secretive special ops aviation unit on the globe. The importance of teamwork and heroism are driven home to readers in taut prose that brings to life what it is like to be at the knife’s edge, knowing a moment of inattention can bring catastrophe to you and your closest comrades.

His journey starts in a conventional Army unit where he feels unfulfilled. The lack of responsibility drives him to pursue the goal of becoming an MH-47G Chinook helicopter crew chief in the world’s most secretive unit. Despite obstacles and endless training, he’s finally able to set foot on the aircraft. Achieving FMQ (Fully Mission Qualified) crew chief takes additional years of training and deployments, but after achieving the sought after role, he is honorably discharged from the military. Burnett also explores his PTSD, which drove him to alcohol. The beast was finally tamed through taking up writing, he said.

For those whose only experience of war has been through media headlines, Burnett’s book presents a vivid picture of the vaunted Special Operations Aviation unit and the toll it takes on its members.

Author David Burnett was born and raised in Parker, Colorado. After a few semesters of college, he enlisted in the Army in 2008. He was stationed with 563rd ASB as a 15U (Chinook helicopter repairer). After realizing his job in the regular Army was not as fulfilling as he had hoped, he applied for 160th SOAR. He went through countless years of training and deployed with the unit five times before deciding he wasn’t going to reenlist. He put pen to paper after receiving an honorable discharge from the unit and began writing his story.

More information on David Burnett can be found at www.makinganightstalker.com.
