Nomad Defense Co. – Nomad 9 Frame

Saturday, December 1st, 2018

Nomad Defense Co.’s Nomad 9 is a stripped pistol frame that is compatible with Gen4 G19 components. Built with improved ergonomics over the stock Glock frame, the Nomad 9 features an extended beavertail; a contoured grip with no finger grooves; a raised trigger guard to allow for a higher grip, which is also enlarged for better use with gloves; and a forward thumb ledge, similar to the ‘gas pedal’ found on many modern competition pistols. The Nomad 9 also features a factory ‘rock grip’ texture, a MIL-STD 1913 spec accessory rail, flared magwell, and three interchangeable backstrap sizes.

Because of design changes when compared to a Glock-spec frame, the Nomad 9 is not guaranteed to be compatible with many G19-compatible holsters, however Nomad Defense is working with several holster makers to develop holsters for the Nomad 9.

Mission First Tactical (MFT) Introduces the Extreme Duty 5.56 Polymer Mag

Wednesday, November 21st, 2018

The EXDPM556 magazines are the latest addition to the MFT Magzine line-up. Over engineered for today’s modern warrior.

Horsham, Pa. (November 2018) – Mission First Tactical, LLC (MFT™), a leader in USA-made rifle/carbine accessories, is proud to introduce the latest addition to the MFT magazine line, the Extreme Duty 5.56 Polymer Magazine (EXDPM556). Designed for the AR15/M4 platform but allowing for use with wide range of non-AR15/M4 platforms.

Manufactured using the newest material technology and processes, the magazines with their next generation long glass fiber polymer construction offer the trifecta of perfection in structural performance; strength, durability and stiffness. The stiffness allows the magazine to maintain its integrity without additional weight with an additional benefit of top performance even at elevated temperatures. The longer length reinforcing fibers produce increased strength and prevents deformation and polymer fatigue. Additionally, the Extreme Duty 5.56 mags offer increased durability through a more efficient energy transfer between the polymer and the longer fiber filaments during an impact. A long-life USGI-Spec stainless steel spring is corrosion resistant. The four-way, anti-tilt, self-lubricating follower keeps the rounds aligned and makes mag feeding consistent and reliable, while virtually eliminating jambs.

Confidence in handling the new Extreme Duty 5.56 mags is a piece of cake, even during weather or duress. The front and rear of the gripping surface is ribbed for a positive grip, even with gloves. An oversized bolt-catch provides enhanced reliability of the bolt-catch operation. The flared floor plate allows for an easier grip in handling and extraction and one-hand reloads. Wrapping up the multiple benefits to the newest addition to the MFT magazine line is a paint dox matrix to allow for easy marking and identification of magazines and the tool-less disassembly with the double floor plate safety release tabs.

Mission First Tactical Extreme Duty 5.56 Polymer magazines are built for hard shooting and extreme treatment and shooting conditions and come with a Lifetime Warranty.

Extreme Duty 5.56 Polymer Mag Specs:

Model Number: EXDPM556

Height: 7.494”

Width: .940”

Length: 2.525”

Color: Black, SDE (Tan)

MSRP: $12.99

Henry Introduces New Finishes and New Calibers

Saturday, November 3rd, 2018

Henry Repeating Arms, the American firearms manufacturer based out of Bayonne, NJ and Rice Lake, WI is introducing nine new models that include engraved finishes for the Long Ranger rifle series and additional caliber options for the Single Shot rifle series. These new releases come less than a year after introducing over a dozen models at the beginning of 2018 as a result of customer feedback and suggestions.

The Long Ranger Deluxe Engraved Edition rifles are built to the same specs and performance levels as the original Long Ranger rifles announced in late 2016 with the most significant difference being the lightweight alloy receiver finished with a nickel plating, intricate scroll engraving, and lightly accented with 24K gold inlay. The Deluxe Engraved Edition is available in .223 Rem/5.56 NATO (H014D-223), .243 Win (H014D-243), and .308 Win (H014D-308) with an MSR price of $1,850.
See more information here »

The Long Ranger Wildlife Engraved Edition rifles provide another twist to the original Long Ranger finish with highly detailed engravings saluting some of North America’s most revered game. The receivers share the same nickel plating and 24K gold highlights as the Deluxe Engraved Edition rifles. The .223 Rem/5.56 NATO version (H014WL-223) features a single coyote head on the left flat of the receiver and a pair of full-figured coyotes on the right. The .243 Winchester version (H014WL-243) shows a single pronghorn antelope head against a background of rolling hills on the left side of the receiver, and a full-figured pair on the prairie on the right. The .308 Winchester rifle (H014WL-308) depicts a majestic bull elk in a mountain setting on its left, and a grazing pair on its right flat. The MSR price for the Long Ranger Wildlife Engraved Edition rifles is $1,850.

As an expansion to Henry’s line of premium break action single shot rifles and shotguns, both .30-30 Win and .357 Magnum are now available. Single shot rifles are often sought out for their dependable simplicity, lighter weight, or the challenge that they provide to hunters who value the more methodical approach required when only one shot is readily available at any given time. The .357 Magnum version, which can also shoot .38 Special ammunition comes in either a blued steel receiver (H015-357) or a hardened brass receiver (H015B-357). The .30-30 Win rifle is only available with a blued steel receiver (H015-3030). The MSR price for the brass .357 Magnum rifle is $576, and the MSR price for both steel versions is $448.

Until now, Henry’s youth-sized firearm offerings only came chambered in a .22 caliber. The new Single Shot Youth Rifle and Single Shot Youth Shotgun add 2 new options for youth hunters. The rifle is available in .243 Win (H015Y-243) and the shotgun is available in 20 gauge (H015Y-20). Youth hunters often learn the basics of responsible firearm handling with a .22 rifle and then graduate to a milder shooting, but more powerful round for game. Both of these youth models are finished with blued steel metal and American walnut stocks with a length of pull that is 1″ shorter than their full-sized counterparts. The MSR Price for each is $448.

HECKLER & KOCH’S VP9-B JOINS THE FAMILY

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018

Columbus, Georgia — Introducing the newest option on the most ergonomic striker fired handgun available, the VP9-B in 9mm. Retail priced at $719, the VP9-B offers a new US-style reversible push button and utilizes the same magazines as the other VP9 Series. The new push-button style mag release option from HK means the VP doesn’t just fit your hand, it fits your shooting style as well.

In any firearm, especially a handgun, the many “touchpoints ”between the shooter and the firearm are critical to consistent, repeatable, performance. Now, no matter how you are built or how you shoot, the VP series just fits.

• Depending on your shooting style, you can choose between a European-style ambidextrous paddle mag release or the new US-style reversible button. This determination must be made at time of purchase, as the two models are not convertible.

• The most ergonomic, adaptable grip frame available allows you to interchange both backstraps and grip panels in 27 unique configurations to fit your hand.

• The VP trigger is a real upgrade over the industry standard of many years. It has a short, light take-up with a solid, clean break; followed by a short, positive reset.

VP9-B models are made in HK’s Oberndorf factory in southwest Germany using all of the company’s advanced barrel manufacturing technologies and high level production of their machined steel slides, polymer frames, and all internal components. HK VP pistols are competitively priced and covered by Heckler & Koch’s lifetime warranty.

Tennessee Arms Company – Omega Rifle

Thursday, October 18th, 2018

This article was originally featured on Soldier Systems Daily

rs=w-1136,h-568,cg-true

Tennessee Arms Company, best known for their polymer AR-15 and AR-10 lower receivers, is currently undergoing production on a new rifle they’ve dubbed the Omega Rifle. A design 10 years in the making, the Omega utilizes existing AR-15 pattern barrels and magazines, but also features a gas piston-operated action, is side charging, and has an adjustable trigger. The Omega will also come with a user-changeable back plate, which allows for the installation of various stocks, or a flat plate (for a pistol model). The model seen above is a working prototype, and doesn’t represent what the finalized commercial design will look like.

rs=w-538,h-269,cg-true

The unique feature of the Omega Rifle is its patented articulating bolt assembly. Somewhat comparable to KRISS’ Super V Recoil Mitigation System for the Vector weapons family, the Omega’s Articulating Bolt Assembly features a ‘Traveling Mass’, which moves downward during the firing cycle, sliding directly into the pistol grip; this system is designed to reduce felt recoil, with a shorter operation cycle and fewer moving parts than a standard AR-15.

The Omega Rifle is slated for a Spring 2019 release, at the latest. Tennessee Arms Company will soon be offering a pre-order for the Omega rifle chambered in 5.56mm. There are plans to expand the Omega’s chamberings to include 9mm, .308, and 7.62x39mm. We’re eager to see further developments on this new design as its release draws nearer.

CATASAUQUA Police Department Implements Viridian Weapon-Mounted Camera

Monday, October 1st, 2018

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – October 1, 2018 – Viridian Weapon Technologies announces that the Catasauqua Police Department, located just outside of Allentown, Pennsylvania, has deployed the FACT Duty™ Weapon-Mounted Camera (WMC™). Viridian and Catasauqua will hold a joint press conference to discuss this milestone on Tuesday, October 2 at 10:00 a.m. at the Borough of Catasauqua Municipal Complex, 90 Bridge Street, Catasauqua, Pennsylvania 18032.

The FACT Duty fits officer weapons and holsters and records automatically, providing an unobstructed view from the end of an officer’s firearm. The need for this product continues to be validated in current events throughout the United States.

“The transparency and ease of implementation helped us choose this solution,” said Catasauqua Chief of Police Douglas Kish. “A department of our size has a surprisingly large number of interactions with the public. The FACT Duty WMC allows us the coverage for a possible (and rare) Officer Involved Shooting without huge overhead costs or recurring payment requirements.”

Viridian has created an important new category for law enforcement with the introduction of the FACT camera. This unique Weapon-Mounted Camera provides an unobstructed view of critical use-of-force events from the end of the firearm, addressing limitations officers can face with body cameras. The highly advanced WMC employs a 1080p full-HD digital camera with a microphone and 500 lumen tactical light. Viridian’s proprietary INSTANT-ON® technology automatically activates the camera and microphone whenever the officer draws the firearm from its holster. Not only does this eliminate risk of failure to manually turn on the camera during a critical event, but it also keeps the officer from fumbling with cumbersome equipment.

“Catasauqua becomes the first department in Pennsylvania to implement our FACT Duty Weapon-Mounted Camera,” said Viridian President and CEO Brian Hedeen. “Current events point to the fact that body and dash cameras alone are inadequate. More than 300 police departments around the country are in the process of testing and implementing FACT Duty WMCs. We’re seeing more and more departments choose our products and I think that is because our WMCs provide an unfettered perspective for officer-involved shootings and other use-of-force incidents, and our products help show what really happened.”

Easy Implementation
FACT WMCs do not require the purchase of supplemental equipment or services and are designed exclusively to answer the needs of today’s officers. The WMC generates just a small fraction of the data to manage compared to other law enforcement recording options because it only records when the officer’s weapon is drawn. This results in significantly lower comparative data management costs. The WMCs fit on existing standard-issue firearms and fit seamlessly in multiple duty holster platforms. The cameras feature a recording time of over three hours to handle virtually any scenario. They also incorporate secured data access and are easily rechargeable.

Body and dash cameras were not designed to capture officer-involved shootings. However, Viridian WMCs were designed specifically for this purpose.

Category Creation and Importance Today
The need for this technology was recognized several years ago. While the product was in development, events continued to unfold that only increased the urgency for Weapon-Mounted Cameras for police officers across America. Pennsylvania has been in the spotlight for these events. From the David Jones shooting in Philadelphia in 2016 to the Antwon Rose II shooting in Pittsburgh this past summer, these tragic events illustrate outrage that occurs partially from a lack of information to determine what happened. These events are the source of massive protests and community disruption.

“As we closely monitor these events around the country along with the aftermath when affected parties do not believe justice was served, we realize that our solution cannot be implemented soon enough by more departments,” said Matthew Plowman, General Counsel at Viridian. “Much of the controversy in so many past incidents and trials was what the officer saw when pulling the trigger. The FACT Duty is a tool to provide objective evidence, both for potential legal proceedings and in helping the community understand what happened. Our WMC also aids police communication to the general public to help eliminate the uncertainty in officer-involved shootings that is the source of much conflict.”

More information on FACT Duty WMCs can be found at ViridianWeaponTech.com/FACT-Duty-Learn-More.

Glock G45 – The Black G19X

Sunday, September 23rd, 2018

This article originally appeared on Soldier Systems Daily.

IMG_6231

With last year’s reveal of the G46 – a new rotating lug pistol design created specifically for a German Police solicitation, many of us were left wondering: “What about the G44 and G45?”. The G44 is still in the dark, but a leaked ad sheet has been making the rounds revealing the G45, and, somewhat surprisingly, it’s essentially the G19X, but in black.

The ad sheet, which is in German, claims that the G45 was designed for Military requirements, and, just like the G19X, features a G19-sized slide with a full, G17-sized grip. There are a couple of notable changes from the G19X design, however: the inclusion of front charging serrations on the slide (like the limited release ‘FS’ models) and a flared magwell that does away with the oft-criticized mag well cutout on the standard Gen5 models. This differs from the magwell of the G19X, which features a front flair which sits in front of the seated magazine, making it incompatible with the elongated Gen5 magazine floorplates. Aside from those changes, the G45 has all the standard Gen5 updates:

Cobalt Kinetics EDGE and TEAM Hand Guards Now Available

    Wednesday, September 5th, 2018

    Washington Utah, Sep,5 2018:

Cobalt Kinetics has added another pair of great products to their growing selection of AR-15 Accessories.

The Cobalt Kinetics handguard is now available as a universal accessory for the AR-15. This exciting product release has been long-awaited by the DIY AR-15 crowd. 2 handguard models are available, and named for the Cobalt Rifle with which they’re included. The EDGE (characterized by the aggressive points at the muzzle end)

and the TEAM – tailored for practical competition. It lacks the pointed ends found on the EDGE handguard.

They’re machined from a 11-pound block of solid 7075 rather than an extrusion which can warp or stress relieve during machining. The result of this extra effort is a perfectly straight finished part- this keeps iron sights centered over the barrel. Features include 2 picatinny rail sections at the muzzle, top and bottom for back-up irons sights and bipods or weapon lights. M-lok pockets are provided on the entire length at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock for unlimited mounting options.

QD sling cups are also present at each end, and on both sides.

Where the handguard mates up with the receiver, there’s an extra 1.5” of picatinny rail to allow more mounting options for the main optic.

These handguards attach to an AR-15 upper by way of a clever 2-piece barrel nut and sleeve.

The barrel nut has 2 offset rings of 12 threaded holes. The sleeve has 2 rings of 8 countersunk holes for a total of 16. Through some thoughtful engineering, this combination allows for the nut and sleeve to be screwed together at any of 48 locations using 3 screws. The result is a nut that provides perfect alignment and gap-free mounting on any upper receiver.

A proprietary nut driver is provided.

Tools required include a proper receiver-holding fixture, ½” drive torque wrench, 3/32” and 2.5mm allen keys. An in/lb. torque driver is recommended for the small screws.

Skylar Stewart, VP at Cobalt commented, “The handguard has by far been the most requested item since our EDGE rifle hit the market in 2015. It took some clever engineering from our team to develop the barrel nut assembly that will work well with all of the different brands of upper receivers without leaving timing or gap issues. A gap between the upper receiver and the handguard is not acceptable to us. The original 16” handguards are in stock and ready to ship. We’ve also got some shorter versions in the works. Look for those to be available toward the end of this year.

Both the TEAM and EDGE handguards retail for $285 and can be found on Cobalt’s website at https://www.cobaltkinetics.com/accessories/hand-guards
