Hi-Point Firearms – ‘Name The Nine’ Phase 2 Is Ongoing

Sunday, June 23rd, 2019

This is a last-minute reminder of Hi-Point Fierarms ‘Name The Nine’ contest. The previous article covers most of the details, but essentially: Hi-Point Firearms introduced a new 9mm pistol at SHOT Show 2019, but without a model name. They turned to the public to come up with a name through a contest, where entrants would propose a model name, and Hi-Point would pick their favorites. Now, the public can vote on their favorite of Hi-Point’s choices, with the most voted name becoming the official model designation of Hi-Point’s new 9mm pistol, and the entrant who proposed that name winning one of the new pistols, with a custom serial number of their choosing, and some ammo.

Enoch Industries Introduces the ODIN Chassis System, a Lightweight Chassis for the 10/22 Platform

Thursday, June 20th, 2019

Spring Creek, TN, June 17, 2019 – Enoch Industries, designer and developer of top-tier firearm components, has recently unveiled their first product, the ODIN Chassis System, a lightweight and versatile system for the 10/22 platform. Weighing in at only 12.2 oz, this chassis system incorporates current AR-15 attachment standards, giving users a new level of function that standard 10/22 platforms fail to deliver.

The only 10/22 chassis available on the market with a Picatinny rail at the back, the ODIN Chassis System provides a better option for attaching a new standard of stocks and pistol braces. This flexibility features a smaller footprint and offers considerable weight savings over the standard receiver extension and buttstock combos. Machined from billet 6061-T6 aluminum, The ODIN Chassis System provides a rigid, no-compromise platform for building or upgrading a precision rifle or pack-lite pistol.

“This new chassis fills the gap in the market for a lightweight, modular system for the 10/22 platform,” said Joseph Sudderth, CEO of Enoch Industries. “While on the hunt for a lightweight chassis to upgrade a 10/22, we couldn’t find anything on the market that fit the bill. So we set out to design one that provided the flexibility and versatility that we needed, and the ODIN Chassis System was born.”

The ODIN Chassis System is designed to give competition shooters and 10/22 enthusiasts the freedom to customize their build for any number of unique setups. In the front of the chassis, MLok slots at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock allow for the addition of a variety of accessories while two steel, 360° quick disconnects on both sides of the chassis are ideal for running sling attachments. The ODIN Chassis System includes a grip adapter that closes the gap from the grip to trigger housing, keeping the transition to a minimum and providing a more enjoyable shooting experience. The chassis accepts all non-beavertail AR-15 grips, although some beavertail grips are compatible with minor modifications to the grip. The ODIN Chassis System also fits all standard, non-takedown receivers excluding the Supergrade. Other notable ODIN Chassis System specs include:

• Material: 6061-T6 Billet Aluminum

• Weight: 12.22 oz (including all hardware)

• Dimensions: 12.75” (L), 1.5” (W), 1.5” (H)

• Stocks: 3 Picatinny slots at the rear of chassis

• Attachments: MLok slots at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock

• QD Inserts: 2 nitrided 360° steel inserts

• Barrel channel inner dimension: 1.015″

• Barrel lengths: Using a 6″ barrel brings the threaded muzzle to .575″ past the handguard, exposing threads for silencers.

The new ODIN Chassis System is available online to customers in the US (excluding Puerto Rico) for an MSRP of $225 and includes the ODIN Chassis in anodized black along with all required hardware. Viridian announces free webinar for law enforcement: over 500 PDs using weapon-mounted cameras

Monday, June 17th, 2019

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – June 17, 2019 – Viridian Weapon Technologies has announced an upcoming webinar for law enforcement discussing why over 500 police departments across the country have started the process of implementing the FACT Duty™ Weapon-Mounted Camera (WMC™). The webinar is free and will be hosted on Thursday, June 20 at 10:00 a.m. CDT. Those interested in taking part in the conversation and learning more about the WMC can sign up for the webinar here.

“This webinar is a unique opportunity to learn more about the WMC and find out why over 500 departments are putting the device to use in the field,” said Viridian President and CEO Brian Hedeen. “The FACT Duty WMC provides an unobstructed view of what really happened during gun-drawn incidents, and it begins recording automatically when the firearm is drawn from the holster. These features alone offer a straightforward, vital supplement or alternative to current body camera programs.”

The expert staff at Viridian will discuss the video evidence system that is quickly becoming part of the solution to mitigating one of the biggest issues facing law enforcement today. The FACT Duty provides an unobstructed view from the end of the firearm, showing what really happened during firearm-involved use-of-force incidents. With INSTANT-ON® activation upon draw, it offers an easy-to-implement strategy for capturing high-risk and significant liability exposure situations.

Virtual attendees will hear from Viridian National Sales Manager, Kevin Skalicky, and Viridian General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer, Matthew Plowman. The two hosts will discuss findings from the field, provide updates on the over 500 departments in the process of testing and implementing WMCs across the country and be available to answer any questions.

Free registration is open now. More information on the FACT Duty, Viridian and the entire lineup at ViridianWeaponTech.com.

S&W Has Issued An M&P15-22 Consumer Safety Alert

Tuesday, June 11th, 2019

Smith & Wesson has issued a consumer safety alert on all M&P15-22 rifles and pistols manufactured before February 1st, 2019. S&W has discovered that some recently manufactured 15-22s feature a defect causing a lack of proper depth of the breech face counter bore. This defect can cause a closed bolt to crush the rim of a chambered .22 round, causing it to unintenionally fire, cycling the bolt, and potentially causing multiple discharges without depressing the trigger.

S&W is providing a free bolt inspection gauge which can be ordered by consumers to determine whether their 15-22 is within manufacturer specifications. Alternatively, S&W is also offering consumers the option to send their bolt in for a free inspection, and replacement if necessary.

Since the 15-22 is a pretty popular and affordable plinker, there’s a chance at least a few of you own one, so if that is the case, get it checked out.

Hi-Point Firearms – ‘Name The Nine’ Contest

Thursday, June 6th, 2019

For those of you who aren’t aware, Hi-Point revealed a new, unnamed, 9mm pistol design at this year’s SHOT Show. A more “modern” take on the C9, the new 9mm pistol featured a slide with front and rear charging serrations, a threaded barrel, a double-stack flush-fit 10 round mag, and interchangeable backstraps.

Now, Hi-Point is looking to the public to come up with a new name for this pistol, with their ‘Name The Nine’ contest. Running today through June 13th, entrants can visit Hi-Point’s website and enter their name for the new Hi-Point 9mm pistol. The best entries will be chosen by Hi-Point, and in the second phase of the contest, running June 18th through June 24th, visitors will be tasked with selecting their favorite name among the phase one winners.

The overall winner will, of course, receive one of the brand-new, yet-to-be-named pistols w/ personalized serial number, and 250 rounds of Barnaul 9mm ammo.

Good luck to the contest entrants! And good luck to Hi-Point, who’ll have to deal with the draining task of sorting through thousands of joke/meme entries.

    Wednesday, April 24th, 2019

YRS Inc. is currently selling IGB Austria 16″ barrels for Glock 9×19 and .357 SIG models. The barrels are made of non-specified “European high grade barrel steel”, with a plasma nitride finish, and a 1:10 twist rate with button rifling. However, these barrels are designed to function as is when installed, so if having a Glock capable of shooting down the Batwing is your goal, have at it!

Shot Tower: How Lead Shot Is Made

    Monday, April 22nd, 2019

This interesting video from 1950 shows how lead shot for shotshells used to be made in a shot tower in Edmonton, Greater London. Shot Towers were in use for making lead shot since the late 18th century, although this process has largely been supplanted with modern manufacturing techniques, such as the Bliemeister method.

Palmetto State Armory – “Approval-15” Stripped AR Lower Receiver

    Thursday, April 18th, 2019

PSA has released many ‘meme’ lowers, and has more in the pipeline, but the “Approval-15” is arguably the greatest so far. It features the (in)famous ATF Guy (Peter Parker from the 1967 Spider-Man cartoon with an ATF ballcap photoshopped onto his head) prominently on the magwell and the selector switch markings ‘no & no’ (safe), ‘maybe, but no’ (semi), and ‘yes, but really no’ (full-auto). Like all PSA lowers, the “Approval-15” is built to MilSpec standard, made of forged 7075-T6 aluminum with a MIL-A-8625, Type III, Class 2 black anodized finish.

It’s also reportedly only being offered once, so if you want to get one for yourself, now’s the time.

MagChuks securely mount around the factory 33-round baseplate, so no need to modify existing magazines to work with it. Additionally, the manufacturer notes that MagChuks are “100% guaranteed to guard your virginity.”, and are (seriously) patent pending.

    CMMG Adds .40 S&W

    Tuesday, March 26th, 2019

Boonville, MO – CMMG tames the snappy .40 S&W by pairing it with its (patent pending) Radial Delayed Blowback (RDB) operating system in its BANSHEE™ and RESOLUTE™ models.

CMMG’s innovative Radial Delayed Blowback operating system incorporates a mechanical delay that forces the bolt to rotate and unlock, momentarily slowing the bolt carrier group, which allows chamber pressures to fall before cycling. This mechanical delay allows for reliable function with a wide variety of ammunition and removes the need for a heavy bolt, buffer and spring required in direct blowback systems. Radial Delayed Blowback significantly cuts felt recoil, directs more gas down the barrel resulting in cleaner function and real advantages when using a suppressor.

Unlike most Pistol Caliber Carbines (PCC’s), CMMG rifles and pistols that feed from Glock magazines include the shooter-friendly Last Round Bolt Hold Open feature (patent pending).

A BANSHEE or RESOLUTE in .40 S&W is the perfect complement to millions of Glock .40 caliber handguns currently in the hands of American consumers and law enforcement.

The .40 S&W will be offered in both CMMG’s BANSHEE and RESOLUTE line of firearms, with barrel lengths of 5 inches, 8 inches and 16 inches. Starting at 4 pounds 12 ounces and an overall length of just 19.2 inches. One 22-round factory Glock .40 S&W magazine included where allowed.

XTech Tactical Joins Front Lines with Commufornia Special

    Thursday, February 28th, 2019

    February 28th, 2019 – Mesa, AZ
XTech Tactical, a rapidly growing innovative firearms accessory manufacture, is now shipping its MAG47 10/30 (MSRP $29.95) as its introduction of the “Commufornia Special” magazine line. The MAG47, which has widely been established as the greatest US Made AK Magazine, is now available for those in states that currently do not permit standard capacity magazines.

The MAG47 10/30, just like the MAG47 features:

-Stainless steel reinforced feed lips and locking lugs
    -Stainless steel spring
    -Tool free disassembly and reassembly
    -Industry leading polymer
-Waffle and tread pattern to ease in extraction and insertion
    -Counts as 3 922r components
    -MADE IN USA

The MAG47 10/30 will not function if its blocker is removed due to its reduced spring, and the magazine is only marked as a 10-round magazine. Rebuild kits will be available from the company should users relocate to free states or their local laws change to permit standard capacity magazines.

The company will donate $1 per “Commufornia Special” magazine from its website for the life of the “Commufornia Special” line. This donation will go towards efforts that protect the inherent Constitutional rights of all Americans. XTech Tactical has selected Gun Owners of America (GOA) as the recipient of this donation. The magazines will also ship with a $5 off annual membership offer to Gun Owners of America.

“XTech Tactical has historically chosen to not consider producing any state compliant products. Our rational has been that such products quiet those in restrictive states. We hope that the message of the “Commufornia Special” line will unify, educate, and assist those in restrictive states to fight for the rights of all Americans. This is our way of joining the front line of the fight! We are excited to work with the team at Gun Owners of America and encourage other manufactures to consider similar partnerships with organizations fighting to retain our rights”, stated Jeremy Deadman, XTech Tactical’s Director of Sales and Marketing.

Dealers can contact dealers@xtechtactical.com or contact Zanders Sporting Goods.

FLUX Defense – FLUX Glock Pistol Brace

    Tuesday, February 12th, 2019

Pistols braces are the current ‘in’ thing for firearms, so it’s no surprise that someone’s released one specific for one of the most popular handgun brands on the market. That someone is FLUX Defense, with their FLUX pistol brace for Glocks. Two models are currently on offer: a G17 and a G19 model; both are compatible with other Glocks that share the same frame size (ex: 22, 34, etc. for the G17 model, and 23 and 32 for the G19 model).

ioscribe – 3D printed Banana Standard Pistol

    Saturday, February 9th, 2019

Youtuber ioscribe shows off a fully-functioning 3D-printed Glock-pattern frame. The frame, called the Banana Standard, was printed out of PLA at 0.1mm layer heights, and is fully functional, except for an issue with the slide and recoil spring being too heavy to function when used in conjunction with a suppressor.

You can check out more of the Banana Standard, including some earlier iterations, and a 3D-printed VZ61 Skorpion frame, on ioscribe’s channel – www.youtube.com/channel/UCHdVwKz3nA_gaYXL9cEME0A

    X Products – XCM-9 Modular 9mm Pistol Drum Magazine

    Monday, January 28th, 2019

Conceptually, this is actually a pretty neat product. The XCM-9 is a 9mm drum magazine with a degree of modularity that allows it to be compatible with a variety of popular 9mm double-stack pistols on the market, such as those manufactured by Glock and Smith & Wesson, among others. The ‘magazine tower’ is the component that swaps out, and not only allows for magazine compatibility between various 9mm pistols, but also comes in different tower heights to accommodate for compact and full size profile grips. The total capacity for the XCM-9 is variable, depending on the tower used on the mag, but it maxes out at 69 rounds. At 5″ in diameter, and sure to be fairly hefty fully loaded, it might be a bit bulky for use with a pistol, if not making for a fun day at the range. However, it seems like it could be a decent companion to a compatible pistol caliber carbine.

Available for pre-order now direct from X Products, with a planed launch date within March 2019.

Forgotten Weapons – Shooting the H&K MP5K Operational Briefcase

    Monday, January 7th, 2019

The Operational Briefcase is a method developed by H&K for security personnel to discretely carry a sub gun in business and executive environments. Ian of Forgotten Weapons not only demonstrates live fire of one of these briefcase firearms, but also briefly shows off an earlier model case that was a bit less discreet than the later/more modern ‘trigger handle’ version.

    Standard Manufacturing – S333 Volleyfire

    Saturday, January 5th, 2019

It’s SHOT month, so new firearms are filling up the news feed, but occasionally you see a gun that is so unique compared to the contemporary affair that you can’t help but give it notice. Standard Manufacturing’s S333 Voleyfire happens to be that gun. The S333 is a double-barrel, double-action revolver with a steel cylinder that holds 8 rounds of .22 Win Mag. The twin hammers are concealed within the aluminum frame, and the trigger consists of an enlongated bow sized for two fingers, along with an “integral articulated” trigger safety more akin to those seen on many modern striker-fired semi-auto pistols.

The S333 is designed specifically as a carry revolver, with its compact size and noted capability of producing an 8-round volley of shots within 3 seconds and 4 trigger pulls. Standard Manufacturing also notes that a combination of standard ammunition and birdshot “…will deliver an incredible combination of firepower and very light recoil.”

My Southern Tactical – ‘Bounty Hunter’ PMAG

    Saturday, December 15th, 2018

Website ‘My Southern Tactical’ sells a wide variety of PMAGs with custom printing, for those who like their magazines to have a bit of flair. The ‘Bounty Hunter’ model seen above is, of course, modeled after the Mythosaur skull sigil made popular by its apperance on Boba Fett’s Mandalorian armor. It’s even further detailed with the appropriate green and yellow color accents.
