A beast of a blaster, the Doominator features 4 flipping drums which are manually switched via the two-finger lever underneath the trigger guard. Each drum holds 6 darts, for a total of 24 darts when fully loaded. It’s a pump-action blaster; it comes with a grip that can screw into the 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock, and 9 o’clock positions of the action to make cycling easier.

Dazzle It App
October 1st, 2015You may be wondering why we’re covering a mobile device app inspired by and featuring the recent work of Sir Peter Blake, celebrated pop artist. Well, it all has to do with a bit of history in the application of camouflage.
This is an image of the USS West Mahomet, painted in Dazzle camouflage, which involves complex patterns of geometric shapes in contrasting colors, interrupting and intersecting each other. It was used by the British and United States principally during WWI, and was designed to make it difficult for enemy vessels to estimate a ship’s range, speed, and heading.
The Dazzle It app allows users to ‘Dazzle’ any image available on their phone, or taken by their camera, by putting it through any one of various filters. This new camouflage pattern can then be applied to a variety of virtual ships and other watercraft which displays as a 3D model. As you can see in the images, we decided to go a bit more contemporary, utilizing a MultiCam base and putting it through a ‘Kaleidoscope’ pattern.
We then applied this pattern to various ships, including the HMS President.
There’s even an augmented reality aspect of the app, which allows you to anchor the ship of your choosing to a live background. We found this to be a little wonky in practice, but that might have something to do with trying to place a camouflaged ship on a camouflage background.
The Dazzle It app is available through both iTunes and the Google Play store for free.

September 19th, 2015The Operator Theme Song Revisited
September 18th, 2015It’s been a while since I’ve shared what should be considered the ultimate Operator theme song.
The post from back when I originally posted this:
This is a song by the band Psychostick called ‘Obey the Beard’. The video was done in Source Film Maker using Team Fortress 2 character models. Brand new operator theme song anyone?
So, Uh, Who Needs Ammo?
September 17th, 2015Ultimate Gun Game
September 16th, 2015Started in Counter Strike, and made all the more popular by its inclusion in several Call of Duty titles, Gun Game has a simple premise: the player starts with a pistol, and each kill grants them a new weapon. Whoever makes a kill with every weapon first wins. The folks at Corridor Digital took this concept to the logical extreme, introducing all manner of video game weaponry within a live-action rendition.
NERF Rival – Apollo XV-700
September 15th, 2015NERF Rival is the latest line of NERF blasters, with a strong competitive theme in that each blaster and accessory is available in either a ‘Team Red’ or ‘Team Blue’ configuration (I’ll let you guess what colors are associated with each team). The blasters are also named after Greek gods, and they fire ball-shaped “high impact rounds” rather than the familiar darts.
This particular gun, the Apollo XV-700, actually has a pretty cool set of features:
– Mechanical safety above the trigger guard
– Top mounted charging handle, reminiscent of the FAMAS
– Accessory rails (a bit smaller than Picatinny standard; trust me, I tried mounting an EOTech just for giggles)
– Seven-shot magazine, which seats within the pistol grip
Oh, and it kicks like a beast, at least by NERF standards, when it fires. Given the projectiles sport a 100 fps velocity, you’d figure it would have to have a pretty strong action.
I only have two complaints:
1) The charging handle obscures the sight profile of the Apollo
2) There’s not a lot of grip room to place your off-hand, since the rear of the Apollo holds the spring assembly.
The best part, though? They actually call the magazine a magazine. Now that’s what I call progress.

September 14th, 2015Artist Ryan B. Flowers has expanded upon his Galac-Tac Mandalorian-inspired combat wear, and it’s now featured on its own website. The armor is made of high-impact semi rigid urathane, while the helmet is made of the same urathane, with a visor made of 1/8″ lexan.
Thanks to ‘RB’ from Facebook for the tip!
