In these trying times of ours, the last thing many people are thinking of is spending money on a high-priced replica lightsaber, however if you’re going to, it might as well be a replica of the Darksaber. Hasbro has adapted this iconic Star Wars weapon into a collectable under their Black Series line, and it’s seriously cool. The Black Series Darksaber consists of a full-metal grip and black blade with white LED blade edge. Like other lightsabers in the Black series, the Darksaber features authentic sound effects, including power up and down, battle clash effects, and motion-sensor-controlled idle hum. Plus, it’s the first ever Black series lightsaber to feature a rechargeable battery.
This particular collectable is proving to be quite the hot commodity. It’s already sold out on the official Hasbro product page, and other retailers are showing no available stock, but if you manage to get a hold of one, good on you.
Also, it’s worth mentioning that this product is up for pre-order, and will ship sometime in August 2021.
Fans of constructor sets and arguably the most standout charcter in the original Star Wars trilogy may want to give The LEGO Star Wars Boba Fett Helmet Model Kit a look. The LEGO Star Wars Boba Fett Helmet model kit is a LEGO set designed more for experienced LEGO builders, and adult fans, with an 18+ age rating. It consists of 625 pieces, so it’s fairly elaborate, but that shows through its impresive level of detail. When fully constructed, the helment measures 8.5″ x 4.5″ x 4.5″, and sits on a base with nameplate, so it won’t take up much space on a desk or shelf.
‘The Mandalorian’ is, save ‘Rogue One’, the only salvageable thing to come out of Disney’s acquisition of the Star Wars property. That’s why it’s actually worth taking a look at Sideshow Collectables and Hot Toy’s IG-11 1/6 Scale figurine. Based on the IG-11 Bounty Hunter droid featured as a character in ‘The Mandalorian’, the IG-11 figurine comes in at roughly 14″ tall, with over 29 points of articulation, including an enhanced waist articulation which allows for a full 360 degree spin, just like in the show. The metallic grayish-black armor exterior is painted with accurate weather effects, and molded with precise pipe and wire details, and the mechanical head piece features LED light-up function. The IG-88 figure comes complete with the following accessories:
One (1) pair of articulated mechanical graspers
One (1) heavy blaster
One (1) blaster rifle
One (1) leather-like double shoulder belt with ammo pouches
Specially designed desert-themed figure stand with Star Wars logo and character nameplate
Like all Hot Ones releases, this is a pre-order, with an estimated arrival of October – December 2020.
‘The Child’ aka ‘Baby Yoda’ is the breakout character in the recent ‘The Mandalorian’ Star Wars series. Given the character’s immense popularity, why wouldn’t Disney and Sideshow Collectables take the opportunity to release a $350 life-sized replica for all the fans to add to their collection? Coming in at 16.5″ tall, ‘The Child’ figure is made of plastic, resin, and fabric, with a tan fabric coat, and the shift knob from the Razor crest hidden away in its right hand. Like most Sideshow offerings, it’s available for pre-order for the initial release, with an estimated arrival between August and October of this year.
Anovos, noted manufacturer of licensed prop replicas and costumes from properties such as Star Wars and Marvel, currently has a build kit of Boba Fett’s EE-3 Blaster from Return of the Jedi up for pre-order. The kit, a 1:1 replica based on scans, measurements, and photographs taken of the original screen use production assets, ships in 7 parts, and does require clean up and physical assembly. It also comes in a solid safety orange color, so you’ll also have to paint this one for it to be 100% display or cosplay ready. It’s so accurate, in fact, that you can see some of the detail from the original 37mm Webley & Scott No.1 Mark 1 Flare Gun the EE-3 screen model was built around.
LEGO will soon be releasing not just one of its largest Star Wars sets, but one of its largest sets yet released in general: the Imperial Star Destroyer ‘Devastator’ from the opening scene of Star Wars Episode 1: A New Hope. Consisting of almost 4800 pieces, this set is sized 14″ H x 43″ L x 26″ W fully constructed; 17″ high when set on its included display stand. It features swiveling guns, a tilting radar dish, huge engine exhausts, and intricate surface detailing. While it’s designed so that it can be picked up and handled, this is one by its very nature that’s designed to go straight into a display case.
Unfortunately, the included Minifigures are a bit limited: you get an Imperial Officer and Imperial Crewmember, each with their own pistol weapons. However, the set comes complete with a scale model of the rebel Tantive IV ship, and a TIE Fighter, both of which can be set within the docking bay, which is pretty cool.
Check out the video below to see LEGO Senior Designer Henrik Andersen go over the set and his process for designing it:
The Imperial Star Destroyer ‘Devastator’ set releases October 1st, or September 18th for LEGO VIP members.
YouTube channel MetaBallStudios produced this video, which compares the sizes of various objects and beings within the Star Wars universe, from the lowliest lightsaber, to the grandiose Starkiller Base AKA the creatively bankrupt super-ultra-mega Death Star, and even planetary bodies beyond, up to Yavin Prime. Truthfully, the scale of ships and planets within Star Wars wasn’t ever really a personal interest, but it’s definitely interesting to see how vast some of the vehicles get, especially when they start dwarfing modern day cities in scope.
Boba Fett, who’s coolness factor way overshadows the relative ease by which he met his demise in ‘Return of the Jedi’, has been given the life-size replica treatment by Sideshow Collectables, in collaboration with noted prop replica specialists Tom Spina Designs. Standing in at over 6 feet tall, ligh up theme base included, this replica features authentically replicated armor, along with an articulated helmet with adjustable rangefinder, detailed fabric costume, light-up chest panel, and braided Wookie scalp; not to mention his weapons and jetpack.
Ultimately, who among us wouldn’t want a life-size Boba Fett replica in their possession? The answer is: anyone who doesn’t want to spend $8500 on one. Yeah, the price is pretty steep, but, hey, at least the shipping’s free.
It’s a bit early for Halloween costume ideas, but if you’re looking to dress up and surplus fatigues and gear aren’t looking too appealing, then why not give the classic ‘roguish-smuggler-encased-in-carbonate’ look a try? Available for pre-order on Entertainment Earth, this Han Solo in Carobonite costume is pretty self-explanatory. It consists of an inflatable carbonite slab with battery-operated fan, grey gloves, and a Han Solo in carbonite mask.
Anvos, noted movie and television prop replica maker, is releasing a movie-accurate replica of Luke Skywalker’s ‘Red Five’ Rebel Pilot Helmet from the Battle of Yavin AKA the destruction of the Death Star. Created from digital scans, as well as measurements of the original prop and references from screen-used production assets, this helmet features an exterior made of ABS plastic with a fully-lined interior, including comlink boom and earcup cushions. This helmet is adjustable, however only up to a US 8 hat size.
As is usually the case with products like these, it’s available as for pre-order, and is estimated to be available on January 2019.
Hot Toys is producing a highly-detailed 1/6 scale figure baseed on Han Solo as seen in ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’. The figure will feature a newly-developed head sculpt, and accessories including Han’s iconic DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol, a communicator, and Han’s gold-colored lucky dice. Seen above is the deluxe version, which will come with Han’s Vandor cold weather gear; an image of the standard version can be seen below.
This figure is available for pre-order, with an expected delivery date between July and September 2019.
Made by Etsy store lovemycustomwood, this Millennium Falcon model comes in at 32 1/2″ x 21 1/2″, and is carved from solid white cedar. The shop also offers other Star Wars themed pieces, including a smaller Falcon at half the price, various SW helmets, and an AT-AT and TIE Fighter.
Let’s be honest, no one’s going to feel right playing roles originally filled by Harrison Ford and Billy Dee Williams, plus ‘The Last Jedi’ was a dumpster fire.
Yeah, you’re going to see a lot of Star Wars on here in the coming weeks, what with Episode VIII coming out (very) soon, and Disney pumping out the licensed products like clockwork.
Anyway, Bandai Japan is releasing a meticulously-detailed 1/72 scale model of the Millennium Falcon under their ‘Perfect Grade’ series, which is their line of meticulously-detailed plastic model kits. Made of ABS plastic, the kit is based on “thorough research of the 67-inch studio model used in [A New Hope]”. That translates to photo-etched parts, water-transfer decals, and an LED unit which illuminates the engines, landing gear, cockpit, and boarding ramp. It also includes seated Han, Luke, Leia, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan, and C-3PO figurines.
The best part? No glue required!
The price? Four Benjamins, but this is a hobby-grade, highly-detailed model, so that price isn’t unexpected.
Rogue One was pretty great, and one of its best characters is K-2SO, the reprogrammed Imperial security droid with the snarky attitude. For those of us to whom money is no object, Sideshow Collectables is releasing a “life size” K-2SO figurine for you to proudly display in your location of choice. And when they say “life size”, they mean it; K-2SO stands at 94″ (~8 ft.) tall, and features weathered and detailed armor, red and yellow details on his shoulders and panels, and an Empire logo on his shoulder. The statue is made of fiberglass, resin, and non-descript metal, with a poseable head and light-up eyes.
This is (understandably) a limited edition piece, with a hefty price tag of… wait for it… $8900. But, luckily for any prospective buyers, there’s an affordable payment plan; just $801 a month, and, get this, the shipping is free!
The Exogorth, AKA that space slug the Millennium Falcon flies out of in Empire Strikes Back, is now immortalized in Snow Globe form thanks to ThinkGeek and their licensing of the Star Wars brand. If your suspension of disbelief ends at how this particlar scene makes for a good snow globe, the product specification states it could be hundreds of Mynocks (the bat creatures that latch onto the ship in the same scene), so we’ll go with that.
The Star Wars license can be found all over the place, from the expected – toys, games, clothing, collectables, to the weird – instruments, cookbooks, and even a sick bag. This line of fitness equipment from Onnit edges more towards the weird side, not so much because it’s fitness equipment with Star Wars licensing, but because it consists of items including a Death Star slam ball and a Boba Fett kettlebell. After all, there’s no better way to get in shape than cleaning a galactic bounty hunter’s head, or doing yoga on Han Solo’s carbonited body.
I’m not the biggest fan of store exclusive variants, but GameStop is currently offering a pre-order for a NERF Rival Apollo XV-700 Blaster with an exclusive Mandalorian paint job, and a matching mask.
The NERF Rival line consists of various unique blasters that fire foam spheres rather than darts, and feed from translucent magazines. The Rival in the name comes from the fact that the blasters in the series are generally available in either solid blue or red colors, signifying opposite teams. While I would have liked to see a more Mandalorian-inspired face mask, all the same, this is a cool release if you’re into NERF and Star Wars.
The release date for the Mandalorian Apollo XV-700 w/ Face Mask is November 17th of this year, coinciding with the release of ‘Star Wars: Battlefront 2’.
Hot Toys has another impressive-looking Star Wars 1/6 scale figurine coming out, this time of Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin, as he appeared in ‘A New Hope’. This figure features a newly developed head scuplt, a remarkable likeness of actor Peter Cushing, along with a cloth Imperial uniform, and Tarkin’s high back chair.

Check out this reveal trailer for Star Wars Battlefront II, which premiered as part of this year’s Star Wars Celebration. DICE’s Battlefront, a reboot of the beloved Star Wars Battlefront series developed by Pandemic Studios in the mid 2000s, was a technically-impressive but somewhat lackluster game, featuring gorgeous graphics mixed with what ultimately felt more like Battlefield groundplay in a Star Wars skin, and vehicle combat which many gamers felt paled in comparison to its predecessor series. This sequel promises an actual story campaign, along with key battles from all three eras of the current Star Wars mainline canon, and the addition of space combat.
Hopefully, with this iteration of the Battlefront series, the game truly improves on its predecessor, and draws a bit more from Pandemic’s previous take on the franchise.
Hasbro and Gentle Giant Studios has partnered up to produce a new line of Star Wars Black action figurines, inspired by the original Star Wars Kenner toys in both sculpt and packaging, but updated with over 20 points of articulation, and better accessories.
All 12 of the original 1978 Kenner figures will be represented in this line, with the first wave comprising of the following:
Han Solo
Luke Skywalker
Obi Wan
Princess Leia
R2-D2
Anovos, known for their extremely high-quality licensed costumes and props, is releasing a replica Death Trooper helmet based on the upcoming Rogue One film. The helmet, digitally scanned from the actual movie props, is made of fiberglass, with a fully lined interior.
If you have $615 lying around, you can pre-order the helmet at the link below:
OK, so these two items are in no way, shape, or form known in any official terms as the “Tatooine Cosplay Starter Kit”. However, if you are looking for either a foam Tusken Raider’s Gaffi Stick, or are cosplaying as a Gamorrean guard (The pig guys that guard Jabba’s palace) and need one of their weapons (in foam), then these are honestly your best bet. We got ours on Disney property, so if you’re ever in the area be on the lookout for them.
Nixon Watches has released a collection of Star Wars-themed watches and accessories. As is usual, I’m focusing largely on the gear themed after the galaxy’s most feared bounty hunter, although Nixon’s offerings extend to other themes, such as R2-D2, Darth Vader, and Stormtroopers, as expected.
A-10 Backpack
The A-10 Backpack is a top loading pack made of distress PU coated canvas, in a colorway resembling Boba Fett’s outfit. The main storage compartment features zipper closure and internal organization, and the pack also sports two vertical front accessory pockets, a side entry laptop compartment, and stretch mesh side pockets. Plus, it comes with a Han Solo in carbonite zipper pull.
The Ranger SW watch, in ‘Boba Fett Red / Gray’, features Miyota Japanese quartz 3-hand movement, and a 44mm, 10 ATM custom stainless steel case. Additional features include a unidirectional stainless steel bezel, a date window at 6 o’clock, and maroon metallic anodized aluminum bezel inlay with orange Boba Fett kill stripe detailing.
