The Norseman Cometh

(null)

The Norseman Cometh. The first offering in the Agents of the Collapse Series. Sculpted by Mikkel Frandsen. Available as 1:9 and 1:35 scale figures with bases. Cast in Flesh and Grey resin.

To see forward in some situations you must look to the past. Or at least that was the words of a man known a Hrafn. At the twilight of the 21st century the world was in utter chaos. Between devastating natural disasters in the United States, Africa being over run with disease and famine, and the nuclear holocaust in Russia after the fall of the second Soviet empire. Europe stands alone crumbling with what resources and technology they have left. However one island nation formerly known as the United Kingdom still has resources and a sense of society. In relative isolation the inhabitants of this once proud nation struggle to rebuild and preserve the culture of modern man. Myths of the Norsemen of 723 were nothing but a some historical tale told to children. Until one day when ships appeared on the horizon of the Thames Estuary. Not the ships of modern man, but some wooden vessels of the past with the heads of dragons. This incident stuck fear into the heart of the surviving nation. Looting and pillaging began to occur up and down the english coast. This incident became known the second coming of the Norseman. This scourge will continue on as resources continue to dwindle in this once so called modern world.

Now on Kickstarter – Draggin Bags

Monday, February 23rd, 2015

Now, on Kickstarter is Draggin Bags, the creation of SSD reader Garrett Lommatsch.

(null)

These bags are completely made in the USA, and are built out of 3″ military spec webbing instead of fabric. This makes them significantly tougher and more durable than any other bag on the market, perfect for hard use applications. As an EMT, Garrett wanted a better bag for my personal first aid kits, with a dash of engineering they became tougher than any adventure.

Browning’s Buck Mark Carries Crimson Trace Laser Sight

Thursday, February 19th, 2015

(null)

(Wilsonville, OR)—While Browning Buck Mark pistols have been produced for several decades, and made available in many styles, the newest version introduced at the recent 2015 Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show is a tactical Buck Mark .22 pistol equipped with a Crimson Trace Rail Master. The Browning Buck Mark Black Label Carbon Fiber has a unique carbon fiber finish, a 4-inch steel barrel and an under barrel accessory rail. The firearms are shipped with a red Crimson Trace Rail Master laser sight pre-installed on that rail.

“We are very pleased to have a laser sight pre-installed on such a high-quality Browning product,” said Jeff Goddard, Crimson Trace Director of Sales. The new Buck Mark Black Label Carbon Fiber features textured grip panels, a gold plated trigger, and detachable magazine. There is also a second model, the Buck Mark Black Label Carbon Fiber Pink, with unique pink grips. The equipped handguns can be seen at: www.browning.com.

Crimson Trace’s Rail Masters are well known for being small, powerful, easy to operate, and for producing a brilliant laser dot onto the target. Rail Masters have been available with red diodes, and are now available with green diodes—the affordable CMR-206. Rail Masters feature tap-on Instant Activation, provide three modes of operation (momentary, strobe and constant on) and can be easily and quickly attached to nearly any firearm’s rails with Crimson Trace’s proprietary Secure Lock Technology.

Crimson Trace laser sights and light products can also be found pre-installed on firearms from Kimber, Ruger, Smith & Wesson, Beretta and others.

Hitman: Agent 47 – Trailer #1

Wednesday, February 11th, 2015

It’s a reboot of a movie based on a video game series. About the only three things they seemed to have gotten right about Agent 47 are:

1) He is a genetically modified assassin

2) He shaves his head

3) He kills people

Anyway, looks silly and too much like a “generic” action flick. Might be home media worthy.

Bug-A-Salt 2.0

Monday, February 9th, 2015

20150121101051-headerimage0121

Remember the Bug-A-Salt? Well, this is the Bug-A-Salt 2.0. The main draw for this new model, aside from the slick ‘bug camouflage’ exterior, is “more power, less salt”. The Bug-A-Salt 2.0 uses less salt per shot, for better ammo conservation and reduced cleanup, but also shoots farther than the original. Plus, they fixed the broken gear problem that was an issue with the original Bug-A-Salt. Check out the video below to see the Bug-A-Salt 2.0 in action.

A Hands-On Look At The .50 Caliber Vulcan Safety Razor

Saturday, February 7th, 2015

IMG_2979

A few days ago, I posted a link to a Kickstarter campaign for a double-edge safety razor made by a Veteran-owned business called Coxswain USA. I was sent a model for review purposes, my experiences with which you can read below.

IMG_2985

What’s unique about the Vulcan is spent .50 BMG casings are used for the handle. All components of the Vulcan are chrome plated, and Coxswain USA developed a specialized slug adapter to mate the handle to the razor plates.

IMG_2981

The safety razor itself comes fully assembled, without any DE blades. All disassembly requires is to screw the razor plates off. The plates are designed to accept most standard DE razor blades. At 4.3 oz it has a good weight to it, and the chrome coating offers a nice, clean look.

IMG_2983

I figured the best way to actually review the Vulcan was to actually shave with it. I went to closest chain drug store, picked up some DE razor blades, and gave it a whirl. The weight of the razor really helped with the shaving, and it offered a smooth, clean shave. This picture was taken about halfway through my shave. I did end up nicking myself a tiny bit, but that was entirely my own fault.

IMG_2988

Overall, I’ve had a very good experience with the Vulcan Razor. It shaves well, the repurposed .50 BMG casing offers a unique flair, and it’s made by a Veteran-owned business. If you’re interested in picking one up for yourself, you can check out the ongoing Kickstarter campaign, and also check out Coxswain USA’s website. Both links are below.
