Ignite Airsoft – BlackOps Line

October 9th, 2012

Ignite BlackOps is a line of professional grade airsoft guns and accessories. According to the tip giver, they’re comparable in quality to APS brand airsoft guns; sounds very promising. They’re also available at Walmart, so one shouldn’t have too much trouble grabbing one, if one were so inclined.

Infidel Caps Patch Case

October 6th, 2012

If you’re the guy with every morale patch in existence yet nowhere to store them, or just happen to sell them at shows and the like, then you might want to pick up an Infidel Caps Patch Case. The case started as a custom job commissioned by Infidel Caps, was shown to MSM, who added a few design tweaks, was then shown to Tactical Tailor, who further tweaked the design, and was finally put into production. Closed, it resembles a covert weapons case (15” x 29” x 1.5”) with carry handles, and a 3″ X 5″ Velcro loop panel on the front and back for nametapes and other patches. Fully opened, it covers an area of 29” x 94” using 6 internal panels of Velcro loop; that equals to upwards of 484 patches worth of space, depending on size.

Available in black and coyote brown on milspecmonkey.com.

Camouflage Swiss Army Knives

October 5th, 2012

It looks like the classic Victorinox Swiss Army Knife got an update with a design closely resembling Woodland-style camouflage. It contains 7 tools: knife, nail file w/ nail cleaner, screwdriver, scissors, toothpick, tweezers, and key ring, although models with an expanded combination of tools and camouflage options, including the huntsman in digital camo, are also available.

October 4th, 2012

So, out of all the ‘old’ action star films coming out in 2013, what’s looking best? This, that new Sly Stalone movie, or the Arnold flick I wrote about a while back?

The plot of this epic graphic novel is simple, “Special operations contractors, backed by Saudi petrodollars, wage a war of ruthless intrigue and clandestine violence against Iranian proxies and agents in the post-Iraq state, Basran.” But in this final volume, the “Black Powder Red Earth” story culminates in a 4 hour capture-kill raid as the Cold Harbor raiders hunt down an Iranian HVT responsible for the IRGC WMD program

ClearPlex iPhone 5 Screen Protector Vs. .410 Taurus Judge Public Defender

October 1st, 2012

I’ll be 100% honest: the only reason I put this video up is because someone is shooting an iPhone 5 with a Taurus Judge Public Defender, although a screen protector that protects a phone from the impact of .410 shot is intriguing. There’s also this ‘behind the scenes’ video that shows the method behind the madness.

Bear Grylls Parang Recall

September 30th, 2012

I was at REI today and I saw a recall notice for the Gerber Gear Bear Grylls Parang. It seems that there’s a weakness in the area where the blade meets the handle. This can cause either the blade or the handle to break during use which poses a laceration hazard. If you happened to have purchase one of these blades, you can register at this page, where Gerber will process your info, send out a prepaid FedEx box, and send you a replacement parang some weeks later. Given the quality of the blade, I’d rather receive a refund, but you get what you get, I suppose.

Black Ops 2 – Zombies Reveal Trailer

September 26th, 2012

The reveal trailer for zombies mode in the upcoming CoD: Black Ops 2 just came out today. Personally, I would have waited to release this until Halloween rolled around, but then again I’m also not a member of the marketing team for a billion dollar game franchise.

MultiCam In Kick-Ass 2

September 25th, 2012

Jim Carrey is playing Colonel Stars (in a MultiCam outfit to boot) in ‘Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall’, the upcoming sequel to ‘Kick-Ass’, the movie based on the comic of the same name.

WETA Workshop Portal Turret Replica

September 24th, 2012

I didn’t think WETA could top their previous gift to the fine folks at Valve, a replica of the engineer’s turret from Team Fortress 2. Then, they sent a replica of the turret from Portal, and I was proven wrong. Features motion tracking, deployable guns, and in-game sound effects and voice clips.

Recon Cigars

September 23rd, 2012

I was at a local gun show today and happened to see a company called Recon Cigars with a booth on display. Their product is named “The Triumphant Recon Cigar”. Each Recon is handrolled by expert “Torcedores” (cigar rollers) using high-quality leaves from regions with rich and fertile soils that produce rare and unique tobacco for filler, and “ECU” wrapper leaf grown in Quevedo and Babahoyo, Ecuador. The cigars are further adorned with hand cut and hand placed patches of Candela, South American Cameroon, and Criollo-Maduro wrapper that gives them a woodland-esque camouflage look. Additionally, a percentage of each purchase goes towards the charitable organization Hope For The Warriors.

M48 Apocalypse Series Tactical Tomahawk

September 22nd, 2012

While it has a bright green ‘zombie’ handle, the M48 Apocalypse Series Tomahawk does have some good features going for it. The 8″ head, constructed from 2Cr13 stainless steel, has two sharpened blades, the axe and spike. The 30% nylon reinforced handle secures the head with three separate bolts and is wrapped in black paracord. The M48 also comes with a nylon belt sheath with belt loop and snap closure buttons. It’s a United Cutlery piece, and they do offer a ‘non-zombified’ all-black version as well, if the Apocalypse model isn’t your thing.

Available on Amazon.com.

Herschel Anchor Computer Sleeve – Chocolate Chip Camo

September 20th, 2012

Herschel Supply Co.’s Anchor Computer Sleeve is fully padded with a fleece-lined interior. It’s designed to fit 11″, 13″, and 15″ computers. The camo pattern seems to be based heavily on the DBDU or Chocolate-Chip camo pattern used during the Gulf War by the US military; Herschel even marks it as ‘Desert Storm’ on their product line. Herschel also offers a small line of luggage that uses the same pattern, including these parcel and claim bags.

Roach Biobots

September 17th, 2012

Researchers at North Carolina State University have managed to turn Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches into biobots, which can be issued movement commands wirelessly. The process involved taking an off-the-shelf microcontroller and hooking it up to the roaches’ antennae and abdomen. Using this, they were able to issue the roach commands that fooled it into thinking either danger was near or that an obstacle was blocking its path, which is how the roach follows the set path seen in the video. It wouldn’t be surprising to see spy equipment in the near future developed using this technology, along with any number of uses people can come up with.

Target Joffrey Poster

September 15th, 2012

20120915-192419.jpg

Anyone who is familiar with ‘Game of Thrones’, or the book series it’s based on, knows that Joffrey Baratheon is a major jerkass, and that’s putting it lightly. Thanks to 604 Republic, however anyone can take out their frustration on a shooting target bearing his image. These full color 12.5″ by 18.5″ targets are printed on 100lb. stock paper using environmentally friendly vegetable soy based inks. My favorite element is the ‘Made In Winterfell’ tag on the lower-right corner of the target.
