Canada’s Premium Tactical Manufacturer Announces European Expansion

Monday, July 9th, 2018

The Requirements Group (TRG) European headquarters will be in the Netherlands

TORONTO, July 9, 2018 (Newswire.com) – With tremendous success in North America, the leading developer and manufacturer of premium tactical and outdoors products, The Requirements Group (TRG) is expanding to the European market to provide premium Canadian grade tactical and air-soft garments and accessories, launching its European headquarters officially in the Netherlands as of July 9, 2018.

Recently the tactical and outdoors equipment market has been flooded with low grade, unreliable products as a result of many manufacturers turning to factories in China with no experience in tactical products. This move has neglected the end user’s comfort and safety. The Requirements Group (TRG) sees this as an opportunity to turn around the market and deliver to the tactical professionals and outdoors consumers premium products which have been designed and tested by active and veteran tactical police, military and SAR (search & rescue) operators. All the requirements of the products are based on real-life experience of tactical and special forces operators.

With its two flagship brands; Shadow Elite and Shadow Strategic, TRG will be able to serve both the agency and civilian markets. Having its own factory allows TRG to source and manufacture products the way they are meant to be. Having the ability to regulate strict quality control is what the company prides itself on. Reducing production costs by not outsourcing to third-party factories passes on the savings of premium products to the customer.

“We are not your typical garment manufacturer. Tactical police and military work is in our bloodstream. Unlike other manufacturers who start off in regular outerwear and then see an opportunity in the tactical and air-soft world, we stick to what has been second nature to us for the past 80 plus years in combined experience,” says Glen Turpin, retired police officer, tactical expert and co-founder of The Requirements Group. “We are fortunate enough to have on our team, veteran and active frontline police and military operators who design and test the kit our end users wear and trust. As well as expert search & rescue (SAR) technicians testing the load bearing and rigging components of our kit. It would not be fair to the end user to have the products manufactured in a factory that one day produces load bearing tactical vests, and the next day dolls or nail clippers. This is why we invested so much into building our own factory where our dedicated expert workers and engineers focus on tactical kit every single day.”

Another benefit TRG has with its own factory, is the ability to service large agencies and tactical teams by customizing uniforms and equipment with specific technical and camouflage pattern requirements.

About the Requirements Group: The Requirements Group (TRG) is a law enforcement veteran owned and operated company. Based in Canada, it has expanded its distribution to hundreds of locations across North America. Its two leading brands are Shadow Elite and Shadow Strategic.

Shadow Elite products are engineered and built with the safety, comfort and demands of front line personnel in mind.

Shadow Strategic products are intended as an entry line. Quality products with lighter weight materials and less complex technical components.

With these two product lines, TRG can serve both the professional agency clients, as well as outdoor and airsoft enthusiasts.

The Forged Upper Conversion Kit: Cobalt Kinetics’ 50 State Solution for the AR-15 Platform

Sunday, July 8th, 2018

Washington Utah, July 5, 2018: Cobalt Kinetics Forged Upper Conversion Kit

In March 2018 Cobalt debuted the model 27 rifle. This offering departed from the company’s long-established BAMF platform in that the lower half was designed to have the feel of a more traditional rifle , and ended up being “compliant” (aka featureless) in restrictive markets like California. The lower receiver of the 27 does indeed mate up with Cobalt’s own AR-15 patterned upper but its cross-platform universality ended there. The grip and stock interface and even the trigger shelf were altered to meet regulations that define and subsequently prohibit a gun based on the geometry of the grip and stock. The receiver extension bears the cheek rest while the aggressively swept grip organically morphs into a stock. It’s made entirely of machined aluminum. It’s a beautiful thing- evidence of the skill and nuance appreciated by the talented artists, engineers and machinists at Cobalt Kinetics.
Now, as far as they dared depart from the norm with the release of the 27, this most recent rumbling from Cobalt would seem to deviate even further from their established traditions- the hand crafted individually fit rifles for which the company is known. This strategic pivot in product offering manages to connect the universal legality and utility of the 27 to the masses of AR-15 owners living under the shadow of anti-gun legislation. It’s called the Forged Upper Conversion Kit, and it presents as an empty lower half- complete with grip and stock and receiver extension and cheek rest- that has been redesigned (from Cobalt’s own signature aesthetic) to mate seamlessly with most all off-the-shelf AR patterned upper receivers. Like all of Cobalt’s wares, the Forged Upper Conversion Kit is still hewn from a solid block of 7075 T651 certified aluminum alloy, but machined to a contour that will indeed mate and function with nearly every AR-15 upper out there.
The Forged Upper Conversion Kit hits the market as a stripped lower- includes only the assembly hardware for the 13 stock components, buffer retainer, bolt catch screw, trigger guard and a couple of non-typical springs (selector and takedown detent). The rest is up to the builder. Cobalt Kinetics assures a 99% cross-brand compatibility as it applies to uppers, triggers, magazine catches and takedown hardware.

Skylar Stewart, Vice President of Cobalt Kinetics added:
“We have always heard the needs of our dealers and clients…More restrictive states (especially California) have been looking for a legal solution to a complicated and ever-changing legislative environment. We are proud of the Forged Upper Conversion Kit and we believe it’s the best way to maintain as much functionality as possible with the AR platform. It can be configured to be legal in all 50 states. The only non-standard parts this platform uses are included in the kit. California is a large and rich gun market that just suffered the enactment of the most sweeping anti-gun legislation since their 1999 assault weapon ban. If you look at the Forged Upper Conversion Kit, it’s apparent that it’s very labor intensive. It’s not an easy thing to produce at Cobalt’s level of quality. This kit is not about supporting our financial bottom line. We want to make this kit accessible to as many people as possible to make a real difference. It’s ridiculous for responsible gun owners to be turned into criminals overnight by misguided laws. At this moment we’re hoping to help support and maintain the shooting culture in our country.”

The Forged Upper Conversion Kit is being released in the “stripped” state at an Introductory MSRP of $699. It’s promised to be available for looks, feels, and buys at Cobalt’s dealers by mid-July. Standard catalog colors are Black, Stainless, Cobalt Kinetics Green, FDE, Gray and Cobalt (gunmetal gray). Contact Cobalt Kinetics for details, restrictions, and special order options.

Soda Can AR Lower Receiver

Friday, July 6th, 2018

Machining an 80% AR receiver can be a fairly involved process, depending on your own availability of tools and machining experience. YouTuber GunCraft101 took making an AR lower more than a bit further, and sand cast and machined his own receiver, in the process using over 200 aluminum beverage cans. Noting that aluminum cans are typically a blend of magnesium and aluminum, with other trace metals, various industrial chemicals and additives, and a different grade of aluminum than those used for typical AR receivers, this is best observed as a curiosity rather than emulated. All the same, it really shows that a bit of technical know how, experimentation, and effort can combine to form some pretty cool results.

ZEROHOUR Apex Bolt Action Pen

Monday, July 2nd, 2018

ZEROHOUR is currently running a Kickstarter campaign for the APEX Bolt, a ‘bolt-aciton’ version of their popular APEX Tactical Pen. What makes the APEX a Tactical Pen? In the original’s case, it was made of extremely durable materials (aluminum or titanium), featured a Fisher space pen cartridge, and had a tungsten steel glass-breaking tip/striking point. The APEX Bolt continues this trend, with a choice of either an aluminum or titanium body, Fisher Space Pen cartridge, Ceramic glass-breaking tip/striking point, and new to the Bolt, a ‘bolt-action’ pen actuation mechanism, and a hex-bit socket.

At the time of writing, this campaign was already funded over 3 times its initial goal, however as always you can still fund the project and secure a pen for yourself.

Tachyon: A Weapon Mounted Computer For Airsoft

Thursday, June 28th, 2018

Tachyon is a seriously cool project up for funding on Indiegogo. A creation of Martin Hrehor of Košice, Slovakia, Tachyon is a weapon-mounted computer designed for use with airsoft rifles. Taking cues from Sci-Fi weapons, such as the MA5 series rifles from Halo and the M41A Pulse Rifle from Aliens, the Tachyon is able to display a programmable, active ammunition count, which is represented both as a numeric and graphical counter, which tracks shots via an infrared sensor mounted to the barrel. The Tachyon also has an adjustable brightness setting, clock, and battery monitor. Additionally, Tachyon mounts onto a Picatinny rail assembly, and had its own top-mounted rail, for attaching an optic.

At the time of writing, the initial run of 24 units were already claimed, so only non-reward contributions can be made at this time. Still, if all goes well with the project, it’s rather likely we’ll see more of the Tachyon later on.

Black Aces Tactical announces a new Semiautomatic Shockwave

Tuesday, June 26th, 2018

Black Aces Tactical (BAT), an American manufacturer best known for its patented custom shotguns, is excited to announce the release of the company’s new Semiautomatic Shockwave and Peacekeeper shotguns.

Said Lemoine, “The Shockwave platform has been nothing short of a phenomenon. We have always felt, and more importantly the customers have always felt, that a semiautomatic version is inevitable. The brass ring has always been a semiautomatic 12 gauge platform in the most compact package possible. We feel that we have created an incredible weapon here.”.

At $949 retail – a shooter has choices. Both the Semiautomatic Shockwave and Peacekeeper Pistol Grip versions can be had in 18.5 6+1 trim as well as the uber cool 12.5” 4+1 SBS trim. For a few dollars more, Black Aces Tactical will install a 6 position folding stock.

“For as long as we can remember, the gun industry has been playing follow the leader. Our goal is to give the customer something that other manufacturers won’t.”.

Both the Shockwave Semiautomatic and Peacekeeper Pistol Grip models feature a number of innovations.

First and most obvious, the recoil assembly must be relocated and old recoil tube modified to accept the grip. Next the gas ports are tuned to operate both low and high brass. Finally the trigger is addressed in order to facilitate fast feeding. “Being that we use a Remington 1100 base, we have identified addressed a number of weak points.”, said Lemoine.

DARPA GXV-T Demonstration Of Hybrid Wheel-Track

Monday, June 25th, 2018

As part of DARPA’s Ground X-Vehicle Technologies program (GXV-T), a team from Carnegie Mellon University National Robotics Engineering Center created a hybrid wheel-track which can configure between a traditional round wheel and a triangular, tank-like track in seconds. The intent behind this design is to allow optimal mobility between hard and soft terrain as required, while still inside the same vehicle.

The Ground X-Vehicle Technologies program itself was launched to find ways to “improve mobility, survivability, safety, and effectiveness of future combat vehicles without piling on armor.”

Pyramyd Air Partners with Digital Wave Corporation to Offer Life Extended SCBA Air Cylinders For PCP Airgunners

Sunday, June 24th, 2018

Exclusively available on Pyramyd Air, LE Tanks will provide up to 14 years usable life; $200 savings over new carbon fiber fill sources

Cleveland, Ohio (June 11, 2018) Pyramyd Air, the world’s largest internet airgun retailer in conjunction with Digital Wave Corporation, a leading authority of modal acoustic testing, is pleased to announce the release of Life Extended SCBA tanks for use with precharged pneumatic airguns. Using groundbreaking technology, each expired tank is rigorously tested and restored to Department of Transportation (DOT) standards, extending each tank’s usable life, providing years of dependable service, and presenting a low-cost gateway for PCP airgunning.

“This is very exciting news for PCP airgun owners and those who are thinking about getting into precharged pneumatics.” says Val Gamerman, President of Pyramyd Air. “In the last few years, PCPs have come down in price, but the cost of fill sources has remained high. This exclusive partnership means that airgunners can now purchase higher capacity carbon fiber tanks for less than the cost of smaller systems and save up to $200 on some models.”

Using end-of-life tanks collected from fire departments across the country, Digital Wave subjects each tank to a series of demanding tests that include a visual inspection, ultrasonic cleaning, and Modal Acoustic Emission (MAE) tests to reveal any compromise in the cylinder. Once passed, end-of-life cylinders are given a new expiration date and a new life in the hands of PCP airgunners.

Mark E. Anderson of Digital Wave Corporation said of the collaboration, “Being an avid air gun enthusiast myself, I knew that buying a brand-new carbon fiber cylinder was an expensive purchase. Digital Wave is excited to work with Pyramyd Air to give airgunners a new cost-effective carbon fiber pressure vessel alternative via the Air Venturi LE cylinders”.

Life Extended Air Venturi cylinders are currently available on Pyramyd Air in 30 minute (45 cu ft), 45 minute (66 cu ft) and 60 minute (88 cu ft) options that include new DIN 300 valves and fill hoses with female quick disconnect couplings. Assorted sized tanks, with up to 14 years life remaining are available for purchase immediately on PyramydAir.com. Additional resources are available on PyramydAir.com for those looking to learn more about MAE testing and Life Extended tanks.

The Official Dick Tracy Watch On Indiegogo

Saturday, June 23rd, 2018

Ivory & Horn, a company formed by two brothers, has started an Indiegogo campaign for an officially licensed Dick Tracy Ivory & Horn did produce a Dick Tracy watch back in 2016, however its function was purely as a watch. This 2018 model is not only a watch, but also features a Bluetooth-enabled speakerphone, meaning it functions much like the actual watch from the Dick Tracy comic strip. You can check out the entirety of the details and features via the below image:

Regarding the availability: they’re planning on making only 1000 units available upon successful funding. Given it’s a pretty niche product, that makes sense, but if you want to get one for yourself, you’d best fund now rather than later.

Charles “Keith” David, managing director, Task Force Dagger Foundation said: “We respond to immediate needs that are short fuse and critical in nature. When we receive a request for assistance, we respond within two hours or less to get the needed support into the hands of the service member and his or her family. • SOF Health Initiatives – TFDF assists Special Operations Forces (SOF) personnel and their families with care and treatment focusing on how to heal the person versus treatment where providing prescription medication is the answer. TFDF works with various organizations on ways to treat Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) and Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) and to reduce the number of veteran suicides.
  • Rehabilitative Therapy Events – TFDF sponsors activities that foster a sense of well-being, offer encouragement, and assist the service member’s rehabilitation and recovery from wounds and injuries sustained while serving our country.
