ShellTech, a new subsidiary of Shell Shock Technologies, will open high-volume ammunition casings plant, creating 50 new jobs, in Eubank, Kentucky, manufacturing Shell Shock’s NAS3 cases.
Westport, Conn. (June 2017) – Shell Shock Technologies, LLC., an early stage technology and manufacturing company focused on developing innovative case technologies for the ammunition industry, is pleased to announce the launch of its newly formed high-volume manufacturing subsidiary, ShellTech. The new manufacturing plant will open in Pulaski County in Eubank, Kentucky, focusing on the manufacture of Shell Shock Technologies’ NAS3 cases. With an investment of approximately $3.2 million, ShellTech aims to create 50 new full-time jobs within Pulaski County.
ShellTech will assemble NAS3 cases under a long-term contract from its parent company. The 14,000-square foot facility was previously used for the contract-manufacturing and loading of all SIG SAUER ammunition. ShellTech will begin by assembling Shell Shock Technologies’ popular 9mm cases, but will soon add 5.56 mm, .308, .45 ACP, 380 and .40 S&W cases, along with an assortment of other popular pistol and rifle calibers.
“We are proud to announce the creation of our subsidiary ShellTech; this new high-volume manufacturing operation will significantly accelerate the rollout of Shell Shock’s NAS3 case technology. We are especially happy to be opening this plant in Pulaski County and can’t thank the county, the Commonwealth of Kentucky or the various regional and local development agencies enough for helping to make this plant a reality,” commented Craig Knight, president and CEO of Shell Shock Technologies and ShellTech.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) has preliminarily approved ShellTech for tax incentives of up to $800,000 through the Kentucky Business Investment program, which is intended to spur investment and job growth within the community. In addition, ShellTech can receive resources, such as no-cost recruitment and job placement services, reduced-cost customized training and job training incentives, through the Kentucky Skills Network.
About Shell Shock’s NAS3 Cases:
Shell Shock’s NAS3 9mm cases are 50 percent lighter than brass cases, offer greater lubricity and will not abrade, clog, foul, wear-out or damage breach and ejector mechanisms. The cases offer greater corrosion resistance, tensile strength (2x stronger) and elasticity than brass. NAS3 cases will not split, chip, crack or grow (stretch) and are fully reloadable (using S3 Reload dies) and can be reloaded many more times than brass cases. NAS3 cases have been tested successfully by customers to pressures over 70k psi. NAS3 cases can be picked up with a magnet. The head can be colored for branding purposes and easy load identification.
NAS3 is “Best in Class” for maintaining consistent velocity between rounds. In an independent test performed by H.P. White Laboratory (a major munitions testing facility), rounds fired using NAS3 cases achieved a velocity standard deviation of 0.093 FPS (124-grain FMJ bullet, 4.2 grains Titegroup powder, 10 rounds, extreme variation 3fps).
