Friday, May 24th, 2019Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger reprise their roles as Sarah Connor and the T-800, respectively, in a movie directed by Tim Miller of Deadpool fame, with a teaser synopsis which deliberately states the film takes place after Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Seems to be equal parts nostalgic pandering, and an overt attempt to try to discredit any other sequels or spin-offs of the Terminator franchise. All the same, it’s got guns, explosions, and a liquid-metal Terminator, so all the pieces are there. Hopefully it’s decent.
Kinda cool to see a Fostech Origin, though. I had to repeat that part a few times to confirm, but the skeletonized drum mag is a dead giveaway.
Terminator: Dark Fate is slated for a theatrical release November 1st, 2019.

NERF Zombie Strike Nailbiter

With the post-apocalyptic-DIY aesthetic of NERF’s Zombie Strike series, I suppose it was only a matter of time until a blaster modeled after a nailgun would be introduced to the line. However, the Nailbiter, as it’s called, actually happens to be one of the cooler blaster designs to come out lately. Requiring “no priming” / chambering of a dart, the Nailbiter feeds from an 8-dart “vertical indexing clip” which feeds upwards as it fires (see below video). The blaster is compatible with NERF stock and barrel extensions that work with other N-STRIKE and Zombie Strike blasters, and an accessory rail on the bottom of the blaster allows for the attachment of additional accessories.

Drinking Horns are one of those cool ‘ancient warrior’ ways to quaff your favorite brew (or any beverage, really; no judgements here), second only to drinking from the repurposed skulls of your enemies. However, they’re not the most practical drinking vessel, due to their shape. And, sure, purpose-made stands do exist for horns, but what if there were a more practical way to carry a horn with you, everywhere you go?
Well, Goat Story has their own take on the portable Drinking Horn in the Goat Mug. It’s a coffee mug horn that comes with a drink sleeve/holder made of leather or faux leather. Apocalypse Now – Final Cut Trailer
Wednesday, May 8th, 2019In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Francis Ford Coppola Vietnam War Epic Apocalypse Now, there will be a limited release of a ‘Final Cut’ of the film, in select theaters on August 15th. This Final Cut is restored from the original film negatives to 4K quality, with 5.1 Dolby surround sound, and the film has been reedited by Coppola with a runtime that is 20 minutes shorter than the Redux version. If you’re more of a home viewer type, a 4K Ultra HD release will also be made available on August 27th.

Orc Wars – Official Trailer

The CGI is noticeably Sci-Fi Channel (I’m not calling it SyFy) bad, but the costumes for the orcs are actually pretty great, and it looks like an overall fun film.

Kenneth Chan – Asian Tactical Conical Helmet

This is a concept for a Asian Tactical Conical Helmet by Creator/Artist/Painter/Illustrator/Designer Kenneth Chang. Combining aspects of a modern ballistic helmet and an Asian Conical Hat, the Asian Tactical Conical Helmet would be constructed of NIJ Level IIIA PE with a 4-point chin strap and NIJ Level II rated bulletproof headband, with obligatory helmet pads and accessory mounts. Various ballistic panels would be mountable on the exterior, including some hanging panels of NIJ Level III material to protect the neck and upper back. Rounding out the design is an NVG mount. It would come in at 30cm / 1 ft in diameter, and about 2.5kg / 5.5 lbs fully loaded.
It’s a really cool concept, and practicality aside, I’m sure plenty of people would love to get their mitts on an actual release.

AKBlasterMOD – ESPER 3D Printed Dart Blaster

The NERF aftermarket is pretty extensive, and it’s gotten to the point where there’s even build kits for custom blasters available for purchase. One such example is this ESPER 3D printed blaster available from AKBlasterMOD. Based on a design by NERF custom part designer Captain Slug, the ESPER is a pump-action blaster that feeds from custom magazines, and fires half-darts. As previously mentioned, this is a build kit, so assembly and finish work to remove burrs is required.

Tim Mee Toys – 22 Inch Dominator Tank – Olive Drab

This is the Dominator M60A2 Battle Tank from US-based toy manufacturer Tim Mee Toys. Coming in sized at 18.75″ (22″ w/ barrel) x 8.25″ x 9.25″, the Dominator is deliberately sized for 3.75″ figures – like those from the 80s G.I. Joe line.
This is appropriate because the Dominator is actually a reproduction of a similarly named line of generic tanks manufactured by PROCESSED PLASTIC COMPANY (Tim Mee’s parent company) in the early 90s to work with the aforementioned Joe figures, and other similarly-sized action figures.
Made of Olive Green HDPE plastic, the Dominator features a fully-rotating turret, a commander’s cupola that rotates 90 degrees, a storage trunk, an elevating gun barrel, retractable hatches, and functioning wheels. This tank comes complete with a sticker sheet of reproduction patriotic stickers and shooting star graphics.

YRS Inc. is currently selling IGB Austria 16″ barrels for Glock 9×19 and .357 SIG models. The barrels are made of non-specified “European high grade barrel steel”, with a plasma nitride finish, and a 1:10 twist rate with button rifling. In all seriousness, using one of these barrels offers a quick, drop-in method to convert a Glock into a pistol caliber carbine, when combined with a conversion kit, such as a RONI. However, these barrels are designed to function as is when installed, so if having a Glock capable of shooting down the Batwing is your goal, have at it!

Shot Tower: How Lead Shot Is Made

Palmetto State Armory – “Approval-15” Stripped AR Lower Receiver

PSA has released many ‘meme’ lowers, and has more in the pipeline, but the “Approval-15” is arguably the greatest so far. It features the (in)famous ATF Guy (Peter Parker from the 1967 Spider-Man cartoon with an ATF ballcap photoshopped onto his head) prominently on the magwell and the selector switch markings ‘no & no’ (safe), ‘maybe, but no’ (semi), and ‘yes, but really no’ (full-auto). Like all PSA lowers, the “Approval-15” is built to MilSpec standard, made of forged 7075-T6 aluminum with a MIL-A-8625, Type III, Class 2 black anodized finish.
It’s also reportedly only being offered once, so if you want to get one for yourself, now’s the time.
