Nelson Precision Manufacturing – AR.5 Bottle Opener

August 24th, 2018

The AR.5 is a bottle opener designed to look like a miniature AR-15 lower receiver, manufactured by Arizona-based Nelson Precision Manufacturing. Machined from 6061 aluminum and Type III hard coated black anodized, the AR.5 Bottle Opener is detailed very much like an actual lower receiver, with the trigger guard pin extensions functioning as the bottle opening tool. Plus, if the product images are anything to go by, each bottle opener is individually serialized, which is pretty neat.

We Like Shooting – Meal Team 6 King Patch Set

August 21st, 2018

Have you ever imagined various fast food mascots as elite operators in a special forces unit called Meal Team Six?

Yeah, me neither.

However, We Like Shooting has, and they’re releasing a limited weekly patch run of that very concept. This first set stars Burger King’s ‘The King’ as the flamethrower and molotov-wielding operative known by the codename King. This particular set consists of two patches and two stickers, the first design a depiction of the Operator ‘King’, and the second a design more reminiscent of The King’s normal appearance, molotov and spatula in hand.

Honestly, operator King looks to me like an amalgam of two of Kurt Russell’s greatest rolls: MacReady from The Thing (because of the flame thrower and hair), and Snake Pliskin from Escape from New York (because of the eyepatch and hair).

Anyway, you can pick up the set at the links below:

Above is a screentest of the original Boba Fett white costume, as he was depicted in the original Ralph McQuarrie concept art. This was footage that was revealed to George Lucas and company in 1978.

CMC Triggers Launches its 9mm Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC) Single Stage Trigger

August 17th, 2018

Fort Worth, Texas: Due to the rise in popularity of Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC) rifles and after careful research and development, CMC Triggers has launched their own PCC Trigger. The CMC AR-15 / AR-10 9mm PCC Single Stage Drop-in Trigger, available in both Classic Curved Bow and CMC’s patented Signature Flat Bow, was designed with the highest caliber that one comes to expect from CMC Triggers.

9E666A6A-EA65-4F32-9818-3ADE93332F0C

The same CMC Trigger that has become respected for use in AR-15 and AR-10 style rifles can now be easily installed in PCC rifles. Previously, PCC rifles with a standard trigger installed had approximately a 50% trigger reset failure rate. CMC’s new PCC Trigger geometry design has overcome those earlier issues. The PCC Trigger’s hammer dimensions have been modified to facilitate the 9mm platform and ensure reliability with each pull of the trigger.

The CMC Curved Trigger bow has an exceptionally smooth feel and ultra-clean break while the CMC Flat Trigger Bow renders a linear feel unsurpassed by any other trigger bow shape.

-CMC AR-15 / AR-10 9mm PCC Single Stage Drop-in Trigger Features:
-Single Stage Match Trigger
-Ultra-crisp 3.5lb trigger pull with no creep prior to hammer release
-Glass-smooth break with no feel of grittiness
-Minimal lock time is designed into the assembly using controlled hammer weight and
balance activated by a rocket wire hammer spring, assuring repeatable function with
either commercial or military grade ammunition
-Positive trigger reset allows a quick follow up shot on target
-Trigger pull is factory pre-set and not user adjustable
-Hand assembled, and hand tested
-Totally self-contained one-piece assembly
-Includes CMC Anti-Walk Pin Set
-Fits MIL-SPEC AR-15 and AR-10 style rifles
-Made from 8620 Alloy Steel and S7 Tool Steel with machined tolerances of +/– .001″
-Trigger is easy to install following the instructions:
www.cmctriggers.com/installation-instructions

While PCC shooting has been around for a while, it has recently become popular for competition shooting. USPSA now allows the PCC to be used in matches. Carbines are easier to shoot fast, and easier to shoot accurately compared to handguns. Many 3-Gun shooters have also found that shooting USPSA with a PCC is a good way to get rifle practice for 3-Gun.

CMC Triggers is the original maker and manufacturer of the Drop-in Trigger Group for the AR-15/10 rifle since 2003. CMC’s critical sear engagement surfaces have a propriety machining process that renders superior surface finish and dimensional control. As compared to their competition, the techniques used establish a 1-2 RMS surface finish as opposed to EDMing which leaves a pitty 32 RMS, compared to a mirror which is 0 RMS. CMC Triggers sear engagement overlap is six to eight times greater than their competitors. This provides a much safer trigger and enhances reliability.

All CMC products come with a Lifetime Warranty and are made in the U.S.A., CMC proudly designs all its products for Law Enforcement, Military and Civilian use.

Radical Firearms to Supply Brazil’s Police and Security Forces

Radical Firearms supplies RF-15 rifles to law enforcement in Brazil – PPCE – Polícia Civil do Estado do Ceará (1)

Radical Firearms is proud to share its recent partnership with local law enforcement in Brazil. Just a few days ago Radical Firearms completed delivery of 150 RF-15 rifles to the PPCE (Polícia Civil do Estado do Ceará, or Ceará State Civil Police).

Ceará is but one of 13 Brazilian states who have chosen Radical Firearms for their security forces.

The selection of the RF-15 was completed after an extensive evaluation process. Included in that was a visit to the Radical Firearms facility by a team from C.O.R.E. (Coordenadoria de Recursos Especiais, the civil police tactical unit of Rio de Janeiro) and members of the Brazilian government. This particular model of RF-15 were built with a specialty maritime coating to deal with humidity and other unique conditions of the PPCE’s operational area.

These RF-15s were part of a larger order of imported weapons for Brazilian agency, which also included a large number of .40 S&W SIG SAUER P320s and five Armalite AR-10 SuperSASS rifles. Although this initial import was to equip PPCE agents only, additional weapons will be imported by the end of the year for other agencies, including the PPCE’s military counterpart, the PMCE (Policia Militar do Ceara Policia Militar do Brasil). Unlike PPCE agents, PMCE personnel do not conduct traditional criminal investigations, but rather work special emphasis operations to deter violent crime. Other Brazilian agencies, including PCES PMES (Polícia Militar and Polícia Civil do Estado do Espírito Santo) are also in the process of upgrading their weapons and equipment.

Historically, Brazilian agencies have been required to source firearms from such local manufacturers as IMBEL and Taurus, but that is slowly changing. In fact, as TFB’s Ronaldo Olive reports, Brazil’s Departamento de Polícia Federal (Federal Police Department) and the Polícia Rodoviaria Federal (Federal Highway Police) have both been equipped with foreign-built weapons.

The RF-15 is a 5.56mm rifle with 1 in 7″ Twist 16 in. 4140V Chromoly Melonite Coated barrel. It features M4 feed ramps, 1/2×28 thread pitch, a low profile micro gas block system, and fore end quad Pic Rails. Options for bolt carrier group, charging handle, and rail furniture are available.

Ceará is one of 27 states in Brazil, and is the 8th largest, with a population of some nine million people (about the same as Virginia). It covers a geographic area somewhere between that of Minnesota and Michigan. It’s capital, Fortaleza, is the fourth most populous city in Brazil, is a major ocean port and a significant tourist destination. The crime rate there is very high, and like many urban areas suffers from the violent activities of organized gangs (such as the Comando Vermelho and Guardiões do Estado). It has recently significantly increased its available manpower.

NERF Rival – Overwatch Reaper Wight Edition Blaster

August 12th, 2018

There have been some licensed NERF blasters in the past, although the only instance that immediately comes to mind is Star Wars-themed blasters. So, it’s not completely surprising that Overwatch, a game with a lot of unique firearms, is now getting a NERF blaster in the Reaper Wight Edition Blaster. As the name implies, this blaster is stylized after Reaper’s Hellfire shotguns, and as it’s part of the Rival series, it’ll shoot the spherical Rival projectiles, of which it can hold 8, instead of the traditional darts.

A D.Va blaster will also be released, modeled after the character’s sidearm.

Both of these blasters don’t have a definitive release date, but look for them to reach store shelves sometime in 2019.

Door Kickers: Action Squad

August 11th, 2018

Featuring the tag line Realistic Ridiculous Police Tactics, Door Kickers: Action Squad is a co-op focused sidescrolling shooter that’s a bit slower-paced and deliberate than your traditional run-n-gun affair, but still faster-paced and less serious that the original Door Kickers, which is a real-time strategy game where you direct a SWAT team through hostage rescue missions.

Action Squad features four playable characters, non-linear levels, and over 20 weapons and gear items. As previously mentioned, the game is co-op focused, and is seemingly balanced around two players, either via local or network multiplayer. Single player is an option, but the trailer overtly mocks the mode, so make of that as you will.

The game is in Early Access, which means that although it’s up for sale, it’s also still in development, so features and gameplay is bound to change as time goes on. You can purchase Door Kickers: Action Squad at the link below:

DOOM: Eternal – Official Gameplay Reveal

August 10th, 2018

DOOM: Eternal, the sequel to the excellent DOOM 2016, was initially teased at this year’s E3, but today at Quakecon, id revealed actual gameplay. In essence, the gameplay shown so far looks like all the best aspects of the first DOOM, with some improved focus on player maneuverability and level verticality, and of course new weapons and enemies. The actual gameplay starts at 4:37, if you want to skip ahead.

The Doom Slayer himself also got a bit of an update, rocking a Predator-esque shoulder cannon, which fires sub-weapons like grenades and a flamethrower, and an arm blade for quick melee strikes; this blade also sees overt use in the returning ‘Glory Kill’ system.

It’s still too early to see whether Eternal will hold up to the first game in the reboot series, but the footage is very promising, and the devs seem to know what kind of game they should be going for: rip and tear, first and foremost.

DOOM: Eternal is slated for an undisclosed 2019 release.

CMMG Unveils New Brand Logo

August 7th, 2018

Boonville, MO (8-7-18) – Over the course of its history, CMMG has established a reputation for its quality and innovative AR rifles, pistols and small parts. With the launch of the DefCan suppressor line-up earlier this year, CMMG expanded its presence beyond the AR category. As part of a larger rebranding initiative, CMMG is pleased to unveil its new brand logo, to which the company will transition going into 2019.

“Our entire team at CMMG is excited to roll out the new brand logo. It’s indicative of how much CMMG has grown since the beginning. Over that time, we’ve worked tirelessly to expand and enhance our product line-up, along with further strengthening our in-house manufacturing and engineering capabilities. This new brand logo is a reflection of that growth and the bright future ahead,” said Chris Reinkemeyer, CEO of CMMG.

CMMG was established in 2002 by the Overstreet family and currently maintains its factory and headquarters in Boonville, Missouri. Early on, the company focused on building high-quality AR15 rifles and parts in a growing and changing AR market. As the business grew, CMMG expanded its focus to include a greater emphasis on innovation and engineering.

In 2010, CMMG patented and released its first .22LR AR Conversion Kit for the AR15. The kits have continued to evolve over the years and remain a top seller to this day.

In 2014, CMMG launched its Mk47 rifle, which was a new mid-sized AR rifle chambered in the iconic 7.62x39mm round and fed from standard AK magazines. At the heart of the Mk47 was CMMG’s POWERBOLT, which features a larger, more durable AR10-sized bolt face to accommodate the wider 7.62x39mm case. The design won multiple awards for rifle of the year and quickly became CMMG’s flagship rifle.

Following the success of the Mk47, CMMG brought the benefits of the POWERBOLT to other calibers by adding a standard AR15 magwell to the Mid-size platform and releasing the MkW-15 chambered in .458 SOCOM in 2016, and 6.5 Grendel in 2017.

In 2017, CMMG released the MkG platform chambered in .45 ACP. At the heart of the platform was CMMG’s patented Radial Delayed Blowback operating system, which uses a bolt that is forced to rotate and unlock, slowing the bolt carrier group enough to safely cycle. The benefits of Radial Delayed Blowback are most evident in the reduction of weight in the carrier and buffer. Not only does this system mean you have a lighter rifle, the felt recoil is noticeably less than on a straight blowback system. CMMG has already added additional offerings utilizing the Radial Delayed Blowback system, including the MkGs in 9mm and Mk57 in 5.7x28mm, and more offerings may be on the horizon.

With a strong commitment to bringing true innovation to the industry, keep an eye on CMMG for exciting new releases in the coming years.

In addition to the match, attendees were able to sample the fantastic cuisine at the NRA Headquarters Cafeteria, receive guided tours of the National Firearms Museum and even shop at the NRA Gift Shop with a special SASP discount. At the individual level, Adam Jardines of Team LoCo Motion took first place with Dalton Bridges and Gavin Rainey of Gaston Young Guns taking 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Senior Division. Ethan Jardines of Team LoCo Motion took 1st place in the Intermediate Division followed by Alex Kolosowsky of Gaston Young Guns in 2nd and Maccoy Gilkison of WIWL Blue Ridge Bullets taking 3rd.

Due to time constraints, mini matches were held for both rifle optics and iron sights. The teams would like to thank Kelvin Walton the SASP Director of Development for his assistance with the match.
