Trench Club from Battlefield 1 – MAN AT ARMS feat. Danny Trejo

November 19th, 2016

Seems a bit ornate it for a trench club, on the other hand it’s really cool.

The American Dream Trailer

November 18th, 2016

Looking for a title to justify the outrageous amount of money you spent on your VR headset? Then you might want to take a look at ‘The American Dream’ by Australian indie game developer Samurai Punk.

…Ok, it’s not a killer app for VR platforms, just an absurdist game where you perform everyday tasks, except you’re only able to interact with the game world by shooting at it with your guns. But, hey, dual GI-spec 1911s, right?

The American Dream drops sometime in 2017.

SIG SAUER Introduces the 1911 Max Michel BB Pistol

November 16th, 2016

1911_max_bb_gun_left

Newington, NH (November 16, 2016) – SIG SAUER, Inc. is pleased to introduce the 1911 Max Michel BB Pistol. Modeled after the 1911 Max centerfire pistol designed by World Speed Shooting Champion and Team SIG Captain, Max Michel, Jr., this CO2-powered, semi-automatic 1911-style BB pistol is a fun and useful training tool for shooters of all skill levels – from beginners to experts.

“When it comes to shooting, consistent training is invaluable, whether you are a member of law enforcement, the military or are a responsible citizen carrying to protect your family,” said Max Michel, Jr., captain of Team SIG. “Despite this, many people don’t have the time, opportunity or finances to train as much as they should. The 1911 Max Michel BB Pistol gives you the flexibility to train anywhere, anytime with measurable results. Dry fire training is always recommended, but can be boring and sometimes misleading. This is a great way for those who typically shoot a 1911-style pistol to work on accuracy, speed and drawing from concealment.”

The 1911 Max Michel BB Pistol fits in current 1911 holster systems and has the same weight and controls of a traditional 1911 firearm. It features a full-metal slide and frame with realistic blowback action of the metal slide. The 16-round magazine holds 4.5mm steel BBs and the trigger has the same styling and shape as the 1911 Max firearm. There is also a cam lever CO2 loading port for easy and quick loading of the 12gr CO2 cartridges. The .177 caliber 1911 Max Michel BB Pistol shoots up to 410 fps; however, velocity results may vary depending on temperature and altitude.

The 1911 Max Michel BB Pistol also gives newer shooters the ability to learn firearm safety and basic fundamentals in a controlled, comfortable, quiet, and safe environment. It removes the intimidation factor of the loud bang and recoil, leaving the newer shooter more confident and with a much better understanding of traditional firearms and their safe use.

“I’m a 10-year Army veteran and have been a pro shooter for nearly 20 years, and I enjoy shooting this BB pistol because it’s just incredibly fun,” said Michel. “Regardless of your shooting ability, practice with this BB pistol is a really enjoyable and affordable way to improve your skills. I love shooting with my kids and this provides a platform for me to teach them safely while building their confidence. In the next few years as they continue to progress into more traditional firearms, they will be much better prepared because of the training they are receiving with the 1911 Max Michel BB pistol.”

MSRP: $110.99

Batou’s Shotgun Is A Six12

November 14th, 2016

img_4138

This pic was sent over to me by SSD’s Admin, so I don’t know the origin. What I can say is, based on it being a pic of “Batou’s Shotgun”, it’s obviously a prop from the upcoming (and quite honestly craptastic-looking) Ghost in the Shell movie. It also happens to be a duded up Crye Precision Six12 rotary drum bullpup 12 gauge shotgun, which to be fair is a pretty futuristic-looking piece.

Edit: Google image search came up with this page: beagle-voyage.com/movie-ghost-in-the-shell-movie-props-2016.

There’s a few other prop weapons from the movie as well.

Pimp My Gun

November 13th, 2016

pimp-my-gun

An oldie but a goodie, the Pimp My Gun app lets you create a custom firearm from an assortment of modern rifles and sub machine guns. You can go mundane, like my HK 416-esque creation above, or you can make something wild and wholly impractical. The choice is yours.

Inside The M4 Carbine

November 12th, 2016

A more accurate title would arguably be “Inside The AR-15”, but the base gun’s the same, so it’s a minor nitpick. Plus, that cutout interspersed throughout the footage is really neat.

An update from The Firearm Blog revealed the pricing for the highly-anticipated HERA Arms CQR AR furniture set:

California stock – $124.00

Functional AR furniture can be had for less, to be sure, but these pieces are:

1) Imported from Germany

and

2) Pretty unique (and stylish)

Plus, $158 (normal stock + grip) isn’t really as bad a price as it could have been for the whole set.

LAN World still hasn’t made an announcement regarding availability, so stay tuned for further info.

Star Wars Rogue One Rapid Fire Imperial AT-ACT Vehicle

November 9th, 2016

hsb7076lg

The name for this thing sure is a mouthful, huh?

Anyway, the Star Wars Rogue One Rapid Fire Imperial AT-ACT Vehicle is a (very clearly) Kenner-inspired toy set; it really looks like it was manufactured in the 70s. The All Terrain Armored Cargo Transport comes complete with firing projectiles, a removable cargo bay playset, and three 3 3/4″ figures: C2-B5, Jyn Erso, and an Imperial AT-ACT driver. If that isn’t enough, it’s also controllable with your smartphone. Neat.

Lone Wolf – How A Glock Firing Cycle Works

November 7th, 2016

If you’ve ever wondered how a Glock works during its firing cycle, then Lone Wolf, one of the leading purveyors of after-market Glock parts, has you covered. The above video is a 3D model representation of the Glock’s firing cycle, and it’s pretty comprehensive.

Tier1 Accessories – TitanFall 2 Precision Armory Blind Pick Series 1

November 6th, 2016

img_4118

I was at a certain video game-centric retailer picking up a copy of Infinite Warfare today, and while I was checking out I noticed the above blind pick collectable boxes for sale. This one, which comes from a company called Tier1 Accessories, consists of a line of Zinc Alloy miniatures of some of the weapons from TitanFall 2; to be exact, 5 pilot weapons, or a titan weapon, which in this case would be the Ronin titan’s sword.

img_4119

I got the above sniper rifle, which is cool. I really, really wanted that sword, but they aren’t called “blind pick” for nothing.

If you can’t find these in your area, they’re also available for purchase from the link below.

McFarlane Toys – Lucile Prop Replica

November 4th, 2016

mf14517lg

McFarlane Toys is releasing a replica of Negan’s barbed wire-upped bat Lucille from the Walking Dead television series. It’s made of soft plastic, and although it’s intended for ages 17+, it’s not so great for bludgeoning the undead, or pesky human survivors.

You can probably DIY your own version for less money, but on the other hand it wouldn’t be officially licensed.

Wonder Woman – Trailer 2

November 3rd, 2016

DC’s Cinematic Universe, or whatever they’re calling it instead to differentiate themselves from Marvel, has been kinda… not great. So, the question is if Wonder Woman will be the first truly good DC movie, or another critical flop.

I’ve stopped trusting trailers a while ago; they’ve got the technical devilry that made Suicide Squad look appealing, after all.

Wonder Woman drops June 2, 2017.

Lifeclock One – Escape From New York Inspired Smartwatch On Kickstarter

November 1st, 2016

It’s no secret that Escape from New York is one of my absolute favorite movies of all time. So much so that I’m still constantly on the lookout for related memorabilia, collectables, art, and the like. That’s why the Ridgewood Watch Company’s Lifeclock One has caught my interest, as it is an officially licensed reproduction of Snake Plissken’s countdown watch from the aforementioned movie, modernized into a multi-function smartwatch.

lifeclock

The Lifeclock One consists of a main enclosure CNC machined from a solid piece of brass with a stainless steel backplate. The LEDs utilized within the Lifeclock are 11 segment custom displays made specifically for the watch. The strap is made of leather, and is being offered with either Velcro (like in the movie), or a more traditional buckle attachment. The Lifeclock will also be Bluetooth enabled, and capable of of integrating with a smartphone, as well as function as a standard watch, stopwatch, compass, and more.

Perhaps the only real grey spot about the Lifeclock One is this: it can be considered pretty darn pricey. The “Early Backer Edition”, already priced at $249, is sold out at the time of writing, with the next least-expensive tier starting at $399, and the final tier as high as $799.

On the other hand, the Lifeclock One does feature high-quality components, and although it doesn’t fully meet the FTC’s guidelines to be considered a fully ‘Made in USA’ product, the main enclosure and core printed circuit board are US-manufactured, and the completed watches will be assembled, tested, and distributed from the state of Georgia.

So, if the price point isn’t too daunting, and you like what the Lifeclock One has to offer, then feel free to support Ridgewood Watch Company’s efforts on their Kickstarter campaign.

DUSK Reveal Trailer

October 30th, 2016

DUSK is a love letter to 90s First Person Shooters like DOOM, BLOOD, Hexen, and Quake, mixing in a heavy, metal-inspired soundtrack with ultra violence, tons of murderous enemies, a healthy mix of deadly weaponry, and retro, 90s-inspired graphics.

It comes out next year.

NERF N-Strike – Mastodon Mega Blaster

October 29th, 2016

For when your current dakka is just not enough (and you can never have too much dakka), it never hurts to introduce a bigger gun with a large capacity. Such much the philosophy behind the development of NERF’s new N-Strike Mastodon Mega Blaster, because this thing is big, and it holds a health amount of mega-sized darts. The first ever motorized mega blaster developed by NERF, the Mastodon shoots MEGA Whistler darts out of a 24-round drum, distances of up to 100 ft.

HERA Arms CQR AR Stock And Forward Grip

October 28th, 2016

Coming to a Deux Ex sequel near you

This unique stock and foregrip combination has been making the rounds across the internet, and to be honest it’s a bit mall ninja-ish, but at the same time it also manages to be really damn cool. Like, I need to make a ‘for fun’ build out of these parts cool. Ghost In The Shell, Shadowrun, cyberpunk cool, if I may be so bold.

The two components are called the CQR Stock and CQR Front Grip, and are the creation of Germany-based HERA Arms, a company which specializes in manufacturing weapons and weapons accessories. Utah-based LAN World is the current importer of HERA Arms components into the USA, and supposedly they’ll be offering the CQR parts in the coming months. I, assuredly like many others, eagerly await their availability.

commiefornia

They’re also making a Commiefornia compliant version, so if you have to neuter your rifle, at least it can be done in relative style.

Adam Savage’s ZF-1 Prop Is Complete

October 27th, 2016

The Fifth Element is one of my favorite movies of all time, because it’s a love letter to the kind of SciFi stories you’d see in an issue of Metal Hurlant / Heavy Metal magazine, and because it has a great cast, including Gary Oldman’s Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg, and his wonderful multi-purpose armament, the ZF-1 Pod Weapons System.

A weapon so iconic, in fact, that noted prop artist/mythbuster/all around cool guy Adam Savage took a crack at making his own replica, a project years in the making, and I have to say the finished product looks pretty darn great. The original ZF-1 was built around a blank-firing AKS-74U; long story short Adam’s isn’t, but it’s still really cool.
