CENTERVILLE, IA – September 29, 2016 – RMA Armament is proud to announce the latest edition to its armor family, the ALPHA Armor Series Level IV (model #1199) hard armor plate. Weighing just 4.4 pounds, it is the now the world’s LIGHTEST plate in its class.
RMA’s latest product offering further displays it’s strength as the world’s best research and development team in the hard armor market. Having already developed the strongest armor plate in world, the R&D team at RMA now adds the lightest level IV hard armor solution to its resume in support of police and military personnel around the globe.
“To say that I’m excited about our latest level IV plate would be quite the understatement,” said RMA CEO Blake Waldrop. “Our primary goal with every new product is to provide the highest quality protection while balancing cost, weight, thickness, speed, and strength.
“Some members of our law enforcement and military communities require the strongest level IV plate in the world while others need the world’s lightest level IV plate, which gives them better mobility while still providing the highest level of protection. Now, you can get both from RMA. Our plates provide peace of mind to the officer or operator allowing them to do their job effectively and stay protected during any type of mission.”
In testing at the NIJ certified Oregon Ballistic Laboratory, RMA’s Alpha Armor Series Level IV (model #1199) defeated a single round of .30-06 armor piercing ammunition from 50 feet, registering a back-face signature of just 35.58 mm. For compliance to the NIJ 0101.06 level IV standard, a hard armor plate must defeat single .30-06 M2AP round with a BFD of less than 44 mm.
Bethesda released the entire DOOM soundtrack in a glorious ~2 hour long continuous YouTube video, complete with a new track and remixed track. They’re pretty heavy compositions, a blend of metal and electronic with some djent influence. If that’s your cup of tea, then enjoy.
The GRIPsher is a compact multitool “dreamt up by an Army Veteran, refined by an MIT engineer, and brought to life with common sense”. The creators of GRIPsher have designed the tool with a variety of functions, including, but not limited to:
Pliers
Wire Cutters
Phillips head and flat head drivers
Material thickness gauge
Adjustable hex bolt wrench
Heavy duty knife
Perhaps the most interesting feature of the GRIPsher is the glow-in-the-dark jaws on the bottom of the tool. Dubbed the HEXGRIP system, the jaws serve as a fully adjustable way to secure hex nuts, bolts, and bits.
Additionally, the GRIPsher team is hosting a special program called Tools For Troops. For every GRIPsher black model supported, a version of the GRIPsher with black HEXGRIP jaws will be donated to a military service member; this is the only way to get a GRIPsher with black jaws.
CLEVELAND, OHIO (September 27, 2016) – The third annual Pyramyd Air Cup, hosted by the world’s largest internet airgun retailer Pyramyd Air, boasts the best attended AAFTA Grand Prix event for field target shooting in the U.S. during 2016. Hosted in conjunction with local AAFTA club, the Ohio Airgun & Field Target Shooters Association (OAFTSA), nearly 100 shooters descended upon the Tusco Rifle Club in New Philadelphia, OH September 9-11 for the most challenging and exciting airgun match of the year. The third annual competitive shooting event attracted amateur and professional shooters from all over the country and delivered winners in multiple airgun shooting disciplines including Field Target shooting, the fast-paced GunSlynger event, and the PayDay Challenge.
“We introduced a record number of people to the sport of airgunning at this year’s Cup,” says Pyramyd Air CEO, Joshua Ungier. “And while the competitive spirit was remarkable amongst shooters, it was the almost tangible level of anticipation for each exciting course of fire that really sets the Pyramyd Air Cup competition apart from others,” he said.
According to Hunter Piston class competitor Peg Brewer of Victor, NY, “Every aspect of the Pyramyd Air Cup goes above and beyond. Pyramyd Air makes the Cup a 4 star event all the way around.” Brewer states, “I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that their demo tent, filled with an abundance of exciting airguns, got me into the sport.”
Reigning AAFTA National Champion Ken Hughes, added, “What a weekend! The Field Target courses were challenging, and the wild, rapid-fire style of the Gunslynger event was difficult in its own right. It was great getting to meet new airgun buddies and check out the new gear from the many vendors in attendance. I really enjoyed the PA Cup!”
“Field Target is one of the most difficult shooting disciplines out there,” says Pyramyd Air Cup Match Director, Tyler Patner. “Combine the multiple skills required to rise to the top of your game, with the myriad of factors you take into account at each lane, and you’ve got a challenging sport,” he says.
“Targets are small, metal silhouettes of animals that consist of a kill zone and a colored paddle,” explains Patner. “Placed at unknown distances from between 10 yards to as far as 55 yards, the targets have kill-zones ranging in size from 3/8 inch to 1 1/2 inches. When the pellet passes through the kill zone and hits the paddle, the target falls and you’re awarded a point,” he said. “It’s a game of precision and practice. You range find with your scope, dope for distance, take the wind into account, and then you have to execute. It’s really a lot to take in,” he added. “There are different restrictions based upon your selected class, but the challenges remain the same. Wind doping, range finding, and remaining mentally tough over the entire course of fire are the biggest hurdles competitors face,” Patner says.

If you’re not in the know, Thirty Seconds Out has been releasing a downloadable ‘demotivation poster’ every week for the past few weeks or so. This week’s poster is a collaboration with Violent Little Machine Shop.
I feature a lot of LEGO products and related projects on this site, so when I saw the Kickstarter for Flexo I knew I had to write something about it. Flexo is a new brick and tendon system which is compatible with current brick brands, such as LEGO and Mega Bloks. The tendons add flexibility and angular capability to whichever bricks they’re attached to, making it easier for creators to create angles, add independent suspensions to vehicles, and more.

Since Halloween fast approaching, it’s time to start considering trick-or-treat costumes for the kiddies. One such costume is this Ghost from Modern Warfare 2 Kids Skull Commando costume. It comes with a grey, black, and green hooded shirt with printed skull face mask, as well as a vest, pants, belt, thigh holster, kneepads, headphones, and sunglasses.
Note that the toy gun and footwear is not included with the costume.
StatGear has started a project on Indiegogo for a katana-inspired EDC folding knife. The handle is made of grade 5 titanium in either black or gray, while the blade is made of 440C stainless steel with a Tanto-style edge. It’s a great looking knife, which is apparent in that the campaign easily surpassed the modest $2500 goal. There’s still a couple of days left on the project, so if you want to support it (and guarantee a knife when they’re produced) there’s still time.
Containing thermal and night vision devices, lights, knives, scopes, cleaning kits, time pieces, nylon gear, and even lab equipment aplenty, Optics Planet’s Z.E.R.O. It’s been a little over 3 years since I last featured Starcher Trek, a mashup of Archer and Star Trek the Animated Series, on TFB, and not only is still great, but it’s gotten new episodes since then.
