We recently purchased the first in the line of NERF Z-Strike zombie-themed blasters and toys. This is the Sledgefire. It’s a break-action blaster that fires three zombie strike darts at a time, loaded via a shell. The stock can hold up to three of these shells, a nine dart capacity, in addition to a shell in the chamber; the Sledgefire comes with three shells standard. It’s a bit bright and colorful for a “zombie” themed blaster, although it does have the obligatory ‘taped-up grip’ so often featured in post-apocalyptic scenarios and has branding reminding you it is in fact a Z-Strike blaster. It also features the NERF rail system standard with the N-Strike line for the attachment of additional accessories. The way it loads reminds me of the Storm PSR from Black Ops II.
This is the Machete [Machete Machete*] and the Z-Strike Z-Bombs. Fitting in a bit better with the “zombie” theme, the Machete [Machete Machete] has a duller color pallet, with a ‘taped-up’ grip and Z-Strike branding; I don’t think I need to mention it’s made of foam, but I will anyway. The Z-bombs are the most interesting part of the line, so far. They’re foam throwing projectiles, but some of them are pretty wild. From left to right: a half-football stuffed with three sticks of dynamite, some kind of explosive shell/grenade, a good-ole’-fashioned taped-up brickbat, and a sawblade.
The Slegeshot is a Target stores exclusive. I’m pretty sure you can find the Machete [Machete Machete] and the Z-bombs in other shops, although the line isn’t featured on the official NERF page yet.
*The packaging the Machete, and the rest of the line, comes in is tri-lingual: English, French, and Spanish. Since machete is spelled the same in all three languages, the name repeats itself three times.
Star Trek Into Darkness is coming out for home release soon, and Amazon is offering an exclusive blu-ray set that comes with a replica starfleet phaser. Made using the same molds Quantum Mechanix used when creating the prop phasers for the movie, the replica phaser is made from solid polystone core enrobed in metal plating with several finishes — brushed aluminum, gun metal, and chrome. The replica is spring-loaded with an active locking mechanism that allows the phaser to be switched from stun to kill. Too bad they aren’t selling the replica separate.
Nerf is getting into the zombie game with their upcoming line of Zombie Strike blasters. Details include the Zombie Strike logo and wooden and tape decorations, to give each blaster that ‘post-apocalyptic’ DIY repair feel. Two blasters, the above Hammershot and the Sledgefire, will be available September 1st at Target stores. The rest of the line, which includes a crossbow, more blasters, targets, and a sword, will be available through the rest of 2013 into 2014.
I made a bit of a blunder yesterday; turns out the original GPNVG I posted was only a 1/6th scale model. These, however, are in fact full sized. The GPNVG18 Dummy (Standard Version) by Spartan Airsoft Tactical is made from ABS plastic and (sadly) features no powered components. There was also a deluxe version that did light up, but it was limited to 800 pieces, so it could be quite a bit harder to get a hold of a set.
Check out the latest AFT video, where Ranger replies to fan questions regarding the Obama umbrella incident, the eventual release of Stanley the Honey Badger’s origin story videos, and how he deals with anti-gun lobbyists.
This 1/6 scale model of a ‘”special” forces’… model is sculpted Roberto von Behr. It comes in 27 separate unpainted resin parts with two wire parts for the grenades. Also included is 11 pieces of resin gravel to create a dynamic model of fragments of debris from bullet impacts.

Touted as the “Worlds first, multi-action rubber band shotgun…”, the Bandit Guns are one of two models that come in a kit style and are assembled from 14 pieces of laser cut birch plywood held together with binding bolts. Seen above is “The Sheriff”, which holds up to ten rubber bands, and can be fired one of three ways: single shot, rapid fire, and shotgun blast. A smaller model, “The Outlaw”, lacks a trigger, allows for 9 rubber bands, and single shot and rapid fire firing modes. Made in the USA.

This giant-sized Green Army Man is made from cold-cast resin and stands at one-and-a-half feet tall. Seam lines and injection mold rings were added to the figure to stay true to the appearance of the original plastic Army Men, although additional details such as buttons, shoelaces, hair, and a USA insignia were also added. A great nostalgia piece.
This incredibly detailed replica of the Terrible Shotgun, a unique, higher damage variant of the in-game combat shotgun, from Fallout 3 features a rear stock and forward grip cut from red oak. The barrel, heat shield, aluminum, trigger mechanism, sights, and forward pump piston are all constructed from aluminum. The right side cocking lever and trigger are both spring loaded, and the two included drum magazines are built to lock in place with magnetic catches to simulate on-screen reloads for the replica’s use in the web series ‘Fallout: Nuka Break‘. The Terrible Shotgun replica is the work of Volpin Props.

Still funny, but kinda defeats the purpose of ‘”Action Figure” Therapy’. Still, it’s always nice to see some change, and of course there’s no indication that the series will go this route; seems more like a one-off thing.

Seen above are Bag Man, Dr. Drake, Pink Fluffy Bunny, and White Bunny, the four new CIBoys created through a collaborative effort between Magpul PTS and Mad Rabbit Studio, a Taiwan based creative design house. The four CIBoys are inspired by Magpul Industries and as such feature the Magpul logo somewhere on their design. No word on pricing and availability at the moment. Also, I’ll be damned if Pink Fluffy Bunny doesn’t look like an unholy union of Frank the Bunny from Donnie Darko and the Trollface of internet fame, but with a red suit.
Another amazingly detailed 1:4 scale (20.5 inches) replica figurine from the folks at Sideshow Collectables. This time, its of Dutch Schaefer, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character in the cinema classic ‘Predator’. The Dutch figurine is clad in a real fabric costume that includes woodland camo pants and shirt, a detailed vest, and jungle boots and comes armed with an M-16 with M203 grenade launcher, .45 caliber pistol, machete, and knife.
It seems when the Russians stole the plans for S.H.I.E.L.D.’s helicarrier, they drastically misinterpreted the proper dimensions when building their own version.
Marudai has introduced this model RPG-7 that fires liquid-filled bottle rockets from what looks like pressure induced by a common bicycle pump. It retails for approximately $360 US, but as far as I know it’s only available in Japan; better find an importer if you want one of these.
