Bruce Campbell Has Officially Retired As Ash Williams

Tuesday, April 24th, 2018

In wake of the cancellation of the excellent ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ series on Starz (the first two seasons are on Netflix if you haven’t seen it already), Bruce Campbell announced his retirement in portraying Ash. To what degree isn’t specified, but he certainty means any live action portrayals, and potentially any voice work as well.

Noting like this is ever definite, after all, how many times has Mark Hamill said he’s retired from voicing The Joker? Still, being known largely for portraying a single character for over 30 years has got to wear on a person. Besides, we got 3 seasons of a great tv show with the character before the end.

It’s best to enjoy the time we had, rather than lament what will never be.

Thursday, October 3rd, 2013

Turns out there’s some interesting Japanese propaganda art from the Russo-Japanese war, done in the Shunga style. FYI, if you don’t know what Shunga is, there’s a reason the image is hidden…

Halo-Themed M9A1 Grips

Sunday, August 18th, 2013

User ucfnate on Reddit showed off his Halo-themed grips for his M9A1 pistol. The work was done by Derek Smith of DS Grips, and feature the UNSC logo on one side, and a glow-in-the-dark ring on the other that closely replicates the same hue of Cortana’s light.

You can check out more photos at ucfnate’s imgur gallery.

Glock Extends Pre-Registration For Glock ID

Tuesday, February 5th, 2013

Due to exceeding the original 10,000 pre-registration limit placed on early access to Glock ID, a soon-to-be-launched Glock online community, Glock has extended the number of pre-registrant slots to 20,000. Benefits for pre-registering include gaining early access to the site, the adoption of the ‘Early Adopter Patch’, which is a reward that counts as points towards your Glock ID profile, and a chance to have the Gunny himself, R. Lee Ermey, record a voicemail message for you.

Glock ID offers the following for those who join the site: a virtual gun safe to keep track of range time, cleaning dates and more, training lessons, a community Q&A for peer discussion, and an engaging process for earning points and ‘patches’ to rank up and earn GLOCK rewards.

TFB Patches Are In The Works

Wednesday, January 30th, 2013

Just in case you’re not a frequenter of the Tactical Fanboy Facebook page, we are currently working with Mil-Spec Monkey on getting a run of Fanboy logo patches made up. These are some color variations that don’t necessarily represent what the final products will look like, although, as I’ve said before, I really dig the bottom-right pattern.

SEAL Team X Wants YOU!

Monday, June 20th, 2011

The Mad Duo

Conspiracy theories about the death of Bin Laden may abound, and deep sea divers with more optimism than common sense may be diving to find his body, but we’ll never know the identity of the trigger-puller who actually put metal to meat during the raid at Abbottabad…or will we?

Want to be known as the operator who killed the worlds most wanted man?

Visit eBay.

Yep, that’s right boys and girls. Hype Comics of Miami FL is releasing a comic version of the fateful raid in Pakistan, and if you bid high enough they’ll put your face on the operator who pulls the trigger at the moment of truth. You won’t me a member of DevGru though. You’ll be a shooter on Seal Team X.

“The auction winner will also receive a panel of original hand-drawn artwork with their character in action,” says Hype’s CEO Scott Owneby, “proudly autographed by the original artist.”

The auction began on June 13th and is scheduled to last until June 23rd. As of Friday the 17th there were six bids, the highest $250, a seemingly lackluster response but it’s still early.

“Anybody is welcome to bid,” states Ownbey. “The only requirement, due to pre-existing story considerations, is that the winning bidder be male.”

Seal Team X: The Blood of Bin Laden is scheduled for release as a digital comic book for Kindle, Nook, iPad and other devices with eBook apps. Apparently, Blood of Bin Laden is only the first in an entire SEAL Team X series.

Hype advises that they’ll be donating a portion of the proceeds to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans).

More about the contest here.

If you have any ideas for us to discuss, review or revile, visit us at Breach-Bang-Clear or FaceBook, or just e-mail us…unless you’re going to whine or complain about our opinions, writing style or philosophy in which case don’t bother. MAD DUO CLEAR!

‘Shooter’ In Pencil

Saturday, April 23rd, 2011

This amazingly detailed drawing of a man aiming an M14 M1A/SOCOM II is titled ‘Shooter’, and it’s done entirely in pencil. In fact, the detail is so great, one could almost assume it was a black and white photograph. The artist is Renee Alane, and more of her fantastic work can be found on the Facebook page RM Pencil Drawings.

Does He Happen To Hold His Sidearm Sideways As Well?

I seriously feel like yelling at this dude and telling him to put on a belt and a smaller sized blouse.

Bolt-Action Door Lock

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

As seen on Fail Blog, in their Win category. An old-school bolt-action rifle carved around the actual bolt lock of a bathroom door. Someone claims it’s a Mosin-Nagant carbine. I agree, specifically the Mosin-Nagant Model 1944 carbine:

Sure, it’s not a perfect copy, but it’s pretty damn close. But I’m always open to being proven wrong, so if you have a better idea of what that rifle could possibly be a carving of, there’s a comment section waiting for you.

SOG Knives Vid Staring The Gunny

Friday, February 4th, 2011

Do you like SOG knives? Do you like The Gunny? Then like SOG Knives on Facebook. The full film, which details the rest of The Gunny’s fishing trip, will be up at 7pm EST. My guess is he yells that rock into non-existence, or shoots it with one of his Glocks. After watching the film, you have the chance to win one of several SOG products by answering two questions about it. So pay attention to the film, and you could end up one SOG knife richer.

Welcome to Tactical Fanboy!

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

The long wait is over: Tactical Fanboy is live! Besides the obligatory, and very much enjoyed, SHOT coverage, I’ll also be offering up heaping helpings of information on the “latest news on the entertainment side of the tactical industry.”. Along with this, expect the occasional ‘NSFW’ piece (I’ll warn you beforhand), contests to win cool swag, and the addition of reader’s comments. That’s right! Unlike a certain other blog, you can now comment on articles to your heart’s content. Like what I’m doing? Disagree with my opinion? Just plain hate everything I do? Tell me, it’s how I improve. Finally, don’t forget to check out my Facebook and Twitter pages. They’re both great ways to check the latest fanboy news.

For those at SHOT, I’ll see you on the floor. Everyone else, enjoy what’s to come and stay tuned for more.

Tactical Fanboy Goes The Social Network

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

Sadly, this doesn’t mean the rights to my life are being optioned into an awesome movie, but instead this is an announcement that you can now add ‘Tactical Fanboy’ on Facebook. Also, if you happen to have an Xbox Live account, you can friend request ‘Tactical Fanboy’. Regretfully, it’s first come, first serve, since there are only 100 open friend slots allowed on XBL. Even so, that shouldn’t discourage you from joining up for any community playdates we’ll set up in the near future.
