Bandit Guns: Rubber Band Shotgun On Kickstarter

Friday, November 23rd, 2012

Touted as the “Worlds first, multi-action rubber band shotgun…”, the Bandit Guns are one of two models that come in a kit style and are assembled from 14 pieces of laser cut birch plywood held together with binding bolts. Seen above is “The Sheriff”, which holds up to ten rubber bands, and can be fired one of three ways: single shot, rapid fire, and shotgun blast. A smaller model, “The Outlaw”, lacks a trigger, allows for 9 rubber bands, and single shot and rapid fire firing modes. Made in the USA.

Giant Plastic Green Army Man

Thursday, November 15th, 2012

This giant-sized Green Army Man is made from cold-cast resin and stands at one-and-a-half feet tall. Seam lines and injection mold rings were added to the figure to stay true to the appearance of the original plastic Army Men, although additional details such as buttons, shoelaces, hair, and a USA insignia were also added. A great nostalgia piece.

Fallout 3 Terrible Shotgun Replica

Friday, November 9th, 2012

This incredibly detailed replica of the Terrible Shotgun, a unique, higher damage variant of the in-game combat shotgun, from Fallout 3 features a rear stock and forward grip cut from red oak. The barrel, heat shield, aluminum, trigger mechanism, sights, and forward pump piston are all constructed from aluminum. The right side cocking lever and trigger are both spring loaded, and the two included drum magazines are built to lock in place with magnetic catches to simulate on-screen reloads for the replica’s use in the web series ‘Fallout: Nuka Break‘. The Terrible Shotgun replica is the work of Volpin Props.

Action Figure Therapy Animated (NSFW!!!)

Thursday, November 8th, 2012

Still funny, but kinda defeats the purpose of ‘”Action Figure” Therapy’. Still, it’s always nice to see some change, and of course there’s no indication that the series will go this route; seems more like a one-off thing.

New Magpul PTS CIBoys

Wednesday, September 5th, 2012

Seen above are Bag Man, Dr. Drake, Pink Fluffy Bunny, and White Bunny, the four new CIBoys created through a collaborative effort between Magpul PTS and Mad Rabbit Studio, a Taiwan based creative design house. The four CIBoys are inspired by Magpul Industries and as such feature the Magpul logo somewhere on their design. No word on pricing and availability at the moment. Also, I’ll be damned if Pink Fluffy Bunny doesn’t look like an unholy union of Frank the Bunny from Donnie Darko and the Trollface of internet fame, but with a red suit.

Dutch Schaefer Premium Format Figure

Monday, August 27th, 2012

Another amazingly detailed 1:4 scale (20.5 inches) replica figurine from the folks at Sideshow Collectables. This time, its of Dutch Schaefer, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character in the cinema classic ‘Predator’. The Dutch figurine is clad in a real fabric costume that includes woodland camo pants and shirt, a detailed vest, and jungle boots and comes armed with an M-16 with M203 grenade launcher, .45 caliber pistol, machete, and knife.

You can pre-order from Sideshow Collectables.

RC S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier

Friday, August 24th, 2012

It seems when the Russians stole the plans for S.H.I.E.L.D.’s helicarrier, they drastically misinterpreted the proper dimensions when building their own version.

RPG-7 PET (Plastic Bottle) Launcher

Sunday, July 29th, 2012

Marudai has introduced this model RPG-7 that fires liquid-filled bottle rockets from what looks like pressure induced by a common bicycle pump. It retails for approximately $360 US, but as far as I know it’s only available in Japan; better find an importer if you want one of these.

The Desktop Ballista

Sunday, July 15th, 2012

Another Kickstarter project with a cool product, this time from a group named Legion-10 for the creation of Desktop Ballistae. The kits consist of laser cut hardwood and take roughly 30 minutes to construct. A deluxe version that uses a horse hair rope along with brass and steel parts (for added realism) and a ballista target is available at higher donation levels. Additionally, custom laser engraving is also an option.

The project’s already over 10 times its minimum required pledge level, but a sufficiently high donation will guarantee a Ballista for those interested.

Assassin’s Creed Replica Hidden Blade Vambrace

Friday, July 6th, 2012

NECA is releasing a replica of the hidden blade as used by Ezio Auditore da Firenze in the Assassin’s Creed series of video games. Made of PVC and ABS plastics, it’s highly detailed with a surprisingly quick spring loaded action that launches the roughly 15″ plastic blade with the push of a button; a safety lock mechanism helps to prevent any unwarranted deployments of said blade. An adjustable buckle and Velcro straps keep the replica secure on the user’s wrist. It’s available exclusively through GameStop and will be released October 30th of this year. There’s also a video the pre-order site, so you can see it in action.

G.I. Joe Retaliation Battle-Kata Blaster

Saturday, June 30th, 2012

‘G.I. Joe Retaliation’ is coming out soon, and with the release of a movie based on a toy property comes the toy line of the movie based on a toy line. One of the more interesting items to be released is the Battle-Kata Blaster. What makes it so interesting is the grip and trigger can be removed from the blaster and a blade hidden in the forward grip can be attached to it, so the toy functions as a 2-in-1 gun/knife combo. It also comes with 3 blaster bolts, but the blaster uses a psuedo-bolt action that doesn’t launch them very far, so.. eh.

Laser Cut Puzzle Firearm

Sunday, June 10th, 2012

Laserist on Etsy has created a couple of cool laser cut puzzles that form into models of firearms when completed. Seen above is the Uzi (not shown is the .357 magnum revolver). Their puzzles can take anywhere from a few minutes to four hours to work out, based on their complexity. Also available is a military Humvee and submarine.

Dart Blaster Tactial Rail Clip Holder On Kickstarter

Tuesday, March 13th, 2012

Random Hat, LLC is a small, two-person company located in Hastings, MN that’s looking to break into the world of 3rd-party Nerf accessories. Their first idea is for the ‘Dart Blaster Tactical Rail Clip Holder’ seen above. It connects to the dart magazine via a Velcro strap, allowing one to attach said magazine to any of the picatinny-esque rails featured on many of the more recent Nerf blasters. They only have until Saturday, March 24th to reach their (admittedly high) goal of $20,000, so don’t don’t wait to long to donate if you feel the project is worth it.

Nick Fury Limited Edition Action Figure

Saturday, February 25th, 2012

For the record, I’m more of a fan of the original Earth-616, Howling Commandos Fury than I am of the Ultimates Fury that Samuel Jackson’s character in the upcoming ‘The Avengers’ is clearly based on. Having said that, this is one pretty bad ass action figure. Aside from a highly-detailed 1/6th scale (approximately 30 cm tall) sculpt, the figure also features over 30 points of articulation. Accessories include a labeled stand, multiple interchangeable hands, an RPG, pistol, and suitcase with light-up tesseract (Cosmic Cube for the purists) and patterns.

You can see more images on Hot Toys’ Facebook page.

SHOT Show 2012 – Chris Costa Action Figure

Saturday, January 21st, 2012

I spied this pair of Chris Costa action figures hanging around the Nighthawk Custom booth. He comes equipped with an Arc’teryx beanie and pant, Costa Ludis long-sleeve t-shirt, custom Nighthawk 1911, and other real-world gear. Also, notice how the figure sitting on his imprisoned twin’s plastic case is rocking MultiCam pants and boots. A limited variant, perhaps?

How Kim Jong Il Really Died – Action Figure Therapy (NSFW)

Monday, December 19th, 2011

I think we all knew that Kim Jong’s heart attack was just a North Korean government media coverup, but I never would have guessed it was Jungle Recon’s mighty Syphilis that did ‘im in.

Tactical Fanboy Gift Idea #10: The Guardian From Big Trouble In Little China

Saturday, December 3rd, 2011

The Guardian by Mike Graham of Zombie Monkey is a great gift for anyone who’s a huge fan of the John Carpenter classic ‘Big Trouble in Little China’. For those who don’t know, The Guardian was the eyes and ears for Lo Pan, the main antagonist, in his vast underground lair. Also, Jack Burton (Kurt Russell) shot it, so that has to count for something, right? Personally, I always got a Beholder vibe from this thing, minus the capacity to completely destroy any high level party that happens upon it. Anyway, it’s roughly the size of a human head, is made from over five pounds of Magic Sculpt putty and a Mega Munny head, and will set you back $500. Remember how I said “…for anyone who’s a huge fan…”?

Zombie Attack Barbie!

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

This clever image shop by Sarah Anne Langton of Secret Arctic Base shows exactly how awesome a Barbie doll would be if the Zombie craze happened five decades earlier. Throw a few of those Zombie Ken dolls in the mix, and you’d have the ultimate playtime doomsday scenario, just with more pink and effeminate, formerly-living boyfriends. Now with grenades!

Because Skynet is clearly running out of ideas after four movies. Still, arguably better then those Baby Terminators they developed.

Halo: Reach SRS99 Anti-Matériel In LEGO

Saturday, November 5th, 2011

The model weapons that can be built with legos never cease to impress me. This time, it’s the SRS99 Anti-Matériel rifle as seen in Halo: Reach, built by one Nick Jensen. It features a removable magazine, sliding bolt, and functioning trigger, however it doesn’t fire any projectiles. This doesn’t detract from the awesomeness of the model, however as it’s still extremely impressive as is.
