Spira and Duck Dynasty have partnered up to create officially licensed Duck Dynasty camouflage shoes. The shoes are based on Spira’s Stinger XLT performance shoe which features WaveSpring technology. They’re currently up for croudfunding on RocketHub, where they’ve already exceed their initial $100,000 goal. It’s also implied that only through RocketHub that the featured versions of these shoes can be obtained; they’re billed as limited edition. What’s really cool about the funding, however is that by exceeding the funding goal, A&E is donating $20,000 to America’s VetDogs, an organization that provides service dogs for disabled veterans and active duty personnel.

Local Motors Configurator
August 22nd, 2013The Local Motors Rally Fighter is a kick-ass machine, but it’s a little above obtainable for the common man. Still, you can at least model your ideal RF using the Local Motors Configurator. You can choose the primary and secondary color scheme, the design pattern, additional details like accessories and rims, and even one of two environments to model it in. The one I configured for the image has an Urban Camo pattern with OD Green as the main and a textured black as the accent.
Mil-Spec Monkey Logo Spotted In Call Of Duty: Ghosts Footage
August 21st, 2013I was watching some of the alpha multiplayer footage from Call of Duty: Ghosts and I noticed a very familiar looking logo being used as a player emblem. Specifically, it’s the Mil-Spec Monkey logo, slightly altered to include either some frost or a white beard along the chin. I contacted Monkey directly about spotting this, to get his take on its inclusion in the game. The verdict? While I wasn’t flat out told directly, it doesn’t look like its use was authorized by Monkey himself.
It can be seen in this video around the 1:30 and 1:50 marks.
Alpha Industries
August 21st, 2013Started in October, 1959, Alpha Industries began as a small-scale manufacturer of military clothing. Over the years, they grew in size and ended up supplying jackets and pants for US Military forces, including Air Force and Naval Aviation flight jackets, Army and Marine Corps field jackets, and other military pants and clothing; over 40 million garments up to and through the Vietnam War. They’re best known for the MA-1 flight jacket and the M-65 field jacket, which initially reached the public through surplus supplies. Now, Alpha Industries offers both military garments and military-inspired casual clothing for public consumption, easily recognized thanks to the iconic three-line label, which Alpha trademarked and integrated into their logo.

Chrome Reflective Camouflage – Orlav
August 19th, 2013Chrome has released a limited edition run of three of their signature bags with a special reflective camouflage. Specifically, the bags are printed with a French camo pattern, and the fourth color of each of the three variants is made from a glass-bead print that is reflective up to 100 feet. The three available pattern variants are Black, Desert, and Woodland. The bags are made in the USA.
This particular bag is the Orlav. It’s constructed from weatherproof, 1000D Cordura nylon with a welded-weatherproof 1200D military-grade truck tarpaulin liner. Dual waterproof compartments separate wet and dry cargo, and external pockets feature stainless-steel hardware for quick, secure access to u-lock and work tools. The Orlav also features daisy-chain mounting loop for attaching carabineer clips or bike lights, and a zippered pocket designed to fit up to a Macbook Pro 15″ laptop. In addition to the Orlav, the Victor and Citizen bags got the reflective treatment.
Hasbro Teams Up With Theodolite For NERF N-Strike Elite Tactical App
August 19th, 2013Williamsburg, Virginia – Hunter Research and Technology is pleased to announce it’s latest client app project, the Nerf Mission App, developed in partnership with Hasbro, Inc. The Nerf Mission App works with the new Nerf N-Strike Elite Tactical Rail Mount Accessory and turns an N-Strike Elite blaster into a full battle cam with heads up display, compass, inclinometer, and rangefinder. The app lets users record photos and videos, track their arsenal, learn about hand signals used to communicate with a squad, and plan out different missions for multiplayer Nerf battles.
The Nerf Mission App is based on the Theodolite Augmented Reality Navigation app developed by Hunter Research and Technology. This game-changing app defined a new standard for augmented reality navigation when it debuted in 2009, and has been a #1 selling navigation app in iTunes stores around the world. Theodolite works as a heads up display with compass, GPS, map, zoom photo/movie camera, rangefinder, tracker, and two-axis inclinometer. Uses are endless, and Theodolite is great for outdoor sports, hiking, boating, hunting, golf, sightseeing, photography, home projects, and navigation. The app has professional grade features for advanced measurement, observation, and data acquisition, and is used in the field on the job every day by military personnel, first responders, search and rescue workers, surveyors, geologists, architects, engineers, and competitive sportsmen around the world.
Theodolite lets users take geo-stamped camera images, screenshots, movies, and HUD-based screen movies directly from the app. The app includes features like a navigation calculator, map with live markers, team tracking, data logging, KML export, percent grade display, mil compass readout, optical rangefinders (including a mil-based reticle and sniper-style stadiametric graphs), and colored lens filters to improve use in dark conditions and preserve night vision. Theodolite supports over a dozen position formats, and offers an optional World Geodetic Datum Pack with over 220 geodetic datums covering regions and countries on all continents around the world.
“We’re pleased to take Theodolite’s powerful augmented reality technology in a fun and exciting new direction,” said Dr. Craig Hunter, principal and lead developer at Hunter Research and Technology. “Theodolite has a strong customer base of professionals, outdoor enthusiasts, and high-tech gadget nerds, and the Nerf Mission App brings a whole new group of more playful and younger users into the fold.”
The Nerf Mission App is available for free from the iTunes App Store, and works with most iPhone and iPod touch devices running iOS 5.0 or later (iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S, and 5 are supported, as well as 4th- and 5th-generation iPod touch). The Nerf N-Strike Elite Tactical Rail Mount Accessory is for ages 8 and up, and sold separately. See www.nerf.com for more information and a list of retailers.

Shambles
August 17th, 2013Yeah, the market is a bit beyond oversaturated with zombies at the moment, but this game made by Markus “Notch” Persson of Minecraft fame is quite similar to FPS games of old, like Doom and Duke Nukem, and is pretty entertaining, considering it was made in only seven days. Plus, it’s pretty funny that the pistol and rifle were modeled after NERF blasters.

The TIHK – Tiny Inconspicuous Handcuff Key
August 15th, 2013The TIHK, or Tiny Inconspicuous Handcuff Key, is exactly what the name implies, a small handcuff key designed to be hidden on one’s person. The TIHK features an attachment clip, minimal form factor, and a non-reflective matte coating to insure it remains undetected when detained. The key is designed to fit all standard “peerless” single and double-lock handcuffs. While concealable handcuff keys/unlock tools are nothing new, unlike other examples, this particular product is currently up for crowdfunding to fund the manufacturing process.
