Darth Vader Touring His New Home

November 1st, 2012

In (the unlikely event) you missed the news, Disney purchased LucasFilms and most, if not all, of its assets for 4 billion dollars. I wonder if we’ll finally see a blu-ray release of the original, unaltered trilogy now that Lucas and his “vision” isn’t holding it back. I also request a version of ‘Crystal Skull’ with all scenes featuring Shia LeBeouf either altered or completely removed.

Laser Cut Dollar Snubnosed .38 Revolver

October 30th, 2012

This is part of a collection of laser cut sculptures made from US currency by Brooklyn-based artist Scott Campbell. Although the rest of the collection seems to be missing any additional firearms-based imagery, there’s plenty of kick-ass skulls, bones, and reapers that more than make up for it.

Cardboard M4 Carbine

October 29th, 2012

While not the most accurate model of an M4 Carbine ever made out of cardboard, this rendition with a telescoping stock, removable magazine, and flat top rail with fixed front sight shows effort and ingenuity.

CODENAME: DELTA SiX FPS Controlller on Kickstarter

October 26th, 2012

The DELTA SiX is an attempt to make the perfect FPS game controller. Designed to closely mimic an actual firearm, it features an accelerometer and kickback to simulate aiming movement and firing while a removable magazine simulates actual reloading. An ergonomic design places the face buttons along the grip for easy access, and a chin activation placed on top of the controller, behind the optional scope attachment, activates the in-game ADS (aim down sight). Other optional attachments include a grenade launcher and suppressor. The controller will be compatible with Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and Wii U, with plans to produce models for any next gen game consoles.

Camillus Les Stroud “Survivorman” Machete

October 24th, 2012

This is the Les Stroud Camillus SK Jungle Machete. Designed specifically for survival purposes, the SK Jungle features an 11 3/4 inch long, 2/10 inch thick 440-stainless steel blade which is treated with Carbonitride Titanium, a proprietary process that bonds formulated titanium and chromium nitride to the steel, giving it a surface up to three times harder than the base steel in addition to a more corrosive resistant finish and friction free cutting surface. The blade has a slight inward sweep for better capturing whatever needs to be cut, and the flat tip is sharpened for use with digging and smaller cutting chores.

The 5 1/2 inch handle is constructed from polypropylene with high traction TRP rubber inserts for added grip traction, even in cold weather, and features a lanyard hole. The pommel is checkered hard steel for non-slip hammering which makes it safer from slipping off a stuck object. The SK Jungle comes with a ballistic nylon sheath with built-in fire starter and a nylon mesh pocket.

This is the ‘Boot Camp collection’ of cloth diapers by Charlie Banana which will be available in stores later this year. They come in three camo patterns: Woodland, Snow, and Chocolate Chip. I know that cloth diapers are a somewhat strange thing to be covering, but hey, the patterns are pretty cool looking.

Axe Gun

October 18th, 2012

Axe gun or pistol sword, either option kinda negates the well-known phrase “never bring a knife to a gun fight”.

Flare – An Interactive Post-Apocalyptic Video Series

October 16th, 2012

‘Flare’ is a video series by Forth Wall Studios that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world (sans zombies, as far as I can tell) where the sun, moon, the stars, and electricity went out. What makes it interactive, so to speak, is it’s one of Fourth Wall’s RIDES series, where the viewer can give additional info, such as their phone number and email, to receive messages detailing other elements of the story to further deepen the experience.

You can watch the first episode titled ‘The Hunt’ here.

Watch Out For Zombies On The Highway!

October 12th, 2012

Drivers in Portland, Maine were treated to this message as they drove down the highway on October 10th. Appearantly, it’s the work of a hacker who replaced the default sign which warned of delays caused by night work. It might have been more amusing (to me at least) if zombies weren’t starting to get old, if not already way past that point.

Enter The Freeman

October 10th, 2012

Two things:

1) This is an amazing fan film based on an amazing property!

2) Why is Gordon Freeman talking?

Anyway, it’s no ‘Half-Life 2: Episode 3’, but it’s definitely worth watching.
