5.11 Gun Camo Cap

October 26th, 2014

Gun Camo Cap

5.11 Tactical came up with their own ‘gun camo’, which is a camouflage-inspired design that uses the silhouettes of more than a few popular and/or iconic firearms. This cap in particular, which features the pattern, is made from polyester fabric with a dobby mesh six panel design, adjustable fit, and integrated sweatband.

The 5.11 Gun Camo Cap seems to be the only product currently available on the official 5.11 Tactical website that uses the Gun Camo, however they’ve also done a line of beanies, also available in Brown and Grey, that are available from numerous online retailers.

Two New NERF Z-Strike Melee Weapons

October 25th, 2014

image1

NERF has released two new melee weapons as part of their Z-Strike line of blasters and accessories, the 2×4 and the Z-Wrench Axe. Well, to be more specific, the 2×4 is part of the ‘Zombie Strike’ line, and the Z-Wrench Axe is part of the ‘Zombie Strike Z.E.D. (Zombie Epidemic Defense) Squad’ line; sub-branding, it’s a helluva thing, eh?

image2

The 2×4 has some kind of taped handle and a sheet of spiked metal bolted around the head. Pretty standard affair. I actually double checked my post history just to make completely sure I hadn’t already done this one.

Now, the Z-Wrench Axe is something else. In fact, it is my absolute favorite weapon in the entire Z-Strike line thus far. It’s a Monkey Wrench clamping down on an axe head, with tape and/or cloth functioning as extra support for holding the head in place. Simplistic, yet extremely creative. It doesn’t share the same worn look as most of the rest of the Z-Strike line; there is some kind of unspecified addition to the handle which functions as a grip, maybe it’s supposed to be a kind of wire.

Like most Z-Strike products, these can be found where ever toys are sold.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron Trailer

October 22nd, 2014

An early leak of the Age of Ultron teaser trailer has forced Disney to release it officially, a day ahead of its intended release after tomorrow’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Gotta say, it looks pretty damn cool, what with the Hulkbuster Armor, the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver (which thanks to convoluted contractual loopholes is conveniently unrelated to his Days of Future Past incarnation), and big bad Ultron, in this continuity a creation of Tony Stark, not Hank ‘Ant-Man’ Pym.

Age of Ultron drops May 15th, 2015.

Crosman – Benjamin Armada PCP Air Rifle

October 22nd, 2014

rifle-1

The Benjamin Armada is a .22 caliber pre-charged pneumatic rifle which features a Magpul M-LOK modular accessory system forend. According to the manufacturer, the Armada is the first commercially available PCP rifle that “allows shooters the same breadth of modularity and user configurability as enjoyed by the AR community.” It achieves this through the aforementioned M-LOK forend, as well as designing the rifle to Mil-Spec dimensions for the grip and stock interfaces.

The Armada is capable of delivering velocities of up to 1000 FPS with 32 foot pounds of energy. Included is a 10-shot magazine. The rifle features full suppression, and is capable of 30 shots per fill. The receiver has a machined Picatinny rail, and the bolt is reversible for left-handed shooters. Also included is an on-board gauge and two-stage trigger.

Unfortunately, the images aren’t showing the production model. Rather, it’s a special one-of-a-kind model that’s currently up for auction on Gunbroker through November 2nd, with the proceeds going to benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation. The package contains:

– Magpul M-LOK Modular Locking System
– Magpul PRS (Precision Rifle / Sniper) adjustable stock
– Magpul MBUS Pro Sight front and rear
– Magpul MIAD GEN 1.1 Grip Type 1
– Magpul M-LOK Cantilever Rail / Light mount
– Surefire Scout weapon light
– Tarjac Multi-Cam finish
– Zeiss TERRA 3x 4-12×50 mm scope
– Telescoping bipod
– 3 removable/configurable, M-LOK compatible handguards
– Custom embroidered Benjamin rifle case

The Armada is built in America.

TrackingPoint Unveils The Next Generation Of Precision-Guided Semi-Automatic Rifles

October 16th, 2014

Some more news from TrackingPoint, as they have announced three new semi-auto rifles equipped with PGF technology. The full release can be read below:

Pflugerville, TEXAS (October 14, 2014) — TrackingPoint™, creator of the world’s first and only Precision-Guided Firearm (PGF) systems, introduces new semi-automatic rifles that utilize fighter jet lock-and-launch technology enabling shots once considered beyond human ability. The new semi-autos enable you to make routine shots on targets moving up to 15mph out to ranges of more than one half mile. The new precision-guided semi-autos connect via WiFi to TrackingPoint’s newly introduced ShotGlass™ shooting glass technology. The Google Glass™ of hunting and shooting, ShotGlass™ enhances your precision-guided shooting experience via a built-in camera and high definition video display.

“The new semi-auto models were designed for several missions including wild boar eradication, predator control (including coyotes), whitetail hunting, homestead defense, and precision target shooting,” said TrackingPoint CEO John Lupher. “Precision-guided semi-automatic rifles are the game changer. Routinely making extraordinary shots at extreme distances on moving targets is a thrilling experience.”

The new semi-auto Precision-Guided Firearms are based on TrackingPoint’s breakthrough Tag-and-Shoot™ system. Tag-and-Shoot frees the shooter from common errors caused by jitter and trigger jerk. With Tag-and-Shoot, ballistics are calculated automatically and the need to estimate shot hold-over is eliminated, enabling you to successfully eradicate moving targets at extraordinary distances. Third party testing validates that Precision-Guided Firearms enable you to shoot better than the best shooter that ever lived.

TrackingPoint is offering three new semi-auto precision-guided rifles:

SA_556

A 5.56 caliber with one-third mile range at up to 10MPH target velocity for $7,495.

SA_762

A 7.62 caliber with half-mile range at 15MPH target velocity for $14,995.

SA_300WM

A brand new .300 WM with half-mile range at up to 20MPH target velocity for $18,995.

The VSSL Zombie – Fighting The Undead Horde With A Bouquet Of Flowers

October 15th, 2014

Back in August, we featured a product called the VSSL. It is an LED flashlight with a large handle that is used as a survival canister.

The project is currently on Kickstarter with 8 days left to go. Originally, one of the configurations was a Zombie themed VSSL which would have included a spike head attachment. As it turns out, Kickstarter has a “no-weapons” policy, and forced the project team to remove that particular configuration from the offerings. Here is how they responded:

Zombie VSSL

The Zombie VSSL features a black exterior, and comes with a dual mode LED flashlight, oil filled compass, surgical mask, and bouquet of flowers attachment head. Why (re)kill the undead when you can court them, right?

TrackingPoint Introduces ShotGlass, The First Wearable Tech For Hunting And Shooting

October 14th, 2014

Today, TrackingPoint announced their ShotGlass wearable tech. Think Google Glass, but geared specifically to interface with TrackingPoint’s line of PGFs. The full release can be read below:

ShotGlassJet_Black2

ShotGlass™, the Google Glass™ of hunting and shooting, enhances the precision-guided shooting experience via a built-in camera and high definition video display.

Pflugerville, TEXAS (October 14, 2014) — TrackingPoint™, creator of the world’s first and only Precision-Guided Firearm (PGF) systems, today announces the world’s first weapon-integrated digital shooting glasses, ShotGlass™. The new digital shooting glasses allow you to routinely make extraordinary shots from around corners, covered positions, over walls and behind trees. ShotGlass™ includes a video camera, microphone, and a high-definition video display, that automatically records high definition videos of your hunting and shooting experiences.

“ShotGlass™ is similar to Google Glass™ but optimized for shooting sports,” said TrackingPoint CEO John Lupher. “The innovative shooting glasses have an aggressive high-tech posture and connect wirelessly to TrackingPoint’s Precision-Guided Firearm’s. ShotGlass™ can even record the excitement of your voice when you make an astonishing shot on a moving trophy at extreme distance.”

ShotGlass™ has four primary uses:

1) Shooting around corners. Shoot from completely protected positions from behind trees or around corners when necessary to remain unexposed to the target.

2) Increase situational awareness. When you are zoomed in on a target with your Precision-Guided Firearm, the view in ShotGlass™ can remain zoomed out. This permits you two unique fields-of-view on the same shot.

3) Video/Voice Recording. ShotGlass™ can record everything you are seeing and saying. With the same capabilities as a GoPro™, ShotGlass™ videos can download directly to smart devices for sharing with friends, family and social media.

4) Collaborative shooting and mentoring. Friends or family can wear ShotGlass™ while others are shooting. They can see exactly what the shooter is seeing and share the same experience. Fathers can mentor children by guiding them to the proper whitetail. Professional hunters can see exactly what target their client is engaging and direct the client to the desired target and to the actual desired point-of-impact. In battle, a spotter wears ShotGlass™ to direct their sniper to the desired target in real-time under high battle stress.

ShotGlass™ is simple to use. Put them on like any other glasses and get ready to experience high-definition displays showing exactly what the TrackingPoint Precision-Guided Firearm is pointing toward. Now engage your target without actually looking through the Precision-Guided Firearm. You can shoot from a completely covered position without exposing your position. Hit a wild boar at 900 yards from behind a tree with only the PGF and shooting hand exposed. Tag-and-Shoot an entire pack of wild boar without being detected.

ShotGlassJet_black1

“Wearable tech, designed to enhance the shooting and hunting experience, changes the way you experience the sport,” said TrackingPoint CEO John Lupher. “ShotGlass™ adds an element to hunting and shooting that is beyond belief.”

Technical Specifications

• Wide Screen WQVGA display (Image appears as if on a 30” HD Display)
• High contrast and brightness
• Power saving sleep mode
• Optical control buttons – control even with hunting gloves on
• HD Camera
• Speaker and Microphone

Accepting pre-orders now for delivery in March, ShotGlass™ is available for $995 to TrackingPoint Precision-Guided Firearm owners. ShotGlass™ is free of charge with the purchase of your Precision-Guided Firearm prior to November 30, 2014. For more information visit www.Tracking-Point.com/ShotGlass.

Paper Airplane Machine Gun

October 8th, 2014

The Paper Airplane Machine Gun, or Papierflieger-Maschinenpistole (yes, it was made in Germany), is made mostly from 3D printed parts. It takes sheets of paper, internally folds them into paper airplanes, and then launches them. It reminds me in the loosest sense of that gun in the upcoming CoD: Advanced Warfare that 3D prints its own bullets from a canister of “liquid matter”*. The future is clearly now.

*This link leads to the official campaign trailer for Advanced Warfare. The 3D printer rifle is used by the player for most of the gameplay – notice how the total ammo count slowly increases.

Red Bull Class Action Settlement

October 7th, 2014

If you have purchased a Red Bull energy drink product in the United States between January 1st, 2002, and October 3rd, 2014, then you likely qualify as part of two class action lawsuits currently being held against Red Bull.

As part of the ongoing settlement, a qualified consumer may claim either:

1) a $10 check

2) $15 worth of Red Bull products shipped to your chosen address at Red Bull’s expense

No proof of purchase is necessary if you decide to submit a claim form, however it must be signed under penalty of perjury, so in the most extreme of scenarios it might not hurt to have an old receipt laying around.

For more information, and to fill out and submit a claim form, visit energydrinksettlement.com/index.
