Imperial Death Star Officer’s Cap
Thursday, September 6th, 2012ThinkGeek is selling replicas of the Imperial Death Star Officer’s Cap from the ‘Star Wars’ films. They’re created from the existing cut patterns from the LucasFilms archives and made using a heavy, custom dyed, all-cotton weave, which is similar to the fabric used to make the originals. The cap also includes an aluminum Imperial disk, which functions as “the metal thing in the center of the forehead”. Great for cosplay or just wearing around, because nothing says ‘I’m awesome’ quite like an Imperial Officer’s Cap.
You can buy it here.
New Magpul PTS CIBoys
Wednesday, September 5th, 2012Seen above are Bag Man, Dr. Drake, Pink Fluffy Bunny, and White Bunny, the four new CIBoys created through a collaborative effort between Magpul PTS and Mad Rabbit Studio, a Taiwan based creative design house. The four CIBoys are inspired by Magpul Industries and as such feature the Magpul logo somewhere on their design. No word on pricing and availability at the moment. Also, I’ll be damned if Pink Fluffy Bunny doesn’t look like an unholy union of Frank the Bunny from Donnie Darko and the Trollface of internet fame, but with a red suit.

Victor Lee VL-03B Fantasy Folding Knife
Sunday, September 2nd, 2012This impressive bladed implement the Victor Lee VL-03B Fantasy Folding Knife. It features three 3″ curved black stainless steel blades that can fold into the knife body. The handle is anodized aluminum and has a belt clip. It kind of reminds me of the Glaive, minus two blades, of course; based on some reviews I’ve read I also wouldn’t suggest throwing it.
You can get it off Amazon.
Drones+ Rejected By Apple For App Store
Saturday, September 1st, 2012
Drones+ iPhone App from Josh Begley on Vimeo.
Drones+ is an app designed by Josh Begley that has a simple premise: actively mark (via a ‘pushpin’) on a map the locations and other data on/facts about U.S. drone strikes. The information that’s used is already compiled by and pulled from the U.K.’s Bureau of Investigative Journalism. However, Apple’s review team has denied the app availability on the app store not once, but three times. The reasons given included: “The features and/or content of your app were not useful or entertaining enough… or your app did not appeal to a broad enough audience.”. Later, an additional attempt yielded this response: “We found that your app contains content that many audiences would find objectionable, which is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines”. While I don’t have any opinion on whether the app’s rejection is a good or bad thing, it seems pretty clear that Apple feels this app may incite controversy with some groups and is trying to avoid any potential issues.

Thursday, August 30th, 2012This testing video for Italian company B-Max’s Level III armored plate is pretty standard, until you notice the testing overseer with an open shirt and later without the shirt and with a cigarette in his hand.

Tank Vest
Sunday, August 26th, 2012The Tank Vest is a modular, PALS webbing based storage system that allows users to attach MOLLE and ALLICE gear to their motorcycle to improve storage capacity. Tank Vests are made from 1000 denier Cordura nylon and uses a system of military grade straps and synthetic buckles to attach to the tank frame. This separates the Tank Vest from other storage options that use magnets or require drilling into the bike’s frame. A feature also unique to the Tank Vest is it fits around the gas cap, negating the need to remove the vest during refueling. Currently, Tank Vests are being made for Kawasaki KLR650, KTM950/990 Adventure motorcycles, some models of Harley Davidson, the XR650R, and the Boulevard 800, with a vest for the Vstrom 1000 coming out mid-September; more models are being made based on customer demand.
The Tank Vest is available in the following colors: Black, Coyote Brown, Woodland MARPAT, ACU, MultiCam, OD Green, and Safety Orange.

RC S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier
Friday, August 24th, 2012It seems when the Russians stole the plans for S.H.I.E.L.D.’s helicarrier, they drastically misinterpreted the proper dimensions when building their own version.

Crowd Gets Surprised During Tank Show
Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012I suppose the most important lesson the crowd learned that day was to avoid standing near large puddles when multi-ton war machines are on the prowl.

UNCHARTED 3: Nathan Drake Inspired Gun Holster
Monday, August 20th, 2012Master leathersmith David Vigil has crafted this impressive gun holster for Vigilante Leather, inspired by the one used by Nathan Drake in the PS3-exclusive ‘Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception’. The design closely matches the in-game model in both metalwork and the dye job used to treat the leather; a model dyed in black with gunmetal-colored metalwork is also available upon request. 8 buckles, 2 to each strap, allow for easy fitting, with an option for custom fitting if required. Additionally, every holster is waterproofed and stress tested, insuring full functionality in any situation. Simply put, it’s a piece that’s usable for way more than just cosplay.

The Last Stand – Trailer
Saturday, August 18th, 2012Arnold’s back in 2013! Well, he’s in the Expendables 2, but that’s like the supergroup of action movies, and this is more akin to a revival solo act. Anyway, Arnold plays a small town Sherrif brought in to terminate (I couldn’t resist) a notorious cartel that’s overrun the local law enforcement. Looks like there’s also the obligatory hot action woman and a crazy prepared nutjob to help round out the cast; looks promising.
The Last Stand drops 2013.
NERF Shoot To Snooze Alarm Clock
Friday, August 17th, 2012Looking for a more practical application for all those NERF guns you obviously bought after reading about them on this site (besides nailing every living thing within your immediate area with foam darts on a regular basis)? Then you have the option of picking up a NERF Shoot to Snooze alarm clock. One well placed shot to the target area is the only way to activate the clock’s snooze function, giving any foam dart marksman a few more minutes of rest. Other features include: LCD screen with backlight, nightlight, and 12/24 hour functionality, and date and temperature display.
Batman: Puppet Master
Thursday, August 16th, 2012Batman: Puppet Master is a fan film depicting events that occur between ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. The short film introduces classic villains Mr. Zazas, The Ventriloquist and Scarface, and Edward Nigma, AKA The Riddler, who’s been reimagined as an FBI agent brought in to capture Batman. It has a few elements of the Knightfall storyline, primarily die to Nigma’s plan to wear out Batman with a crime wave before trying to unmask his identity. Not everyone about the casting and writing is perfect, primarily Batman, but it’s a great idea that’s full of potential. I’d love to see the story progress through additional films.
Internet Movie Firearm Database
Wednesday, August 15th, 2012I’m sure you know about the Internet Movie Database, or imdb.com, another one of those internet time sinks that has information on almost every movie ever along with almost every actor ever, the parts they’ve played, etc. Since this is the internet, where just about any damn thing can be found, and copycats are common, somebody made a similar site in the form of a Wiki, but with firearms as the primary focus instead of movies and actors, even calling it the internet movie firearm database. On the site, you can look up what movies, television shows, and video games a firearm has been in, what firearms a movie, television show, or video game has featured, and even what firearms and in what show/movie/video game an actor has used.
It’s pretty exhaustive, which makes games of 6-degrees-of-a-Beretta-92F all the easier to play.
