I didn’t think WETA could top their previous gift to the fine folks at Valve, a replica of the engineer’s turret from Team Fortress 2. Then, they sent a replica of the turret from Portal, and I was proven wrong. Features motion tracking, deployable guns, and in-game sound effects and voice clips.

UNCHARTED 3: Nathan Drake Inspired Gun Holster
Monday, August 20th, 2012Master leathersmith David Vigil has crafted this impressive gun holster for Vigilante Leather, inspired by the one used by Nathan Drake in the PS3-exclusive ‘Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception’. The design closely matches the in-game model in both metalwork and the dye job used to treat the leather; a model dyed in black with gunmetal-colored metalwork is also available upon request. 8 buckles, 2 to each strap, allow for easy fitting, with an option for custom fitting if required. Additionally, every holster is waterproofed and stress tested, insuring full functionality in any situation. Simply put, it’s a piece that’s usable for way more than just cosplay.
Available in limited quantities from David Vigil on Etsy.
Internet Movie Firearm Database
Wednesday, August 15th, 2012I’m sure you know about the Internet Movie Database, or imdb.com, another one of those internet time sinks that has information on almost every movie ever along with almost every actor ever, the parts they’ve played, etc. Since this is the internet, where just about any damn thing can be found, and copycats are common, somebody made a similar site in the form of a Wiki, but with firearms as the primary focus instead of movies and actors, even calling it the internet movie firearm database. On the site, you can look up what movies, television shows, and video games a firearm has been in, what firearms a movie, television show, or video game has featured, and even what firearms and in what show/movie/video game an actor has used.
It’s pretty exhaustive, which makes games of 6-degrees-of-a-Beretta-92F all the easier to play.

Black Ops II Multiplayer Reveal Trailer
Tuesday, August 7th, 2012Man, this trailer is showing the best multiplayer for CoD yet!
That’s also the same thing I said when I saw the previous multiplayer trailers for every Call of Duty since Modern Warfare 2. Granted, it does look amazing (that’s what trailers are for, after all), and the graphics are looking pretty spiffy, but I already know I’ll like the game for roughly a month, then only jump on it occasionally until the next CoD is announced and released. It’s a vicious cycle, I know. Then again, future weapons and killstreaks and a reworked create-a-class system could prove me wrong.
Black Ops II drops November 13, 2012.
Nintendo Zapper Kydex Holster
Friday, August 3rd, 2012This project by ‘A.F. 275 – Gun & Gear Blog’ is clearly the coolest non-licensed Nintendo accessory ever, a Kydex holster for the old-school Nintendo Zapper accessory. Stylish and quick on the draw to boot! Too bad it doesn’t give you the ability to shoot that damn taunting dog (in the Nintendo version, at least; at the arcade, however…).
Check ’em out on Facebook.
Thanks to Dnine for the tip.

Expendables 2 Video Game
Thursday, July 12th, 2012As far as a mindless action video game based on a mindless action movie this one actually looks pretty decent, and it’s a downloadable title which means it’ll be pretty cheap to boot.
The Expendables 2 Video Game drops July 31st (PSN), August 17 (Xbox Live and PC).
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 – Villain Trailer
Tuesday, July 10th, 2012So, David S. Goyer wrote the story and Trent Reznor did the music for Black Ops 2, huh? That’s pretty exciting news! Oh, there’s also some cinematic shots and explosions and future technology and whatnot.
Call of Duty 2 drops November 13th, 2012.
Assassin’s Creed Replica Hidden Blade Vambrace
Friday, July 6th, 2012NECA is releasing a replica of the hidden blade as used by Ezio Auditore da Firenze in the Assassin’s Creed series of video games. Made of PVC and ABS plastics, it’s highly detailed with a surprisingly quick spring loaded action that launches the roughly 15″ plastic blade with the push of a button; a safety lock mechanism helps to prevent any unwarranted deployments of said blade. An adjustable buckle and Velcro straps keep the replica secure on the user’s wrist. It’s available exclusively through GameStop and will be released October 30th of this year. There’s also a video the pre-order site, so you can see it in action.
LEGO Portal Set
Wednesday, July 4th, 2012Tactical Fanboy loves the video games of Valve. So, when the chance to have a LEGO set, or three, made that’s based on the brilliant and justifiably popular ‘Portal’ series of games, we’re totally behind the effort. Using LEGO CUUSOO, where an idea and 10,000 supporters can turn almost any project into an official LEGO set (with 1% of net profits going to the creators), Brickthing has introduced 3 unique designs for LEGO sets based on ‘Portal’: GLaDOS’ Chamber, Modular Testing Chamber, and Portal Puzzle Board Game. The project’s only about 3,000 votes away from becoming reality, so chances are good it’ll be made. This is great news, considering that we already bought the Minecraft set created as a result of CUUSOO.

Ground Branch On Kickstarter
Monday, June 11th, 2012First off, us here at TFB would like to say that our experience with the recently released ‘Ghost Recon: Future Soldier’ has been highly positive (the occasional laggy online experience including the “questionable tactics” of random players aside). However, it is lacking that certain… realism that older Red Storm Entertainment games like ‘Rainbow Six’ and the original ‘Ghost Recon’ had. John Sonedecker, former member of Red Storm Entertainment, and his game development studio BlackFoot Studios are hoping to let players relive the days without regenerating health bars and XP-based progression systems with their game ‘Ground Branch’.
You can see full details at their Kickstarter page, where you can also donate a bit of cash to help this game come to life. They’ve still got $390,000 with only 25 days left to go, so spreading the word is also highly appreciated.
E3 2012 – Medal of Honor: Warfighter Multiplayer Trailer
Tuesday, June 5th, 2012E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, starts today, and with that comes the obligatory rush of awesome video game trailers, including this one featuring multiplayer gameplay for Medal of Honor: Warfighter:
Linkin Park aside, the trailer is amazing and showcases multiplayer that’s leaps and bounds over that featured in 2010’s Medal of Honor. Plus, there’s plenty of Special Forces from every corner of the globe to play as, and if the trailer is any indication that also means faction-specific weaponry and equipment.
Medal of Honor: Warfighter drops October 23, 2012.
Aliens: Colonial Marines Release Date Trailer
Sunday, May 27th, 2012Why does February 23, 2013 have to be so far away? Oh well, at least Prometheus will be in theaters next month.
A little more pre-review of Warfighter
Saturday, May 26th, 2012Danger Close, the studio behind the yet-to-be-released Medal of Honor Warfighter, is not out to replicate the reality of combat for a Special Forces Operator but they are giving it a hell of a shot by teaming up with Special Operations veterans that have fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. Veterans like Tyler, a former SF Soldier with multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan who retired after being wounded in 2007. The studio won’t even release his last name in fear of compromising his identity. Tyler, along with a small team of veterans, is working behind the scenes with the developers to make this outing in the Medal of Honor series as authentic as possible for a game. When the developers want to know how to do a tactical reload, breach a door, or conduct a smooth weapons transition they ask Tyler and his team to demonstrate so that the designers can replicate it in the game. This striving for authenticity is a good thing in my eyes and it lends legitimacy to the game that others in the genre sorely lack. Asking for and seeking out the input and advice of combat veterans on a game that takes place on the modern battlefields that quite likely many of the game’s players fought on tells me that the developers actually care about the large community of game playing veterans. Keep it up, Danger Close. Medal of Honor Warfighter isn’t scheduled to be released 23 October but you can pre-order it now on the game site.

BREAKING NEWS! CoD Blacks Ops 2 and Warfighter ads…
Friday, May 18th, 2012This just came across the transom at the Tactical Fanboy breaking news desk. EA and Activision, the developers of Medal of Honor Warfighter and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 have confirmed that two new trailers will air Saturday, 19 May during the Champions League final.
The two games will go head to head with EA buying air time to offer viewers a first look at Medal of Honor Warfighter due to be released later this year. No details are given at this time, or at least none that I can find. Activision has announced that the spot for Black Ops 2 will be shown during the games halftime interval and show off new facets of the newest addition to the Call of Duty franchise. What that will entail is anybody’s guess. Probably more cinematics from the game, but maybe, if we’re lucky, a peek at the multiplayer aspect of the game. Who knows? Turn in and find out.
Speaking of CoD 2, have you read about this professor who got his panties in a twist over it? Relax, professor, it’s just a game.
Now back to your regularly scheduled posts.

Black Ops 2 Interactive Trailer
Thursday, May 17th, 2012The history of warfare has been one of innovation, trying to keep one or two steps ahead of your enemy in weapons and technology; anything to give your side the edge on the battlefield. The 20th Century alone saw dramatic leaps in war fighting technology, from the individual riflemen to nuclear weapons. What does the future have in store for the battlefields of the 21st Century? Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 explores just that with a six part mini documentary embedded in the reveal trailer. At any point in the trailer you can stop the action and have future war expert and author of Wired for War, P.W. Singer discuss the progression of technology in warfare, its uses, and what happens when the smart weapons a nation uses malfunction or –even worse- are hacked and turned against their former masters. Lt Col Oliver North USMC Ret and Major Alex Brown, U.S. Army Special Forces, weigh in with the current level of battlefield tech, its uses and capabilities. It’s really an innovative and interesting way to learn what the near future holds, not only for warfare but society in general.
Check out the interactive trailer here.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 hits 13 Nov 2012.

Charlene: CoD Black Ops 2 and PSF Russia
Tuesday, May 15th, 2012I’m a fan of the Call of Duty franchise of games and of FPS Russia, the guy on You Tube with the fake Russian accent and all those wonderful toys, to quote The Joker from 1989s Batman. Recently I was watching one of FPS Russia’s recent videos on an armed RPV quadrotor named ‘Charlene’ when I had an ‘ah ha’ moment realizing where I had just seen another armed RPV quarotor with the name ‘Charlene’ scratched into it. Anyone else think we might hear someone sounding a lot like FPS Russia in Black Ops 2?
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is slated for release on 13 Nov 2012.
