Combat Kitchenware On Kickstarter

Wednesday, November 21st, 2012

This is the Fighting Man’s Frying Pan, a creation of Morlock Enterprises currently undergoing funding on Kickstarter, and a regular frying pan transformed into a cooking implement of awesomeness via the sword hilt that conveniently replaces the run-of-the-mill handle. The handle is custom milled and cast from aluminum and combined with a silicone wrap, giving it a sturdy, well insulated property. To be made in the USA.

Morrison Industries, LTD – Training: Weeks 1 & 2

Monday, November 19th, 2012

Weeks one and two of my internship with Morrison Industries focused almost exclusively on introduction and preparation, most importantly undoing years of bad posture and technique. After an initial mobility assessment, this was accomplished through morning sessions of joint mobility drills, stretching, and squats, coupled with long walks or trips to the gym. Proper technique for exercises including deadlift, one and two-handed kettlebell swing, overhead press, Turkish getup, and different squat patterns and techniques were introduced. Additionally, I had some chiropractic and soft tissue work done, which helped to straighten my posture and improve my overall movement.

Other notable skills, techniques, or information I learned include proper breathing techniques, lateral, forward, and backward rolling, using foam rollers, physical culture history, Flowfit and sitting in seiza. I, of course, am still improving upon much of this, while still being introduced to further knowledge.

The Ultimate Survival Gun?

Friday, November 16th, 2012

This is an attempt by ‘Petersen’s Hunting’, a hunting publication based under Intermedia Outdoors, to create the ultimate, most versatile survival firearm possible. They started with a Stoeger’s Double Defense as a base, then added modifications which include: drilled holes in the stock to accommodate spare gun parts, accessories, and chamber inserts for the use of multiple shotshells and calibers of amunition, inserting a compass into the stock, a fire steel inlaid into the forearm, a micro tool held in the forend with a magnet, replacement iron sights, a laser/light combo, red dot sight, and stock mounted cartridge sling and cheek pad/pouch.

Giant Plastic Green Army Man

Thursday, November 15th, 2012

This giant-sized Green Army Man is made from cold-cast resin and stands at one-and-a-half feet tall. Seam lines and injection mold rings were added to the figure to stay true to the appearance of the original plastic Army Men, although additional details such as buttons, shoelaces, hair, and a USA insignia were also added. A great nostalgia piece.

A-TACS In Black Ops II

Tuesday, November 13th, 2012

Digital Concealment Systems, creator of the A-TACS family of camouflage patterns have signed a deal with Activision that includes the use of said camo patterns, currently A-TACS AU and A-TACS FG, in the just-released-today Call of Duty: Black Ops II. A-TACS is present in Black Ops II in the form of “…a playable option and integrated throughout different levels of the epic game.” This is most apparent in its use as an in-game gun camouflage.

Fallout 3 Terrible Shotgun Replica

Friday, November 9th, 2012

This incredibly detailed replica of the Terrible Shotgun, a unique, higher damage variant of the in-game combat shotgun, from Fallout 3 features a rear stock and forward grip cut from red oak. The barrel, heat shield, aluminum, trigger mechanism, sights, and forward pump piston are all constructed from aluminum. The right side cocking lever and trigger are both spring loaded, and the two included drum magazines are built to lock in place with magnetic catches to simulate on-screen reloads for the replica’s use in the web series ‘Fallout: Nuka Break‘. The Terrible Shotgun replica is the work of Volpin Props.

Action Figure Therapy Animated (NSFW!!!)

Thursday, November 8th, 2012

Still funny, but kinda defeats the purpose of ‘”Action Figure” Therapy’. Still, it’s always nice to see some change, and of course there’s no indication that the series will go this route; seems more like a one-off thing.

Tactical Walls

Wednesday, November 7th, 2012

Tactical Walls are a great option for discreet and secure storage of your firearms and accessories. Tactical Walls install directly in the wall where they can easily be secured behind picture frames, mirrors, or in the back of a closet, and are optimized for installation with standard pine 2×4 construction which is framed 16 inches on center. They currently come in two sizes, the 1410, meant for handguns and other small accessories, and the 1440 (seen above), meant for rifles and shotguns and accompanying accessories. Both models are constructed from durable ABS plastic with foam rubber pads.

Here’s A Bit Of Footage from The Upcoming ‘World War Z’ Movie

Tuesday, November 6th, 2012

Hooray! Hollywood is completely missing the point of the book being an account of a world recovering from a massive zombie war as told from the perspective of multiple people. Instead, they’ve turned it into a generic modern zombie flick with a god-like-solve-all-problems solo protagonist in Brad Pitt! I’m totally sure it’s a way better story.

Morrison Industries, LTD – Training: Week 0

Monday, November 5th, 2012

Last Thursday, I braved two plane rides, a 3-and-a-half-hour layover in Atlanta, and two time zone changes to intern with Nathaniel Morrison of Morrison Industries, LTD for the next few months. The past few days has served as a sort of introduction/area familiarization along with some initial number crunching and testing to determine exactly where I am physically in addition to my medical history, dietary concerns, etc. The highlight of those days was definitely the trip up to Pike’s Peak. I got some great photos. I also suffered a bit of hypoxia on the summit, which was easily cured with some carbs and a steady decrease in elevation. In any event, the real training starts today, so expect a full report next Monday, along with more photos.

Darth Vader Touring His New Home

Thursday, November 1st, 2012

In (the unlikely event) you missed the news, Disney purchased LucasFilms and most, if not all, of its assets for 4 billion dollars. I wonder if we’ll finally see a blu-ray release of the original, unaltered trilogy now that Lucas and his “vision” isn’t holding it back. I also request a version of ‘Crystal Skull’ with all scenes featuring Shia LeBeouf either altered or completely removed.

Laser Cut Dollar Snubnosed .38 Revolver

Tuesday, October 30th, 2012

This is part of a collection of laser cut sculptures made from US currency by Brooklyn-based artist Scott Campbell. Although the rest of the collection seems to be missing any additional firearms-based imagery, there’s plenty of kick-ass skulls, bones, and reapers that more than make up for it.

Cardboard M4 Carbine

Monday, October 29th, 2012

While not the most accurate model of an M4 Carbine ever made out of cardboard, this rendition with a telescoping stock, removable magazine, and flat top rail with fixed front sight shows effort and ingenuity.
