This amazingly detailed drawing of a man aiming an M14 M1A/SOCOM II is titled ‘Shooter’, and it’s done entirely in pencil. In fact, the detail is so great, one could almost assume it was a black and white photograph. The artist is Renee Alane, and more of her fantastic work can be found on the Facebook page RM Pencil Drawings.

Action Figure Therapy – Slightly NSFW
Friday, April 22nd, 2011Move over Robot Chicken, Youtuber actionfiguretherapy has definitely raised the bar for toy-based hilarity. In this series, G.I. Joe knockoff Jungle Recon (and the occasional friend) answers those questions we’re all dying to know, like how a mustache helps in combat. These questions are answered through a combination of pure hilarity, crass language, and Magnum P.I. references. Also, this vid is a little on the NSFW side, although they can get a lot more rude (not to mention even more hilarious).
Thanks to reader Nathan for pointing out this amazing series to me.
Archer Season Finale – NSFW
Thursday, April 21st, 2011Just a reminder than the season finale of Archer premiers tonight on FX at 10 PM, Eastern. If you haven’t been watching this show, you’ve been missing the best, if highly vulgar, animated spy comedy of all time. In other words: it’s mandatory viewing. Also, a brand new Duke Nukem Forever trailer will be premiering on TV, because who else but Duke could pair so well with Archer?
This is the uncensored version of the trailer, btw.
BAE Systems M777 Field Howizer In LEGO
Thursday, April 21st, 2011Have you ever wanted to see a highly detailed model of the BAE Systems M777 Field Howizer, in LEGO form? If so, then your dreams have come true. It was a model created by flickr user Colonel Henry for the Lego Marines Corps crewed weapons contest. In addition to the Howizer itself, and the environment it’s in, there’s also a full crew to man it. Pretty damn cool, if you ask me.
Battleship Shoes
Thursday, April 21st, 2011Artist Phill Noto created these sneakers for an art show at Bold Hype Gallery. Personally, I don’t think many people could pull these off. Maybe with NWU pattern camo…
Transforming Home
Wednesday, April 20th, 2011What seems to be a mild-mannered concrete block is actually…
A super home! Fighting for truth, justice, and the American way!
Well, not really. Instead, it’s The Safe House. Designed by architecture firm KWK Promes, this 6,100 sq. ft. fortress is designed with no safety feature left unimplemented. A series of security codes are required just for entry, which leads to the ‘safety zone’, an area surrounded by concrete walls. As the home opens, a drawbridge lowers connecting it to an indoor swimming pool while walls and shutters open, and a rolling aluminum gate opens to an expansive garden view.
No word on pricing, or if its even available for purchase, but if I got a hold of that property, I’d paint ‘BAT CAVE’ in big, sloppy letters on the side, and hide a bunch of cool, million-dollar gadgets inside.
Thanks to Scottsdale Gun Club. You can see more on the home here.
CoD: Black Ops Escalation Preview
Tuesday, April 19th, 2011Here’s a preview of the second Black Ops map pack, titled ‘Escalation’. Once again, they screw us on any footage from the zombies map. Doesn’t Treyarch know the only real reason people buy these packs is for that very purpose? In any event, the maps do look pretty cool, although they continue to do that whole alternate-history thing with some of the maps, like convoy, which features an American convoy in the States that was ambushed by Soviet forces. I can’t decide if that really makes any sense, even taking into account the game’s fiction.
Escalation comes out May 3rd, exclusively [for a period] for Xbox Live. The PS3 will most likely follow one month later, followed by who-knows-when for the PC. Wii owners are, as always, completely shafted.
Iranian Wookiee Army
Monday, April 18th, 2011Did the world-wide Star Wars fan club finally form its own army? Survey says: no. Instead, this display of gillie suits is in celebration of Iran’s annual Army Day, where Iranian soldiers of every branch march to display their military “might”, whether that be with flowers in their guns, or as a parade of furries.

Tactical Wifi Cantenna
Monday, April 18th, 2011The folks over at hackaday.com built this sporty looking cantenna with parts from a broken airsoft pistol. Although I cringe at calling anything tactical simply due to its color configuration (it is black), this is still a pretty neat project. However, I don’t think it needs picatinny rails.
The page link also includes a tutorial to make your own, so go nuts.
SPECOPS Combat Shirt Project
Sunday, April 17th, 2011This combat shirt project by Foki is arguably too cool to be practical. And maybe that’s the whole point. But then again, I’m up for almost anything in MultiCam, especially any new combat shirts. Never been sure what those downward hanging belt sashes are, though. Anyone got a name for me?
You can check out the rest of the photos on SPECOPS’ Facebook page.
Sarif Industries TV Spot
Saturday, April 16th, 2011I’ve always wanted bio-mechanical upgrades. Who doesn’t want legs that let you run 50 mph or an arm that can punch through a tank? Of course this commercial only shows civilian applications for augmentation, but it’s pretty obvious what you can really do with this kind of tech. Gun-arm, anyone?
For those of you not in the know, this is a commercial for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Sadly, it ain’t real.
The Weaponry Of Rage
Friday, April 15th, 2011Rage is a game that takes place in a post-apocalyptic Earth, so of course the weaponry would be a mix of the familiar and the strange. You’ve got your standard rifles, smgs, pistols, and shotguns, but also futuristic crossbows, automated turrets, and the wingstick, a large three-bladed throwing weapon.
Also, props to including the AK-47 as the “Settler Machine Gun”. If any weapon would survive an earth shattering catastrophe it would have to be the AK.
Rage comes out September 13, 2011 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
New Balance US574
Thursday, April 14th, 2011Do you like New Balance running shoes, but never really found a pair quite to your liking, style wise? Luckily, New Balance now offers a full customizable version of their 574 running shoe via their website. Simply go through the options of the base, upper, heel, and accents to alter each individual part of the 574 color-wise. The viewer alters the shoe model in real-time, so you can see what your changes would look like on the final product. Plus, you can personalize your shoe with special embroidery on the heel, up to eight characters. Finally, each custom pair is made in the good old U.S.A.
Finally, I can have those deep red kicks that I’ve always wanted!:

Flip Cam, We Hardly Knew Ye
Wednesday, April 13th, 2011Cisco has decided to stop producing the Flip, the oh so useful little video camera with which you could easily upload that once-in-a-lifetime footage you just happened to capture to Facebook and Youtube. It’s all those damn smartphones fault! What with their more powerful cameras and instantaneous access to the internet in addition to being phones… what was so great about the Flip again? On the plus side, I’m sure they’ll be cheaper to pick up soon, so that’s something.
Bremach T-Rex
Wednesday, April 13th, 2011Each T-Rex is hand-assembled to meet the buyers exact specifications. It can be powered from one of three chosen fuel types: gasoline, natural gas, and electric, with a hybrid option also available. The cab is all steel and is available in two configurations, single and double cab, fitting 3 and 5 individuals respectively. It’s also designed to carry upward to a 4 ton payload. So in other words: Cool truck, bro.

Journalist’s Guide To Firearms Identification
Tuesday, April 12th, 2011Suppressors Legal In Washington
Tuesday, April 12th, 2011The Governor of Washington State, Chris Gregoire, signed HB 1016 into law just yesterday. This effectively allows gun owners to both own and use suppressors with their firearms. While suppressors weren’t illegal to own in Washington State before the bill was passed, using them with a firearm was considered a gross misdemeanor crime. Now, its just as legal to shoot using a suppressor within the state line as it is to own one. The bill will take effect 90 days after adjournment.
Wow, allowing someone to own a suppressor, but not to shoot with it within the same state? Why did it take this long for this bill to exist? Still, better late than never.

Escalation Officially Announced
Monday, April 11th, 2011Callofduty.com has officially announced the second content pack for Black Ops. Titled Escalation, it features four new MP maps and an “epic” zombie map. Not that I didn’t already post this, but now instead of being leaked info, it’s official.
No pricing, but it’ll most likely be $15, because Activision knows they can get away with that price. And they’re right: I’ve been bored with Black Ops for ages now, alternating back to CoD4 and MW2 instead, and I’ll still buy this pack; it’s all about the zombies. Black Ops Content Pack 2 ‘Escalation’ comes out May 3rd, exclusively for Xbox Live. It’ll probably be out a month later on Playstation Network, followed by taking forever to appear on the PC.
Terminator The Second
Monday, April 11th, 2011
Terminator 2, but in the words of William Shakespeare? Yes please, this needs to happen now! And the best part is you can help. The project is hosted on Kickstarter.com, where creative projects like this find funding from anyone willing to back them. Terminator The Second only needs $76 at the time of writing, with 19 whole days to go, so go ahead and donate a dollar or five here, if only so awesomeness like this becomes a reality.
Freddie: Real Life Camper
Sunday, April 10th, 2011Explosions via claymores, stunt jumps by members of Action Factory, airsoft weaponry made real, with a nice splash of Adobe After Effects to tie it all together. Classic freddiew. I like how he whistles the Metal Gear theme just before the action starts. Nice touch.
Brink: Ready And Able
Saturday, April 9th, 2011This game isn’t getting nearly enough attention: high customization, parkour, team based multiplayer, beautiful graphics. It’s been described as a cross between Team Fortress 2 and Mirrors Edge. I totally agree with that, except for one thing extra: MOLOTOV COCKTAILS!
Brink comes out on May 17, 2010.
Hardcore Hardware Australia
Friday, April 8th, 2011From a land down under comes Hardcore Hardware’s new Tomahawk. Crafted from coated D2 tool steel, the handle is wrapped in 550 cord and comes with a nylon MOLLE compatible sheath. This is brand new on the market and looks to be built with a severe dosage of arse-kickery involved.

Conflict History
Friday, April 8th, 2011“Browse the timeline of war and conflict across the globe.”
This modification of Google maps depicts major and minor battles from thousands of years in the past to the most recent as red dots in their general location. Although not every single conflict ever is recorded (the earliest records start around 3000 BC) it does a pretty good job of getting some of the more obscure events in the history of warfare. Just drag the slider and see what occurred during the approximately 20 year period highlighted.

KSG In Action – Nutnfancy
Thursday, April 7th, 2011Here’s some footage of the Kel-Tec KSG in action in the “Eat Lead” course by Nutnfancy. To be specific, it’s a video demonstrating the strengths and weaknesses of the system, how it compares to a Winchester 1300 running the same course, and some pistol shooting thrown in for good measure. Also, the video’s pretty damn long, a little over 45 minutes, so only those with an abnormally large attention span will be able to sit through the whole thing without skipping around.
