‘A’ and ‘B’ are the clear choices. Just don’t feel obligated to wield those Berettas akimbo.

Thursday, September 29th, 2011“Son Of A Gun” Watch
Tuesday, September 27th, 2011It just so happens that a large number of high-end watch collectors also love firearms. To celebrate this trend, Yvan Arpa for ArtyA introduced the first in a collection of firearms inspired time pieces, the “Son of a Gun” watch. Within a Stainless steel grade 316 case is the bezel and inner dial which looks like a target sight while the body contains six actual 6mm Flobert bullets wrapped in copper wire. Three .38 Special cartridges comprise part of the back plate. The watch also features ballistic style straps and is water resistant up to 50 meters. No word on pricing, but something this stylized can’t run cheap.

Raw Meat Guns – NSFW-ish
Tuesday, September 13th, 2011A little old, but still disturbingly interesting, this is one of many raw meat guns created by Artist Dimitri Tsykalov. He claims his art represents the simplicity and brutality of the gun. I claim it could use a bit more time on the grill. Whatever the case, he also happened to pose some of his creations with virtually naked women, so if raw meat shaped into firearms paired with nudity’s your kind of thing, Google is your friend.

Glock 17 Simulator
Sunday, September 4th, 2011Fewes on DeviantArt has created an impressive Glock 17 simulator made in Flash. Every function is accurate to real life, not counting the reduced magazine capacity (most likely intentional). For example, every slide pull ejects an unspent cartridge and a tactical reload accounts for the round already in the chamber. It’s better than most video games in that regard. Click the above image to try it out for yourself.
Now This Is How You Prove Your Product Works
Friday, September 2nd, 2011In this video, an employee of Texas Armoring Corporation (TAC) gets to practice shooting at as his boss, CEO Trent Kimball, with an AK-47, all to prove the integrity of their bullet-resistant glass. The multiple camera angles give it a nice, action movie-esque flair.
Hot Shots Calendar 2012 Behind the Scenes – NSFW
Friday, August 26th, 2011Enjoy this footage of a behind the scenes look for the Hot Shots Calendar 2012. Oh, and as the title points out, the video is basically NSFW: some salty language, firearms and a lot of half-nakedness is contained within.
The Hot Shots Calendar will be available September 1st, 2011. You can pre-order yours here. 50% of the proceeds is donated to UK based Help for Heroes.
M41A1 Pulse Rifle In LEGO
Friday, August 12th, 2011Combining two of my favorite things, the ‘Alien’ movie series and LEGOs, this M41A1 Pulse Rifle is damn cool looking. It features working triggers, cocking handle, pumping grip, and a removable magazine. It was created by Mr. Giovanni Tuzzi, who also made an incredibly detailed M14 model, among other LEGO firearms.

Battlefield 3: Weapons Customization
Thursday, July 28th, 2011The Battlefield series is finally getting on the customizable weapons bandwagon so prevalent in modern FPS’s (I’d say CoD 4 – onward has a huge part in this) with Battlefield 3. While it’s true that Bad Company 2 did introduce weapons optics and improved handling specializations, the selection was extremely limited when compared to similar games. Now, DICE has introduced a full range of attachments for your weaponry including optics, grips, and barrels, much like in the Medal of Honor reboot’s multiplayer, which they also designed. With this addition, Battlefield 3 is making even greater strides towards FPS of the Year, although as always there is some stiff competition to contend with.
Going The Extra Length For Your Cosplay At SDCC
Tuesday, July 26th, 2011Many people put a lot of time and dedication into making a kick-ass costume for the San Diego Comic Con, but is it possible that going that extra mile is actually going too far? Surprisingly, it can be, since on the very first day someone was caught using an actual AR-15 as a costume accessory. Although that’s fairly shocking news, I’m more interested in what costume the individual was wearing that they felt necessitated the use of a real firearm. My money’s on Rambo.
After the first day’s AR-15 incident, everything went smoothly. The second day, however, saw the confiscation of two machetes, a dagger, a KA-BAR knife and a lead pipe. Either they were dealing with some extremely dedicated cosplayers, or prevented the happenings of a Marvel vs. DC fan turf war. Maybe both.

Heckler & Koch .22 LR Guns
Tuesday, July 19th, 2011The MP5 and HK416 and their variants are among H&K’s most iconic firearms, and through UmarexUSA you can own semi-auto replicas chambered for .22 LR. But don’t let the reduced caliber fool you. Thanks to dedicated engineering, high-quality parts and stringent German manufacturing at Carl Walther, each of these full-sized replicas operate exactly as their larger caliber cousins. Features include mach-grade barrels, metal receivers, accurate safety switches and fully-adjustable sights. High-strength polymer magazines are available in either 10 or 20(416)/25(MP5) round capacity and prices for the replicas run from roughly $450-550, depending on the model.
Loaded Objects Ceramics
Wednesday, July 6th, 2011These handmade slip-cast ceramic lamps feature detailed designs based on well-known firearms including the Beretta 92 pistol and AK-47 rifle. Each lamp is delivered with a fixture, shade, cord and plug, ready for immediate use. Also available from the creator are full-sized Mk 2 grenades made from porcelain with gold pull rings. They were originally created for use as pawns for chess set. I think I’m totally ignoring whatever message these pieces are meant to convey when I say how totally kick-ass it would be to have one of the AK lamps in my room.
Double-Barrel Quad Rail
Wednesday, June 29th, 2011If you’ve been pining for a 12-gauge ‘tactical’ double-barrel but aren’t in the market for a whole new shotgun, then you could always try the LaserLyte ADP-KZ Double Barrel Quad Rail. After installing this rail system, you gain access to four three-inch picatinny rails to attach your favorite lights, lasers, and other rail compatible items to your favorite break-action double-barrel scattergun. The rail comes in two pieces and is made from aircraft grade aluminum with a rubber covering inside the rail that protects your barrels from wear while six hex screws secure the system to the barrels. I’m sure someone’s overjoyed to see a product like this come out, but I’m not one of them.
Bioshock Infinite: Factions At War
Monday, June 20th, 2011Thank the powers that be! Games these days have had a severe lack of the C96 Mauser. Oh, and the rest of the game looks great as well. Between the crazy floating city, warring factions, ability-altering vigors and nostrums, and tears in the space-time continuum, Bioshock Infinite looks to be a rip-roaring good time when it finally comes out next year. The wait is almost unbearable (for the C96 clone, that is).
Interactive .50 Cal
Sunday, June 19th, 2011Youtuber ratedrr (Richard Ryan) has recently posted the Interactive .50 Cal series of videos. By clicking on the annotations in the video above, you’re taken to one of three different videos, two that feature the Barret M82 fired through different camera angles, and one that, well, I won’t spoil the surprise, but it does its best to smack some sense into all the 12-year-old CoD players of the world. Oh, and make your choice quickly. Richard may be putting on a brave face, but holding up a 40 pound rifle that way is far from an easy task.
Gun Safety Gone Wong
Wednesday, June 15th, 2011A fairly unorthodox PSA about practicing gun safety while filming anything for Youtube. I know it’s played for laughs, but I couldn’t help but cringe the whole time through. Also, a nice camo by Freddy Wong, if the title didn’t give it away.
GunSmith For Kinect
Monday, June 13th, 2011I covered GunSmith already from its appearance at the E3 Microsoft conference, but a quick reminder paired with the official announcement video couldn’t hurt. GunSmith still gives you total control over customizing every aspect of the weapons in your arsenal from the furniture to the internals using voice and movement commands. Various keywords act as shortcuts that allow you to skip directly to certain attachment options or even auto-create a firearm based on what your mission requirements are. There’s also an in-mode firing range where you can test your newly-constructed weapon, all controlled using the Kinect sensor. Although there’s no announcement on whether the Kinect sensor will have a purpose in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier outside GunSmith, this is a nice exclusive bonus for those with Xbox 360s.
Glock Gen 4 Design Meeting
Saturday, June 11th, 2011Even the most hardcore Glock fans have to admit the Gen 4 is… more than a little lacking. This video explains why. My favorite line: “No. The Austrians like physical punishment for any mistake with their grip.”
Ninja Glock
Friday, June 10th, 2011Presenting the Ninja Glock, which is about as deadly and multi-purpose as a Glock will ever get. It’s extremely concealable, comes with a hydration pack, a set of Nunchaku, hand grenades, a spare ninja hood, and a survival knife. The attached scope lets the user see into the future and the past and has a variable optic of three to seven miles while the LED halogen bulb features an output of one million lumens, making it brighter than the sun. A spare tool kit and replacement parts are included inside the infrared module, and the red laser button controls a typhoon you can unleash on your enemies. Include a 1000 round ‘clip’ and the Glock’s ability to successfully cycle all kinds of ammunition from wooden to atomic to solid plastic, and you come to a pretty obvious conclusion: the Ninja Glock is the future of sidearms everywhere.
I sure can’t wait to get my hands on one. 😉

Art of Innovation by Geliographic
Thursday, June 9th, 2011This is one of a series of Still Lifes by Moscow-based studio Geliographic, who does illustrations on demand. All intended messages about the prevalence of firearms in modern society, or other interpretation of your choice, notwithstanding, these are some very detailed and beautiful paintings. I think the time will be soon I’ll have to make a commission.
Kinect Gunsmith For Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier AKA Some Really Nice Gun Pr0n
Wednesday, June 8th, 2011In a surprising but completely pleasant turn of events, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is one of the few games I’ve seen so far that really makes good use of Microsoft’s Kinect peripheral for Xbox 360. To be specific, Future Soldier has a Gunsmith feature that fully interacts with Kinect, through both movement and voice commands. It allows you to completely customize any weapon in your arsenal from optics to the furniture to the internals to suit your in-game needs. Besides this, you can also actively test you combinations via a virtual firing range, using motion controls to move your character and fire your weapon. Come Future Soldier’s release, it looks like my Kinect sensor will finally have a purpose besides collecting dust.
MW3 Rant Time
Tuesday, June 7th, 2011Yes, we all knew this was coming.
It’s time to play a really great drinking game callled ‘Spot The Inaccuracies’! It’s quite simple really: watch the vid, and every time you spot something inaccurate (compared to reality) with this demo of MW3, take a shot of your favorite brain-killing alcohol! The best part is it doesn’t take the entire vid to get drunk off your ass, just every damn firearm featured. To be a bit easier on all those involved, let’s ignore how painfully unlikely a Russian invasion would be, and just stick with stuff like:
– Why is Delta doing this mission? An operation like this would most likely be handled by DEVGRU.
– Why are Delta operatives using the MP5? They stopped using that years ago! The HK416 called, it’s feeling unappreciated.
– Are those dummkopfs at Infinity Ward, and Sledgehammer Games, still calling the AKS-74U the AK-74U? The later doesn’t exist! It’s just one more letter, dammit! Fix that ****! Also, it’s a carbine, not an SMG, so take 2 shots.
– Speaking of which, why are the Russians using P90s?
– Whatever else you can find. Might be a wee bit inebriated by this point…
Basically, they crapped on the guns again. Big surprise. Even without a full weapons list I already have enough ammunition to complain until release day. Still, there’s a good 6 months or so before the game is released. Maybe we’ll see some unexpected changes, but I highly doubt it. I still be buying this game, though. For all its faults, MW3 looks like a decent source of mindless action.
Modern Warfare 3 drops November 8th, 2011 for all major consoles and PC.
AK-47 Guitar
Monday, June 6th, 2011Cesar Lopez sure plays a mean Kalashnikov. I wonder what it would cost to have one of these made? I’m not a very good guitar player, but it would make for an excellent conversation starter.
