With its mix of olive drab, coyote and khaki coloring, the G-Shock Military Play Set LE Watch looks very much like a tactical watch, and its ruggedness and large volume of features help to further this claim. The Military Play G-Shock is shock resistant, water resistant up to 200M, features a high-intensity LED and a large digital display area. Its powered by a CR2025 battery with an approximate life of 7 years. It can be programed to display up to four different cities’ times, from a list of 48 cities spanning 31 time zones, with city code display and full DST support. Additionally, this watch also features 5 independent alarms, a stopwatch that measures down to 1/100th of a second, a countdown timer that measures down to 1/10th of a second, and a full auto calender (pre-programmed until the year 2099). Of course, it can also display local time in either a 12 or 24 hour format that is accurate to within +/- 15 seconds per month.
And before you ask, yes. You also get the cool G-Shock action figure as part of the package.
The Pomson 6000 Sub Atomic Wave Gun is yet another wonderful addition to the line of Dr. Grordbort’s Infallible Aether Oscillators courtesy of the fine, creative minds at Weta. If features a urethane resin and metal construction, articulated triggers, levers and switches, a custom built stand, certificate of authenticity and a limited edition art print, provided you’re the possessor of one of the first nine Pomsons. There’s just one problem: it’s freaking expensive! The Wave Gun is neat, and the available colors are pretty spiffy, but it takes a Hell of a lot of neat-n-spiffy to justify spending thousands of dollars on a non-functioning firearm, especially a fictional one. However, if you happen to be a model wave gun enthusiast, have the cash, and don’t mind plunking down a $1000 non-refundable deposit, then the Pomson 6000 can be yours for the low, low price of $4000-7000. If I had that kind of scratch lying around, I’d spend it on real firearms, but that’s just me.
Dragon Models Limited, a popular Chinese toy company, is offering a 1/144 scale model of the stealth helicopter used in the raid on UBL’s compound. Highly detailed with distinct edges and angles and a modified fuselage, nose and tail, each set come with two helicopters, allowing modelers to recreate the raid themselves. No word on whether the Chinese government was using these models as the basis of their own soon-to-be-announced stealth helicopter program, but I wouldn’t find that the least bit surprising. It’ll be available in the States this July.
If you’re looking for something other than your standard Super Soaker for hydro-based Summer fun, then look no further than the Xploderz series of toys. Instead of a stream of water, Xploderz fire ‘H2Grow technology’ gel pellets, which also make an excellent alternative to potentially harmful paintballs. Depending on the model, these pellets can be fired up to 85 feet from a 50 round top-loading ‘Ammo Clip’. If you like to keep extra pellets in reserve, the ammo depot accessory allows you to make and hold up to 500 rounds. Currently, four Xploderz guns are available: XBlaster 200, Face Off 400, XStormer 1000 (seen above), and XRanger 2000.

Backyard Safari Camouflage is effective scrim covering from a surprising source, a collection of outdoor gear and toys meant for use with children. Available in two seasonal colors, this scrim is 5×8 feet with a unique, stretchable die-cut design. It’s made from sturdy rip-stop nylon and stands up to wet weather. Great for use as a tent cover, sun shade, blind, or for building a shelter, along with its obvious use as environmental camouflage. It’s pretty cool to see playthings with more practical applications.
Juan Pablo Lasa developed this concept art for binoculars that transform into a robot ala Transformers. I could totally see this guy fitting in with the old 80’s cartoon, probably as a Decepticon. After all, Megatron transformed into a pistol and Soundwave turned into a microcassette recorder.
This replica of the Retro Lancer from Gears of War 3 was modeled from actual 3D data used in the creation of the game. It’s 3 1/2 feet long, and features a machine gun sound effect with a pull of the trigger. Each Retro Lancer is hand painted with weathered and battle worn detail. The Retro Lancer replica will be available stand alone on September 13th, or with any of threeGameStopbundles.
Duke Nukem, the ultimate alien ass-kicker, is back and this time in toy form! Roughly 7″ tall and featuring over 20 points of articulation, he comes equipped to fight the extraterrestrial menace with his gold-plated 1911 and a cigar. These figures are made by NECA, so it’s easy to assume they’re pretty high quality, especially compared to the horrible ReSaurus Duke figures made in ’97; Duke’s legs broke way too easily.
This is a custom made LEGO accessory of the De Lisle carbine, a British weapon that saw limited use in WWII due to very low production numbers, best known for its extremely effective, yet very large, suppressor. It was made by JONATHAN ELDRIDGE, a user on MOCpages.
Ryan Palser, CitizenSnips on Flickr, built this replica of the turret from the first Portal with a real working laser. Sadly, it doesn’t track targets nor ‘dispense product’ in the form of hilarious spoken lines, but it’s still incredibly impressive. Also worth mentioning is his replicas of the Fallout 3 AER-9 laser rifle and A3-21 plasma rifle. I can’t wait to see what Mr. Palser comes up with next.
Those who purchased the collectors edition of Dead Space 2 quickly found out that the replica Plasma Cutter that was to be included in the package, was, to be blunt, a cheap piece of crap, completely incapable of staving off an actual Necromorph invasion. Youtuber kipkay remedied this, however, with his laser hack for the Plasma Cutter. He replaced the outer LEDs with high-powered purple and blue lasers, strong enough to pop balloons and light matches on fire. In addition, he also replaced the middle LED with a stronger blue one, for aesthetic appeal. Cool hack!
Necessary warning: CAUTION!! Lasers can be dangerous! Do not point them at any living thing! DO NOT look into the beam or the reflection of the beam. Do not shine them into the sky. Always wear laser goggles. In other words, Tactical Fanboy doesn’t take responsibility for any damage to persons or property resulting from the viewing of this video and doesn’t condone the construction of high-powered laser devices. It’s been posted for entertainment purposes only. Don’t use lasers unless you know absolutely what you are doing.
This LEGO creation by ‘roflcopters ?’ of MOCpages.com is a full-sized model of the M4A1 carbine. It features a removable, magazine, removable carrying handle, removable foregrip, removable butt stock, and realistic iron sights. Pretty damn neat, if you ask me, but can I get it in all black bricks? If not, that’s fine. Less confused law enforcement officials that way.
Move over Robot Chicken, Youtuber actionfiguretherapy has definitely raised the bar for toy-based hilarity. In this series, G.I. Joe knockoff Jungle Recon (and the occasional friend) answers those questions we’re all dying to know, like how a mustache helps in combat. These questions are answered through a combination of pure hilarity, crass language, and Magnum P.I. references. Also, this vid is a little on the NSFW side, although they can get a lot more rude (not to mention even more hilarious).
Thanks to reader Nathan for pointing out this amazing series to me.
Have you ever wanted to see a highly detailed model of the BAE Systems M777 Field Howizer, in LEGO form? If so, then your dreams have come true. It was a model created by flickr user Colonel Henry for the Lego Marines Corps crewed weapons contest. In addition to the Howizer itself, and the environment it’s in, there’s also a full crew to man it. Pretty damn cool, if you ask me.
James Bond, eat your heart out. This totally ‘spy-a-rific’ (my term) children’s toy from the 1966 J.C. Penny Christmas Catalog transformed from an AM/FM radio* to a kick-ass cap gun. And for only $2.22. What a bargain!
In Modern Warfare 2, Ghost was Task Force 141’s mysterious operative who always wore sunglasses and a balaclava with the image of a human skull’s lower jaw on it. Despite his status as a secondary character (outside of the comic book, of course) he was one of the more popular characters in the game, especially since he shares a VA with Gaz, from the previous Modern Warfare. Originally only available to Infinity Ward and select partners, now it’s your chance to own a full-sized standee of this famous character, brand new in box, while benefiting Japan via #PlayForJapan in the process. Plus, the shipping’s free, which is a very nice bonus.
Child or man, everyone needs a backpack for something. Why not make it a Boba Fett rocket pack? Modeled after the jet pack/rocket launcher of the galaxy’s most feared bounty hunter, this plush backpack has one main pocket, a secondary pocket, and two zippered jet tubes. You can hold anything from important papers to disintegration devices, and look awesome while doing it.
How often do you see collectable figures adorned with actual licensed tactical products? Well, you can add this Cobra Viper to the list that does. Unlike the mindless legion of Cobra grunts that get stuck with that cheap plastic knock-off kit, an elite Cobra Viper (think 501st Legion aka Vader’s Fist) gets outfitted with authentic S.O.TECH gear. To be specific, the S.O.TECH Callahan Plate Carrier System, 12 mag Hellcat Chest Harness, and Rifleman’s Pack and Rigger’s Belt, all made to fit on his tiny, 12-inch vinyl body. It’s good to see that Cobra is keeping with the times and outfitting their soldiers with useful tactical gear, but could they possibly design a uniform to match? He looks more like a Power Ranger than any elite soldier should.
Did seeing the free screening of Cat Sh!t One on Youtube make you crave for the bunny heroes in a collectable form? Then you may just be in luck! This NERF N-Strike Tactical Vest can hold enough foam weaponry to start a small war… in your back yard. This one-size-fits-most vest holds four quick load clips (mags), 12 clip (mag) system darts, extra blasters, and any of the N-Strike swords. In addition, it comes with two clear clear clips (mags), because clear equals tactical, and 12 additional darts. At the rate NERF N-Strike is growing, I expect next years vest to be MOLLE compatible.
If you’ve had aspirations of being the Norse god of Thunder and Lightening, then you may just have to pick up this toy Mjöllnir replica coming out soon. Besides being totally awesome just for being a replica of the hammer of Thor, it also shoots a projectile which appears to represent a lightening bolt. In all honesty, the toy looks way better than the movie, which if you haven’t seen the trailer, looks like it’s gonna suck hard.
