Blast From The Past – Gun Kata in Equilibrium

Friday, October 28th, 2011

Remember the movie Equilibrium? Y’know, the one where Christian Bale does all those improbably sweet ‘Gun Kata’ moves with his dual heavily-modified Beretta 92FS’s and AR70s, G36s, 870s, and the like, all stylishly liberated from his enemies? Well, we sure as Hell do; that movie is badass! If you haven’t seen it yet, do yourself a favor and watch it ASAP. It’s really one of Bale’s best pre-Batman films.

Lumberjack Commandos

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

The most elite fighting force in the world. They go in Felling Axes and Crosscut Saws hot and run on nothing but flapjacks and pure testosterone. Trees of the world, prepare to meet your maker.

Get Your Zombie On With The History Channel Tonight!

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

Tonight, The History Channel will debut “Zombies: A Living History”. Featuring some of our favorite Zombie authors Max Brooks, Jonathon Maberry and JL Bourne, this documentary takes a look at Zombies through a historical lens.

Examining not only the voodoo Zombie but also the modern apocalyptic Zombie myth, “Zombies: A Living History” considers what makes the phenomenon just so damned scary. And oh yeah, there will be some guns in the show too.

Tank Dog

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

Tank Dog could be the ultimate combination of dog and machine, blinding his enemies with cuteness before decimating them with a well-aimed shell. Or, it could just be a Halloween costume. Yeah, we’ll just go with the later.

SureFire 100 Round High-Capacity Magazine – Range Test

Monday, October 24th, 2011

The SureFire 100-round High-Capacity Magazine is constructed from Mil-Spec hard-anodized aluminum. It weights 3.3 lbs. (!) fully loaded, and has a length of 12.2 inches, so have fun trying to go prone. It features reliable functioning thanks to mechanical simplicity and high-quality, non-binding springs coated with cadmium for low friction and corrosion resistance. Any weapon that can accept STANAG 4179 compliant magazines can accept one of these. Specifications aside, can a magazine with this high a capacity actually work reliably?

My initial analysis: yeah, it can. See, I was at a training class yesterday (more on that later) and I happened to bring a hi-cap mag along. Not for the class, mind you, but because I was at the range and I finally had a chance to test it out. It took a long time to load, and it was heavy [said Captain Obvious], but it seated just fine and I had no feeding failures. I had a few of the other students try it out as well, so it went through multiple AR-15s from many different manufacturers, and still had no issues. I’d have to use it a few more times, and in different weapons, to be completely sure, but as it stands it’s my full belief that SureFire made a great product in this magazine.

Girls, Guns, Exotic Cars & More

Monday, October 24th, 2011

Filmed at a BDS Tactical Gear photo shoot, this video has it all: hot women holding guns while posing next to expensive cars. A pretty good way to start the day, don’t you think?

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Launch Trailer

Sunday, October 23rd, 2011

The most anticipated game in history? Very much debatable. Does it look awesome? Hell yeah! After all, it is World War 3 we’re dealing with.

CoD: MW3 drops November 8th, 2011.

Bricks Of War

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

I like stop motion. I like LEGO. I like Gears of War. This video by YouTuber ‘Kooberz’ combines all three into a very entertaining 2 minutes of minifigures being violent. I wonder if Traveler’s Tales, Epic Games, and Microsoft would be willing to make this the next game in the ‘LEGO’ series.

Preparedness 101: Zombie Pandemic

Friday, October 21st, 2011

Described as “…a fun new way of teaching the importance of emergency preparedness.”, the CDC’s ‘”Preparedness 101: Zombie Pandemic” is a graphic novel that uses the always nightmarish Zombie pandemic as a frame for teaching people about the importance of having an emergency kit. Seriously, the last pages include an item checklist for that very purpose. Blatant advertising aside, the art isn’t the worst I’ve seen and the story is almost passable. It also features quite a bit of unintended hilarity. For example: because it’s from the CDC, all opportunities for full-on violence are completely abandoned for a good-ole’ dose of political correctness, which leads what is unequivocally the best part of the whole graphic novel:

You can read it here.

TacHacker – How To Throw A Knife Like Bill The Butcher

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

One of my most frequented internet destinations, Art of Manliness, has just put up an article and video on the always cool, but fairly impractical, art of knife throwing. Proper technique and the three primary types of knives are all covered, so you can start learning how to effectively chuck that pocket folder at any hunks of wood or would-be assailants in your path.

Ultimate Battlefield 3 Simulator

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

This simulator, which is be featured in an upcoming episode of The Gadget Show, uses a pre-release copy of Battlefield 3 in conjunction with various technologies to create one of the most immersive gaming experiences that currently exists. The technologies used include the world’s first, portable omni-directional treadmill (designed by Swedish company MSE Weibull), an Xbox Kinect camera hack, a wireless gun system, and ambient LED lighting, all encased within a 360 degree dome with five high definition projectors. The system even simulates enemy gunfire, courtesy of 12 paintball markers that pelt the player as they take in-game damage. Too bad at the present moment it’s only available across the pond.

Apocalypse – Gerber Gear

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

A number of Gerber blades have shown up on ‘The Walking Dead’, everybody’s favorite Zombie-comic-book-turned-tv-show. I was too absorbed in the story (and Zombie killin’) to notice most of them, which is perfectly fine by me. Of course, now if anyone decides to purchase any of these tools, they’ll surely have ‘As Seen On The Walking Dead’ prominently displayed on the packaging. After that, who knows how long before Gerber does their own line of specialized anti-Zombie blades.

Double Tap Teaser

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

What is it exactly? It’s .665 inches wide, 3.9 inches tall, and ultra concealable. More info to come later.

Update: it is the Heizer Double Tap, a derringer-esque .45 ACP pistol and the first pistol available from firearms manufacturer Heizer Firearms. It’s constructed from 100% titanium and contains a number of interesting features including a hammerless design, ported barrel, integral grips that allow for storage of two additional .45 ACP rounds, and an ‘auto eject break-action’ thumb latch. It’s also made in the USA, and isn’t afraid to remind you as such: ST. LOUIS MO, USA, EARTH is stamped on the side of the pistol.

Is It Too Early For Chicks With Guns?

Monday, October 17th, 2011

The story is revenge, or at least the plotting of revenge when this waifish model type played by Liberty Ross comes home covered in bruises in the short film, ‘Packing Heat’ by Johnny Green. Presented by Damaris Lingerie, the point of the story is the drawers and not the technique. Hell, she must have watched a bunch of 70s cop shows to train up for this considering the cup and saucer grip she takes.

I gotta say, that gold-plated Luger is pimp.

POV BASE Jumping

Monday, October 17th, 2011

It’s awesomely insane enough that three dudes would dare to scale the 610 ft. Gran Hotel Bali in Benidorm, Spain and BASE jump off it. It’s even better that one of them wore a camera and put the footage on YouTube. Videos like this always manage to scare the hell out of me.

Hornady Zombie Ammo… It’s Alive!

Saturday, October 15th, 2011

Cheesy video (and disclaimer) aside, Hornady’s line of undead stopping rounds, called Zombie Max, are real. Just take a look at this sales sheet for further proof:

Hard to tell if this is a great victory for Zombie meta humor, or a cheap marketing gimmick. Either way, ammo is ammo I suppose.
