Battle Mug

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

It’s getting VERY hot here at the home office and one of the best ways to cool down is to take a big, cool drink. So, why not do it in style? Featuring 4 Mil Std 1913 rails, the Battle Mug starts life as a 13.5 pound! solid block of 6061 T6 billet aluminum before it enters a state of the art CNC facility. What comes out is a 24 ounce tankard that screams warrior. The idea came about over beers and a conversation about a pile of removable M4 carrying handles.

Battle Mug has been used in a variety of ways; to commemorate commissioning, to honor others and hail & farewells, and as gifts for loved ones.

Battle Mug is Made in USA and can be customized in a variety of ways including various finishes. Additionally, the Picatinny rails will accept any number of accessories, including those pesky M4 carrying handles which make tipping back a brew or two a snap.

Call Of Duty Elite

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

Introducing Call of Duty Elite, an innovative new online service that significantly enhances the Call of Duty franchise’s multiplayer experience delivering a new level of social engagement to players worldwide. Connect. Compete. Improve.

Honestly, I see both positives and negatives with this service. The positives: stat tracking, detailed weapons bios, clan formation, leagues and operations, the program guide, expanded theater, and being able to potentially access it from my iPad and other mobile devices. It all looks pretty sweet. The negative: having to pay for additional services. That ain’t sweet. At least there’s the tiniest peak at MW3 at the end of the video. And hey, they’re offering a chance to get into the closed beta for the service right now, so go and sign up.

ARMA 2 Army Special Forces (Multicam) v1.0

Monday, May 30th, 2011

Binkowski of the Bohemia Interactive forums has released a patch for ARMA 2, a tactical FPS, that adds Special Forces decked out in MultiCam. Specifically, the patch adds six character models modeled after US Army Special Forces ODA’s and two translators, four backpacks, and a communications pack that functions as a UAV pack. The author of the patch admits the MultiCam swatch is somewhat out of date, but the dedication to keeping up with current military camouflage usage is commendable.

Happy Memorial Day!

Monday, May 30th, 2011

Always observed on the last Monday of May, Memorial Day is often considered the beginning day of the Summer season, with labor day being the last. Enjoy your celebrations, whether they be at the beach, a backyard barbecue, or somewhere entirely different, but remember the true reason for this holiday: commemorating those who died while in military service.

Sawblade Slingshot

Sunday, May 29th, 2011

I’m not quite sure it tops his Machete Slingshot, but Youtuber JorgSprave has come close with his newest creation, the Sawblade Slingshot. With the clever use of a dowel and a strip of rubber, he’s created a way to fire consistently rotating sawblades, which is mandatory for stabilization, as you’ll see in the video. I think it’s obvious who’s high on the ‘People We Want To Know In Case Of The Apocalypse’ list.

Gears Of War 3 World Premier Trailer

Sunday, May 29th, 2011

If you’re like me and missed the television premier of the newest Gears 3 trailer (Instead, I went and saw Kung Fu Panda 2 with the family; it was good, honest), here it is in all its glory. Explosive action plus War Pigs equals one Epic trailer. BTW, Epic is the game studio developing GoW3, so there’s a pun in that, maybe.

Gears of War 3 comes out September 20th, 2011 exclusively on Xbox 360.

Cyberbots Binoculars

Saturday, May 28th, 2011

Juan Pablo Lasa developed this concept art for binoculars that transform into a robot ala Transformers. I could totally see this guy fitting in with the old 80’s cartoon, probably as a Decepticon. After all, Megatron transformed into a pistol and Soundwave turned into a microcassette recorder.

Tiberius Arms T4 Rifle

Saturday, May 28th, 2011

At first glance this looks more like a SBR than a paintball gun, but it most definitely is the latter. The Tiberius Arms T4 Rifle comes with two 14 round magazines, which accept Tiberius’ proprietary First Strike round, a bullet-like paintball. It features billet machined upper and lower receivers, a monolithic rail platform, functional charging handle, tri-rail riser mount with 4 side rails, and both remote air and hopper adapters. The T4 also comes equipped with a 4×32 dual illuminated scope, low-profile bipod, and a collapsible AR-15/M4 style stock.

Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D

Friday, May 27th, 2011

It’s obvious this trailer was meant to be viewed in 3D, but even without the depth-of-field, it still looks amazing. Snake Eater 3D is an enhanced port of the PS2 classic, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and will be featured at this year’s E3. Besides the series standard excellent gameplay and story set in Cold War Soviet Russia, camouflage played a huge part in the game, with the protagonist, Naked Snake, being able to change his look on the fly to better suit his current environment. The trailer itself is a little old, so I’d expect even better looking visuals when more information is released next month.

weLoaded T-Shirt

Friday, May 27th, 2011

Now’s your chance to wear the most impressive armory of weapons found throughout all of fiction. From the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch to the Klingon Bat’leth to the Nuke at the end of Dr. Strangelove, 79 fictional weapons adorn this circular design. Available in these styles: Blue/Black, Green/Forest (with a couple of replacement weapons), and a third that’s numbered to make future identification easier. True nerd cred goes to anyone who can name every weapon; I’m admittedly not recognizing a few.

Breach Bang Clear Seeking Zombie Stories

Friday, May 27th, 2011

Fancy yourself a writer of zombie fiction? Or maybe it’s not fiction at all but rather a tell all expose on our Government’s war on the undead, so long as those undead are hippies. Either way, Breach Bang Clear is seeking your story for their upcoming anthology, “Attack of the Hippie Zombies”. It’s a first for us too, combining the hippie and undead genres. Submissions should be 800 to 20,000 word (unless it’s so good and full of zombie killing, hippie stomping goodness it makes them want to make an exception) and should be set in the era between 1965 and the present.

Would-be authors will be donating their proceeds to support the Independence Fund and veterans who have suffered extensive traumatic injury. It’s for a good cause guys.

The rules get a little complicated so make sure you visit www.breachbangclear.com for full details.

WASP Injector Knife

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

The WASP Injector Knife carries a cartridge in the handle, which when triggered will deliver a basketball sized freezing cold blast of gas at 800psi nearly instantly via the blade. Marketed as a diving, hunting, and tactical knife, the WASP is made from surgical stainless steel, weighs around 13.5 ounces loaded and features a total length of 11.25 inches. The WASP can be custom ordered with one of four handles and/or a max adapter, which allows for gas cartridges upward of 24g. It also can do quite the number on a hostile watermelon.

Dawn Of The Dead Mall Map Poster

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

One of a series of minimalist movie posters by Matt Owen, this one being a map of the mall from Dawn Of The Dead. I love the attention to detail, especially how the legend is kind enough to point out that zombies are represented by little green dots. A ‘you are here’ where the survivors were would have been a hilarious touch.

Firearm Negligence

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

A great collection of negligent discharges, improper equipment checks and uses, improper attire, and use of a firearm one is either incapable of using or unfamiliar with. In other words, witness an extremely amusing collection of firearms fail. Although not every clip in the collection can necessarily be described as “negligent”, they’re still funny as Hell. Enjoy!

Modern Warfare 3: F*** Yeah Edition – NSFW

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

It was only a matter of time before someone combined the MW3 trailer with “America, F*** Yeah” from “Team America: World Police”. There’s at least a little irony using this song given the overall plot and events of the Modern Warfare series, but I wouldn’t want to spoil the hilarity by pointing it out. Really, it’s good for a laugh.

Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader Salutes The Armed Forces

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

“Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader Salutes The Armed Forces” by Bathroom Reader’s Institute is packed full of interesting trivia about all five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces throughout history, as well as other military related information. Topics including the origins of the KA-BAR fighting knife, the construction of the Pentagon, the truth behind MASH, and more are organized into easy-to-read sections, with lengths varying from one page to ten or more, based on how lengthy a story you’re willing to read at any given time. As is the intention, it’s great reading material while in the bathroom, although the information is so interesting you may end up reading it everywhere in your house. In that case, an extra copy or two might not hurt.

TarpaFlex Camouflage Tarps

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

TarpaFlex camouflage tarps are an excellent choice for outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and paintball. Made from low density polyethylene with a high density polyethylene coating, these tarps feature two colorings on opposite sides, camouflage and olive green. They are waterproof, mildewproof, tear resistant, acid resistant, can handle extreme temperatures, and are UV treated on both sides. Rustproof grommets adorn the tarp ever 24″ to allow for secure anchoring points, and the corners are reinforced.

Drunk Ewoks On The Today Show

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

An oldie but a goodie. Drunk Ewoks are always good for a laugh, but I think that Al Roker’s Han Solo hair steals the show, to be honest.

Kit Up! Interviews Dale Dye

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

Movies like Platoon and Saving Private Ryan and series like Band of Brothers and The Pacific are known for their portrayal of the gritty realism of war. This is largely in part to Dale Dye and his company Warrior Inc. Dye, a former marine with several tours in Vietnam, served as both an infantryman and combat correspondent. This experience led to his career as a consultant for and actor in various Hollywood war movies, including the aforementioned Platoon, which has been released on Blu-ray today, May 24th. To showcase this event, Kit Up! interviewed him about his career and experiences in the military and Hollywood.

Gears Of War 3 Retro Lancer Replica

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

This replica of the Retro Lancer from Gears of War 3 was modeled from actual 3D data used in the creation of the game. It’s 3 1/2 feet long, and features a machine gun sound effect with a pull of the trigger. Each Retro Lancer is hand painted with weathered and battle worn detail. The Retro Lancer replica will be available stand alone on September 13th, or with any of three GameStop bundles.

Carbine Crossbow

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Youtuber WeaponCollector has designed a carbine crossbow* and is building it from simply constructed pieces of wood and metal. Just goes to show you how human ingenuity knows few bounds. And hey, Parts 2 and 3 are up already, so give them a look on his channel.

*Note: This video is for entertainment purposes only. I’m not responsible for any construction of the carbine crossbow or any ill-attempted William Tell-type scenarios that occur from use of said crossbow.

Modern Warfare 3 World Premier Trailer Tonight

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Just a quick reminder that the World Premier trailer for MW3 will be airing during game 4 of the Western Conference Finals on ESPN around 6 PM PT, much like MW2 and Black Ops in years past. If you’re like me and don’t watch a lot of televised sports, I’m sure it’ll be up on the internet minutes later.

Update:

November can’t come soon enough!

Elusion Camo

Sunday, May 22nd, 2011

Most camouflage simply breaks up your form, but these designs by Lee Dufresne of Elusion Camo are designed to seamlessly blend into the environment. Pictures are taken of trees, bushes, cornfields, ect. and are layered into a non-repeating linear pattern, which is then vaporized and transferred onto fabric. The camo itself is made from a thin, baggy material designed to go over clothes, which reacts to light in a more natural way and makes proper use of shadows. The camo also features pockets designed with the hunter in mind and uses a less noisy form of Velcro. Elusion Camo is fully made in the USA.

OPS-CORE Helmet In MW3

Saturday, May 21st, 2011

It was brought to my attention that MW3 will feature OPS-CORE FAST helmets, based on these images. Pretty cool. Who knows what other gear we’ll see when the game gets released? After all, they’re starting to show manufactures on the firearm models.
