Everything is better with Tom Selleck’s mustache on it

Monday, February 6th, 2012

There’s really no way to comment on the penultimate awesomeness of this. It is so epic than any offering on our part would be banal and superficially useless.

We await official commentary from the American Mustache Institute.

It’s Official: Man Vs. Wild With Bear Grylls Is The Greatest Video Game Ever

Saturday, February 4th, 2012

From sweet, gravity-defying flips to snake skin canteens full of urine, this video featuring (hilarious) commentary by best friends Matt and Pat easily shows why the Man Vs. Wild video game is the greatest game ever.

Words of warning: you may want to turn your volume down just a tad. Also, the video is a bit NSFW.

New AFT video up

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

Epic Car Key Peehole Destruction is the new video from Action Figure Therapy. (Warning: Language, duh.)

“If everything goes according to plan should have a new Ranger, Chavez and Jungle video up by tomorrow at noon,” Action Figure Therapy says. “If it doesn’t we’ll probably just get drunk on box wine from Costco and go skinny dipping in a fountain at the nearest outdoor mall. Because that’s what Jungle would do.”

Aliens: Colonial Marines Contact Trailer

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

Check out the latest trailer for the upcoming ‘Aliens: Colonial Marines’. It’s Kick-ass Space Marines fighting terrifying Xenomorphs, all gloriously pre-rendered. Sure, there’s no actual new gameplay footage, but it already looks a lot better than ‘Alien 3’ could ever hope to be. It’s a shame this game got pushed back to Fall.

The Bitch Slaps: Don’t Get Slapped

Resident Evil 6 Reveal Trailer

Saturday, January 28th, 2012

Check out this reveal trailer for the upcoming Resident Evil 6. Fan favorites Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield return as the main characters along with a brand new protagonist as they deal with a world-wide zombie/BOW (Bio Organic Weapon) outbreak. Looks even more action packed than previous games in the series, which, considering 4 and 5, is really saying something.

Resident Evil 6 drops November 20th, 2012.

Interesting Chinese Military Training

Check out these Chinese troops putting their skills on display. The thing we found most particularly interesting was the hot potato exercise involving high explosives.

SHOT 2012: Anti-Zombie Chainsaw Pic Rail Attachment

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Finally, someone has developed a rail-attach chainsaw for anti-zombie work. Frankly, it’s overdue, so kudos to Doublestar for finally getting it done. Known as the Zombie X (for Zombie Exterminator), Doublestar had this display out for those of you preparing for the Zombiepocalypse at the Doublestar Booth. This thing has a separate power/activation and a battery at the butt of the Kalash it mounts to (it will also mount to an AR, though it might be a little much weight to add to an M249). The chainsaw is fully functional and has its own EOTech sight (there’s a separate optic for the rifle itself). No word as to whether they’ve considered replacing the EOTech with  one of those lasers you see on fancy saws at the hardware stores (you know, the ones that show where the cut line is).

Doublestar Chainsaw Attachment and Kalashnikov. Pic by Gamma Nine.

Keep in mind if you do use a chainsaw during a zombiepocalyptic event, you must wear a full face mask, not just eye pro. You think a money shot in the dirty movies is gross? Try avoiding the infection (and vomiting) sure to follow when you get a face full of zombie gore after carving it into pieces.

Currently the Zombie-X is not for sale. This prototype was built for FEMA, Homeland Security Zombie Division and the SHOT Show only. If you actually want one, you’ll need to contact Doublestar. Hopefully the production models (since they build the full rifle in addition to the chainsaw pic-rail attachment) will come with a BattleComp.

Star Wars Uncut: Director’s Cut

Sunday, January 22nd, 2012

First, take the beloved classic ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’. Next, cut it up into 15 second increments. Then, have a bunch of fans choose the clip of their choice, and refilm it in any style of their choosing. Finally, splice the fan-clips together into a complete movie and show it on the internet. That’s the idea behind Star Wars Uncut: Director’s Cut.

You can watch it on YouTube.

Time lapse apocalypse management

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

This is really cool to watch, even if you’re not the artistic type. It’s a time lapse video showing the process of creating the cover art for Xabiroi. More on deisign.com.

We love that post-apocalyptic stuff here on TFB.

Harry Potter is doing some trigger pulling in Iraq

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

Ignore any of the conspiracy theory stuff, if you want. Just watch the video. It’s pretty cool.

Tactical Fanboy: Harry Potter is running direct action missions in Iraq, apparently.

Tactical Fanboy: Harry Potter is running direct action missions in Iraq, apparently.

NO idea if this is actually Harry Potter using his invisibility cloak and marauder map to put some hate down on insurgents in Iraq, some kind of high level steely-eyed snake-eater tech accidentally being revealed or just some clever video editing (after all, anything is possible with film these days: they made us want to get freaky with green-skinned chicks on the new Star Trek movie, right?) Definitely worth checking it out though.

WTF? – Dubstep In The Red Tails TV Spot

Saturday, January 7th, 2012

If you’ve been watching TV recently, there’s a decent chance you’ve seen this commercial about the upcoming film ‘Red Tails’:

Pardon me if I’m wrong, but is that a dubstep “song” (the term “song” is used loosely here) playing over images of WWII fighter planes? I don’t know about you, but I had to rewind my cable (thank you, DVR!) when I first saw this just to make sure I wasn’t crazy. Don’t get me wrong, from the other trailers I’ve seen this current iteration of ‘Red Tails’ looks decent with lots of pretty special effects, but dubstep seems, I dunno, kinda out of place in a WWII movie. Well, I guess that’s what you get when the beast that spawned Episodes 1 through 3 handles the Tuskegee Airmen.

*sigh* George 'Freaking' Lucas

Red Tails releases in theaters January 20th, 2012.

How Not To Throw A Hand Grenade

Wednesday, December 28th, 2011

Title says it all. According to the video source this is a Chinese Army exercise, which in all honestly doesn’t surprise me that much. To the instructor’s credit, he was pretty calm about the whole thing.

What Santa Does The Day After Christmas

Monday, December 26th, 2011

Appearantly Santa chills out at the range with a .50 cal and some of his most beautiful little helpers. I figured he’d be too busy planning for next year’s Christmas, but I’ve been wrong before.

The Dark Knight Rises Trailer

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

A morning started with Batman is a morning well spent, and correct me if I’m wrong, but was that a Bat-hovercraft?!? This is gonna be one helluva way to end the Noland trilogy! Too bad we’ve got over half a year left to wait :(.

How Kim Jong Il Really Died – Action Figure Therapy (NSFW)

Monday, December 19th, 2011

I think we all knew that Kim Jong’s heart attack was just a North Korean government media coverup, but I never would have guessed it was Jungle Recon’s mighty Syphilis that did ‘im in.

MS ONE Maximum Security

Saturday, December 17th, 2011

MS ONE Maximum Security (previously titled as ‘Lock-Out’) is an upcoming sci-fi thriller, staring Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace. It’s written and produced by Luc Besson, and takes place in the year 2079 where a man wrongly convicted of conspiracy against the United States must rescue the President’s daughter from a prison controlled by escaped convicts… in space! Sounds like a winner to me!

MS ONE drops April 13th, 2012.

Max Payne 3 – Creating a Cutting Edge Action-Shooter

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

This trailer for Max Payne 3 showcases the technical aspects of the game, including the use of the Euphoria engine for realistic character movement and individually modeled bullets, to create a well-crafted and cinematic experience. Bullet time hasn’t looked this good since the original Max Payne came out. Or the first Matrix movie. Take your pick.

Max Payne 3 drops March, 2012.

Thirty Seconds to Mars: Weirdness in Afghanistan (or somewhere)

Sunday, November 20th, 2011

If you read the comments under this pretty cool video from Thirty Seconds to Mars, you’ll see pretty much exactly what we thought. Why in the hell is pretty boy shooting at tanks and choppers hurtling through the air? Nevertheless, despite some of the incongruities, this is pretty engaging visually (and the song isn’t too bad either, depending on your tastes).  Note also that Thirty Seconds to Mars is apparently under the control of the Illuminati (just read more of the comments), so presumably they will soon rule the world. Or perhaps just destroy parts of it with a fire-breathing giant lizard. There’s also a secret ingredient in Kentucky Fried Chicken that allows Col. Sanders (who is alive on a volcano island with Elvis and Jim Morrison) to control your very thoughts.

Here’s the Lyrics:

A warning to the people
The good and the evil
This is war
To the soldier, the civilian
The martyr, the victim
This is war

It’s the moment of truth and the moment to lie
The moment to live and the moment to die
The moment to fight, the moment to fight, to fight, to fight, to fight

To the right, to the left
We will fight to the death
To the Edge of the Earth
It’s a brave new world from the last to the first

To the right, to the left
We will fight to the death
To the Edge of the Earth
It’s a brave new world
It’s a brave new world

A warning to the prophet, the liar, the honest
This is war
To the leader, the pariah, the victim, the messiah
This is war

It’s the moment of truth and the moment to lie
The moment to live and the moment to die
The moment to fight, the moment to fight, to fight, to fight, to fight

To the right
To the left
We will fight to the death
To the edge of the earth
It’s a brave new world
From the last to the first

To the right
To the left
We will fight to the death
To the edge of the earth
It’s a brave new world
It’s a brave new world
It’s a brave new world

I do believe in the light
Raise your hands up to the sky
The fight is done
The war is won
Lift your hands
Towards the sun
Towards the sun
Towards the sun
Towards the sun
The war is won

It’s the moment of truth and the moment to lie
The moment to live and the moment to die
The moment to fight, the moment to fight, to fight, to fight, to fight

To the right
To the left
We will fight to the death
To the edge of the earth
It’s a brave new world
From the last to the first

To the right
To the left
We will fight to the death
To the edge of the earth
It’s a brave new world
It’s a brave new world
It’s a brave new world

A brave new world
The war is won
The war is won
A brave new world

I believe in nothing
Not the end and not the start
I believe in nothing
Not the earth and not the stars
I believe in nothing
Not the day and not the dark
I believe in nothing
But the beating of our hearts
I believe in nothing
One hundred suns until we part
I believe in nothing
Not in satan, not in god
I believe in nothing
Not in peace and not in war
I believe in nothing
But the truth of who we are

Insane Chinook Exfil

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

While I question the practicality of this particular method of exfiltration, sometimes the rule of cool just has to overtake all logic. More important than anything else, however, is that someone not only recorded this but had the good will to put it on YouTube.
