America’s Love for Guns – Little Britain USA

Sunday, April 8th, 2012

That LEO really loves him some guns…

The .50 Cal Gatling: Getcha one of these.

Thursday, April 5th, 2012

Personally, I want to see one of these on a technical, driven by a bunch of mean, bearded sumbitches from Ft. Benning rocking their way through a hostile village in Pashtunistan. But that’s just me.

The GAU-19 Gatling .50 Cal is one serious piece of hardware which I thought I’d mention today in light of it’s renewed interest for Naval deployment. Many have never even heard of it or seen it deployed, which is a shame because this monster can lay down the hate.

Read the whole story at the Loadout Room.

Ghost Recon Network

Thursday, April 5th, 2012

What is Ghost Recon Network? Well, in layman’s terms, it could be called the Ghost Recon equivalent to Call of Duty ELITE, but that wouldn’t be doing the service justice. It boasts more than enough unique features to distance itself from its competitors.

BC 1.5 black oxide back in stock

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

The BattleComp 1.5 in black oxide is back in stock (seems like they’re constantly selling out). The BC1.5 has the same performance as the BC1.0 and 2.0 SVC and so will probably evoke the same sort of “BattleComp Tourettes” the first time you shoot it. The 1.5 has been extended and pre-drilled for permanent attachment on 14.5” barrels needing a 16.1” overall lengthy. Professional installation is required. This BC is made from 17-4 heat-treated stainless steel bar stock with a black oxide finish and will fit all barrels using 1/2x28RH standard threads.

The BattleComp is bad ass, you should check it out. Buy one here.

Here’s an older video showing a 1.5s performance:

Take Aim at the Enemy of Humanity

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012

Note: TFB is happy to share this article from Red2Alpha, long-time reader of Tactical Fanboy and ardent Cylon-hater.

I have stated publicly that I will not rest until the Cylon threat to humanity is recognized for what it is: A slow, creeping plot that if not stopped will eventually see the human race reduced to near extinction and for those who do survive, a life of slavery to their silicon based overlords.  Do your part to prevent humanity from entering that dark night by sharpening your skills with this Cylon Centurion target poster.

Poor man’s shotgun slugs

Monday, March 19th, 2012

This is pretty interesting…I certainly didn’t know when slugs were invented…makes sense, given the old “buck and ball” shot (well, not just old, you can still get it). Anyway, these are known as “Cut Slugs.” They’re a field expedient alternative shotgun slug. These munitions were used back before true slug munitions were available.

I’m not terribly sure why sometimes they just randomly open up with the rifles, unless it’s to contrast the effectiveness of the Cut Slug.

Cool Kit I Want Just Because

Monday, March 19th, 2012

Glock slide with bad ass work by Up-Armored Knives and Coatings in the SRT Skull pattern. It’ll cost you a hundred bucks plus shipping (and your own Glock slide, of course). UAKC says the finish will hold up as well or better than the original.

The BAD-ASS

Friday, March 16th, 2012

Looking for an ambi-selector for your AR? Battle Arms Development several ambidextrous selector variants, with five lever options. All are CNC machined ambidextrous selector and levers, with included KNS Precision selector detent. BADASS: Battlefield Arms Development Ambidextrous Safety Selector. They’re for AR15s and the like, and will shortly be available for the MP15-22.

“MP15-22 has a reversible selector, but reversible isn’t ambidextrous. Soon 15-22 owners can outfit their 15-22s like their high powered cousins and train with similar controls,” says BAD.

Note: currently non-dovetailed selectors are back ordered, but only for a few days. They do have the dovetailed, BAD-CASS-SA (Combat Ambidextrous Safety Selector, Semi Auto) in stock and available. Also, since mid-February, all selectors have shipped with two extra screws and an extra selector detent spring. If you’re like me, that’s good news, I can’t hang on to a damn thing smaller than a bowling ball for any length of time.

Battle Arms Development is on Facebook and of course has a homepage.

Kalashnikov Vodka – AK47 Bottle

Sunday, February 19th, 2012

Limited to a production of 13,000 units, this Lux grade Vodka brewed by Glasov Distillery is, true to its name, bottled in AK-47-shaped bottles. The 1 liter bottles come in a ‘Military Green’ wooden case and feature a numbered dog tag. Most of them have already been snatched up by collectors and the like, but there’s still some supply left, at least according to the site www.kalashnikov-vodka.com, where you can order a bottle. However, expect to spend £250 ($396 US), not including additional fees and postage.

Um…a unicorn gun with chainsaw? WTF?

Thursday, February 16th, 2012

Take a California legal S&W M&P15, put a tri-color dot optic and 6-position stock on it, then add an 18 volt rechargeable chainsaw with “fast swap bayonet mount”.

Then paint it in a gender-confused scheme that has nothing to do camouflage (or anything remotely tactical) and put a tail on it. What do you have?

Weird stuff…it’s out there.

Securing your real steel

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

A lot of TFB readers shoot real steel. Many of you are current or former military, a surprising number of you have concealed carry licenses (which we think is great, so we’re clear). One question that frequently arises is the issue of securing a weapon. One of the places we follow is the Personal Defense Network. Here’s a suggestion on their part for one security option.

SHOT Media Range Day 2012 – Custom MKA 1919 12 GA Shotgun

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

20120116-173424.jpg

The MKA 1919 is a Turkish made 12 ga shotgun imported by RAAC. It’s modeled on the AR-15 platform in both appearance and the location and function of the safety and magazine release. The model I tried at Media Day was a variant modified for competition purposes. It features a flat upper receiver with an EOTec sight, collapsible stock, modified barrel and choke, replacement pistol grip, enlarged charging handle, and enlarged mag release. Additionally, it also had a 10-round extended magazine. It’s dubbed the ‘Zombie gun’, due to its paint job.

20120116-175343.jpg

Despite being chambered for 12 ga shells, it was practically recoilless. Definitely a good choice to consider of you’re looking for an accurate and comfortable semi-auto shotgun.

The basic model is imported by RAAC.

Spike’s Tactical Part 1: Pirate Huntin’

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

Spike’s Tactical has a number of different “designer” lowers for real steel shooters. Today we’ll look at the Pirate version. Could be perfect if you are a pirate (though truthfully that would mean you’ve lost most of your teeth, chew qat and prefer an AK) or better yet if you’re a pirate hunterKilling pirates isn’t such a bad idea. Too bad the government no longer issues letters of marque. The one pictured is the ‘Pirate Lower w/ Enhanced Kit: FDE CTR Stock & MOE Grip”. It runs $444.95.  It features the Calico Jack logo instead of their typical Spider logo, and the selector switch markings are bullet pictograms. Though they don’t show it specifically, you may be able to get a color fill job on it if you want (see below).

Spike’s Tactical AR pieces come with a lifetime warranty. Full specs below.

Also check out their video on how to zero your weapon, it’s really good.

For more on their kit, here’s an article from Tactical Weapons about their “BioHazard EDW 6.8
