Patriotic Boobs: Knockers for the Troops

November 18th, 2011

Reprinted with permission of Breach-Bang-Clear and the Mad Duo

Here’s something you don’t see every day (more’s the pity). There is a Facebook page with attendant website called Knockers for the Troops. We’ll post the link later because otherwise you won’t read our article, and we’re putting a lot of effort into this to risk being ignored.

It’s affiliated with the cartoon Power Point Ranger and, lest you think it’s just a large collection of boobs – and make no mistake it’s a large, superb collection of boobs – they sponsor a lot of military charity support by virtue of ad space and pimping pro-military organizations to their (not surprisingly substantial) we traffic.

Warning: this article will be discussing breasts. It will undoubtedly seem flippant but will hopefully not venture across the LOD into lewd. If you are easily offended or are a sissy crybaby that is going to complain we use the word boob and *gasp* show a picture of cleavage, feel free to stop reading now.

What we found interesting, other than the various wonderful sizes, shapes and colors of the subject matter, was the strong split in opinions from females. We figured there’d be a lot of catty responses, though nothing KftT posts is worse than PG13. There are forums of military spouses decrying it as soft porn and video responses complaining there aren’t similar website for female military personnel. The surprising thing is the number of women, including spouses and girlfriends, who do support the effort. Many of them are not only gracious enough to share their cleavage, they do battle with the naysayers openly and volubly, without concealing their faces and names. That’s pretty kewl.

For the opponents, we have the opinion you’d probably expect. If you’re worried about your significant other looking at PG rated cleavage shots on a good natured Facebook page, you have some relationship issues that are not going to be solved by pissing and moaning about it (especially if he’s deployed). If you’re going to whine that there isn’t a female-oriented counterpart site then create one. KftT was a private, “grass roots” bosom effort to begin with. No one is saying you can do the same thing.

In the end, we think the fuss is a little contrived and the support just to be expected. It’s easy to complain about something from here at home when you’re not subjected to the tyranny of the moment. If you’re freezing your ass off at COP Herrera watching guys from other places come in to get in a TIC so they can get their CABs and CIBs, looking at the pictures SOME GAVE ALL wall (which has quintupled in size over the last few months), you probably don’t give much of a shit that some overly sensitive dependent, officious marplot of a SNCO or an officer’s wife at the PX nail salon back in the states objects to you looking at cleavage on those few occasions the internet’s running good enough to upload a picture.

The rules give a pretty good idea of how tame these pages are:

·No nipples
·Nothing below the waist
·No ‘hand bras’
·No wet or see through T-shirts
·No pasties, real or computer generated
·No harassing ladies with creeper messages
·No celebs.
·No posting your e-mail
·No advertising your own page
·Must wear eyepro and safety belt at all times
·If you’re posting ex girlfriend pics you will be banned. First and ONLY warning

We give Knockers for the Troops a thumbs up, if only because the women there are doing something positive for the boys (and probably a handful of the girls). If you don’t like, it, don’t look at it. It isn’t much harder than changing the channel.

Besides, buxom boobaliciousness of this magnitude is just awesome. Get over it.

Join us over on Facebook to discuss…and remember, once we have enough people ask about it, we’ll tell you the tale of Naughty Nikki.

Milkbone Micro-Rig

November 18th, 2011

Here’s something you don’t see every day. LBE for a pit ninja, so he has a full combat load-out of milkbones. This canine micro rig is courtesy of Original Special Operations Equipment, and Buddy (the operator in the picture) makes it look uncommonly good.

Here’s a more traditional way to use this piece of kit.

GunGoddess

November 18th, 2011

Created by Athena Means, long-time gun owner and participant in practical shooting sports, GunGoddess.com is a website that caters to women shooters with a line of female-centric products. To quote the owner herself: “My feeling is, there’s no reason why women shooters can’t kick ass just as well in pink as in OD green!”

GunGoddess deals primarily in originally designed apparel, bullet casing jewelry, range and firearms bags, concealed-carry purses, and firearms accessories, most of which can be found in bright colors and/or leopard print. The site will soon be offering apparel and accessories for younger shooters. Also to come is a section on women’s firearms training courses and shooting clubs around the country.

Besides GunGoddess, there’s also GunfighterWear, which offers a similar selection of products intended for males such as apparel, bullet casing jewelry, range and firearms bags, and firearms accessories. GunfighterWear products are designed with more subdued and traditional colors and styles when compared to the big sister brand.

Star Wars: the Old Republic Beta

November 17th, 2011

From Wowhead.com News: apparently for the next hour and a half (CST), less or more depending on where you live, you can get a Beta key for the new Start Wars the Old Republic game. Here’s the info if you want it.

“Star Wars: The Old Republic is coming out next month and the beta has been in gear for quite some time. Many of the Wowhead staff members, myself included, have spent their share of time with the force lately and loved it. Unfortunately, the beta has been hard to get into for many fans beyond a weekend stress test. This week, however, we’ve got a chance for you to get in easily!

Our parent site, ZAM, is giving away 25,000 beta keys for SWTOR on a first come, first serve basis. Yes, 25,000 keys. We’d love for you to support them by entering their giveaway and trying out SWTOR. All you have to do is sign-up for a ZAM account and you get a free key instantly sent to you–while supplies last, of course.”

It appears to be legit. If you find out otherwise, let us know.

Statistics Of Weapons Usage During A Zombie Outbreak

November 17th, 2011

This “United States Government” provided poster shows the percentages for use of various weapons in Zombie outbreaks, along with the various causes for Zombies, and Max Brooks’s 10 lessons for surviving a Zombie attack. I’m assuming this data was recovered from the various movies listed in the timeline chart near the bottom. I’d hoped bladed weapons would have more prominence, but the stats don’t lie. Also, ‘Army of Darkness’ and ‘The Evil Dead’ get mentions, which I always love to see.

Insane Chinook Exfil

November 16th, 2011

While I question the practicality of this particular method of exfiltration, sometimes the rule of cool just has to overtake all logic. More important than anything else, however, is that someone not only recorded this but had the good will to put it on YouTube.

Tactical…Corsets?

November 16th, 2011

It sounds a trifle misanthropic, but check out the introduction to the Tactical Corsets. Yes, Tactical Corsets. As in load bearing female underthingies.

“For too long, women have had to compromise practicality for beauty. Men got pants with integrated cargo pockets and knee pads, women got clothes whose only built-in feature was cuteness. But why should men get all the high-speed low-drag tactical toys? Tactical gear is no longer an all boys club. Tactical Corsets bring female operators MILSPEC features like PALS modular pouch attachment webbing, self-adjustable quick-release buckles and Cordura construction in a load-bearing carrier designed to support the female form as well as men. And we’re just getting started…”

They are apparently looking forward to making (no kidding) tactical corsets that provide ballistic protection, using such gel material as the British MoD’s (Ministry of Defense) d30 material. Plus, they are modular. Your favorite fightin’ wench can add mag pouches or a hydration pouch or whatever you want. That ought to make it more interesting at a Steampunk gathering or rave, eh?

“Lace has grace but buckles are quick release.”

We like it, leather and kevlar clad beauties. We like it. Go forth and conquer.

Tac Girls Still Available for SHOT

November 15th, 2011

TFB has been advised there are still a couple of Tac Girls available for sponsorship at SHOT, if you want to put your booth on the map (and give it some interesting eye candy). Several of them are already assigned to booths, largely those of manufacturers who help the calendar shoots with gear or just moral support. DSA, American Snipers, Armalite and some others will have a Tac Girl as their tactically hawt one-woman QRF. If you would like to recruit one for your booth or organization, contact Tac Girls.

Now, you only get to have her there to help out at the booth. You don’t get to keep her or take her home. Sorry fellas.

Go back through and check out the Tac Girls of the Week if you get the chance.

Carbon Fiber Full Body Armor: Stormtroopers

November 15th, 2011

Forget the Kryron Terminator Armor System or Dragonskin…the future of head to toe full body armor is here, and it looks eerily familiar. Engineering technician Leonard Carson woks for San Diego Composites. He convinced some of his buddies at work to help with his dream of creating actual storm trooper armor out of carbon fiber. Apparently they were all big Star Wars fans, so it was a pretty easy sell. Now, in fairness we’re not actually saying this armor provides ballistic protection (nor do they claim it) but it’s certainly pretty kewl to look at and who knows? Maybe some day a fully articulated, lightweight, serviceable set of real level IV body armor will be available. Then when SWAT teams go in after an armed and barricaded suspect they can play some good music over the same loudspeakers they were previously using to make announcements. (“Suspect inside the residence at 1616 S. Walnut, this is the police. You have five more minutes to lay down your weapon and walk onto the front porch with your hands in the air…n0? Okay Bull, cue the orchestra!”)

TIE Tactical Scabbards: TFB Tacticool Christmas Present Suggestion #11

November 15th, 2011

TIE Tactical (Tactical Innovations Engineering) has a new tiger strip pattern out. TIE makes some really nice custom kydex scabbards and sheaths for both fixed blades and folders (and of course some other things).

A TIE Tactical hatchet scabbard with belt lock for carry.

It’s not something you might think about right off, but they make some really nice belt scabbards even for folders. There are a number of reasons for this, including speed of presentation, carrying it on a battle belt, carrying a secondary folder, etc. The defensive/tactical reasons vary from individual, and will no doubt start more than one argument about what is valid, or a better way to carry, or whatever. This e-publication, perspicacious and sagacious as it is, will not get into that argument. We will going to say that TIE is run by an extremely nice, very detail-oriented and thorough man out of a small shop in Texas. He has a dual retention locking system if you want it (and these these things really do lock: you can carry ’em inverted and they’ll stay with you). He can make a number of different pieces you might want: for instance, we know of one commissioned project that involved a 5-round .38 speedloader for an airweight revolver sitting right next to a very small flashlight. Another was a small fixed blade (a SAR Global Tool Sarclops, as a matter of fact) next to a Zippo…you get the idea. He’s got the tools and he’s got the talent, and now he’s got the tiger stripe.

The Mad Duo previously wrote about TIE Tactical on Kit Up! if you want some background.

Magpul PTS: Only from Spartan Imports…and the Masada is coming

November 14th, 2011

We got the word from the gentlemen guys over at Spartan Imports that the upcoming Magpul PTS Masada AKM (an airsoft replica of the 7.62 x 39mm variant of the Magpul Masada) is on the way and will be available in time for Christmas. If you’re into MilSim at all you probably already know who Spartan is, but if not then you should check them out. They’re a family operated MilSim Airsoft operation out west (in California, in fact, though try not to hold that against them). They are the sole authorized distributors of PTS by Magpul: PTS is Professional Training & Simulation, which was established in 2007 to meet the high demand for airsoft-compatible Magpul accessories. For those of you who use airsoft weaponry as a training tool, this allows for realistic and accurate weapons and attachments for your scenarios and other training iterations. Of course, they look good for civilian sport use too. As Magpul says, “By maintaining the same basic form and function as Magpul weapon components, PTS equipment allows users to safely practice drills and perform scenarios without the use of live weapons or ammunition.”

Spartan Imports is the only US distributor of Magpul PTS products (including all accessories, the ACR /Advanced Combat Rifle, and the FPG/Folding Pocket Gun). Now, these guys can be overachievers…personally we blame the boss, though it’s entirely possible his little brother is equally to blame. Anyway, because of that you have several related Facebook pages to check out:

www.facebook.com/javelinairsoft

www.facebook.com/AMPTactical

Here are some pictures of PTS furniture on a good training weapon. Stay tuned if you want to see some info and pictures of the Masada (they’re already carrying rails and some other pieces for it). There are a few out but we’ve been promised some additional shots. More to follow. Here are some shots of the Magpul Professional Training & Simulation kit:

Gen Allen Interviewed on Afghan Television

November 14th, 2011

General Allen (command of ISAF, and U.S. Forces Afghanistan/USFOR-A) was recently interviewed on TOLO Television News in Afghanistan, if you’re interested in watching it.

According to Afghan informational websites, Tolo TV (“Sunrise” or “Dawn” in Dari and Pashto) is the name of a television service broadcasted from Kabul, Afghanistan. The service broadcasts news and general entertainment programs. The owner is Saad Mohseni who became an Australian citizen, and has now returned to Kabul. Tolo was launched on October 2004, as the first commercial television station to operate in Afghanistan and is a leading private TV channel in Afghanistan (now broadcasting in 14 cities on free-to-air and throughout the region by satellite). It  was started in 2004 and produces and broadcasts “AfghanStar”, one of Afghanistan’s most popular television series (very similar to American Idol). The show has drawn criticism and threats of violence from religious conservatives and security has been increased around the show. (Recently one of the station’s female VJs, a woman named Shiama Reziaee, was murdered after receiving threats for her un-Islamic behavior. In November 2007, the channel received warnings from Muslim clerics and the Culture Ministry for broadcasting a concert of singer Shakira.)

You can watch TOLO TV and other Afghan stations streaming live from here.

Modern Warfare 3 Breaking Sales Records

November 13th, 2011

Despite widespread conversation that the new Battlefield 3 was superior to the new Modern Warfare 3 (this isn’t to open up an argument, just going with the preponderance of input we’ve received), Activision Publishing announced on Friday that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has set an all-time sales record. How much? An estimated 6.5 million copies sold in North America and the United Kingdom alone. It also registered more than $400 million in sales. This is the third consecutive day-one launch record for the company, following the releases of Call of Duty: Black Ops ($360 million) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 ($310 million). Read on for more.

November 12th, 2011

The 12 Days of Tactical Christmas will be upon us soon. But what are they, you may ask? Why, a contest with 90 available prizes courtesy of some of the biggest names in the industry, that’s what!

Details soon to follow, and trust me when I say that it’s quite the unique event.

Act of Valor: New Trailer Out

November 12th, 2011

Looks like there’s a new trailer out for the Acts of Valor movie, which you may recall stars real, active duty Navy SEALs  in “fictitious accounts based on real world operational missions”. The first trailer looked bad ass. This one looks just as sweet, and we have to presume that barring OPSEC necessities the weapon handling and capabilities are about as realistic as they come. (If not, you have to assume it’s intentional, right?) This new trailer debuted during the Carrier Classic on Veteran’s Day.

This is the Act of Valor home page.  Check it out.

Loving that soundtrack.

MultiCam In Call Of Duty And Battlefield

November 12th, 2011

MultiCam has gained more prominence in the entertainment industry, being featured in recent movies, tv shows, and video games. Here’s a few examples of some high profile games that have featured MultiCam in some capacity.

The first instance in the CoD series featuring MultiCam starts at Modern Warfare 2. Though not directly mentioned, it seems like members of the multinational Special Forces group Task Force 141 featured in the campaign and Multiplayer are wearing a MultiCam variant that makes up the coloring of their kit and pants.

Modern Warfare 3 is one of the few games that feature MultiCam by name. If you’ve played MW3, or watched any videos online, then it’s likely you’ve noticed that Metal Team, the campaign’s resident Delta operators, are decked out in MultiCam battle uniforms, as are the Delta multiplayer models. It’s also an unlockable weapon’s skin that can be used on all the game’s primaries.

Finally, Battlefield 3 has MultiCam as worn by the Marine EOD operator in your squad in Single Player. It’s also an unlockable multiplayer skin as ‘Paratrooper’ camo (pause at 0:47).

Graffiti of War

November 11th, 2011

Tactical life ran a great (if too short) piece today on graffiti in the AOR. It’s a funny change from the gang graffiti or anti-American scrawls. The funniest one we’ve seen to date was in ’06. One of your eee-light team of tactical bloggers saw a bombed out Iraqi T-72 (God only knows how long it had been there) on the way toward the Ziggurat of Ur that read “Chuck Norris was here.” On a more serious note, you might also be interested in the Graffiti of War Project, it’s seriously cool…in fact, if you aren’t familiar with it, go there now (the picture below came from that site and that project). It’s a great cause and has incredible art from our boys and girls on the ground.

Tactical Distributors Beanie And Arc’teryx Talos Deal

November 11th, 2011

The TD beanie is a one-size-fits-all fleece beanie. It features a front facing Velcro section with an M4 profile sewn in the middle for placing morale patches, and a Velcro strip in the back, for an additional patch/nametag. I have a sand one myself, and I have to say its quite comfortable. Also available in black.

Speaking of TD, they’re currently holding a special promotion for select Arc’teryx purchases. If you buy a Talos item, pant or shirt, you get a free pair of Arc’teryx Knee Caps in coyote. This is on a per-item basis as well, not just one per customer, so if you happen to purchase both a shirt and pant or two shirts and two pants, three of each, etc., you get an equivalent number of pairs of Knee Caps. If you’ve been holding out on getting a pair of Talos pants, now’s the perfect opportunity.

Veterans Day

November 11th, 2011

We here at TFB would like to give our sincerest, most heartfelt thanks to every individual who has served in the Military. From the very first militiamen to the warfighters of today, your sacrifices assure that we continue our way of life, freedom, and liberty. Again, thank you.
