The BOLO Report, a blog catering to “law enforcement, military and high threat security professionals” just ran a piece on your weak hand draw, if you’re injured or impeded in some way. The article was written by one of the BOLO Report contributors who is a LEO and a competitive shooter, originally for the Women’s Tactical Association. If you’re someone who runs real steel, or has a CCW, or is one of our readership in the noble profession of arms, you might want to check it out.
On a more serious note: Real Steel
December 6th, 2011A Slightly Different TFB Gift Idea…Zombie Gnomes?
December 6th, 2011It’s not that we’re unsure about the suitability of a zombie gnome as a gift. It’s a great idea. We’re just not sure if it’s appropriate to give one for Christmas or to wait a couple days and find a different excuse…though frankly we’re putting some up here locally and calling them dead elves (they’ll be under the tree). After New Year’s Eve we’ll put ’em outside where it’s a little safer for us. Anyway, apparently since Garden Gnomes are protectors of life, they are the first to fall victim to the zombiepocalypse pandemic. You can get information about them on the Zombie Gnome Facebook page, here, or e-mail doug@klonefx.com. Whichever way you go looking for one, remember two things: 1. Go for a head shot and remember they’re small, and moving. Speed is fine but accuracy is final. 2. Tell them Tactical Fanboy sent you, would you please?
The manufacturer says, When it comes to how long they will last outdoors, it depends on your climate and weather conditions. They are solid cast gypsum cement, hand painted and sealed with a matte clear UV coating. The bottoms are sealed with rubber to inhibit water absorption from the ground. If you want to reseal it, use clear polyurethane. Any sealant will wear out over time. It’s best to keep them dry and out of direct sunlight.
Say, on the subject of zombies…if you’re one of the head honchos from Zombie Squad and you read this, drop us a line. We need to have a serious chat before everything goes to hell in handbasket and the dead outnumber the living.
Rogue American Women
December 6th, 2011Remember reading about Rogue American Apparel? Their women’s line is now out, and not only are their shirts just as cool as the men’s line, the models are way hotter (and have more hair). Rogue American t-shirts are hand distressed, so every one is unique, and each design has only 500 printed. RAA supports the Brothers in Arms Foundation with every sale, and frequently runs special designs that are completely devoted to helping fallen or injured Warriors (which is why you should like them on Facebook). To quote their website, “Our tees have the same cut and feel as Ed hardy, we just don’t let douchebags wear them.”
MilSim Event Review of WT Tactical
December 5th, 2011Some of the guys from MSE went out hunting for some piggies, doing some four-wheeling and basically just spending three days in the mountains proving that adage about men and boys and the price of their toys. Check it out. The actual reviewing is at about 3:20 and 6:16, but if you want to just feel bad that you didn’t get to go play and they did then watch the whole thing.
Tactical Fanboy Gift Idea #1729: Effin-A Compensator
December 5th, 2011Need a link to send to Household-6 or your grandma to give them an idea what to buy you for Christmas? Send them the direct link to this page. You might just need yourself an Effin’A Compensator. Kit Up! ran an article the other day detailing a review of the item, if you’re interested.

December 4th, 2011Tactical Fanboy Gift Idea #13: I KILL TERRORISTS
December 4th, 2011IKT Clothing is pretty simple in its mantra. Say what you mean, mean what you say. The founder is a former Marine Scout-Sniper turned Army SF veteran who spent more than a little time in the sandbox. They have several designs, all revolving around one simple (but kick ass theme). You might guess that theme by reading the name of the whole line of apparel (though they have t-shirts, hoodies, patches, decals, et al). Learn more about them on Facebook and let ’em know Tactical Fanboy sent you. (Oh, and despite what you might think, they’re not snake-eater snobs; you don’t have to do a tab check to buy their stuff, as long as you’re a patriotic American who supports…well, killing terrorists).

December 3rd, 2011Tactical Fanboy Gift Idea #10: The Guardian From Big Trouble In Little China
December 3rd, 2011The Guardian by Mike Graham of Zombie Monkey is a great gift for anyone who’s a huge fan of the John Carpenter classic ‘Big Trouble in Little China’. For those who don’t know, The Guardian was the eyes and ears for Lo Pan, the main antagonist, in his vast underground lair. Also, Jack Burton (Kurt Russell) shot it, so that has to count for something, right? Personally, I always got a Beholder vibe from this thing, minus the capacity to completely destroy any high level party that happens upon it. Anyway, it’s roughly the size of a human head, is made from over five pounds of Magic Sculpt putty and a Mega Munny head, and will set you back $500. Remember how I said “…for anyone who’s a huge fan…”?
Tactical Fanboy Gift Idea #7: RE Factor Loot
December 3rd, 2011Yes, #7. Why 7? Because their swag is just cool as hell. RE Factor Tactical.RE Factor, if you ask (and you will) means Relative Effectiveness as it pertains to TNT (which has an RE of 1). Other explosives are measured from there (in simple terms; there’s actually more to it than that).
Tactical Distributors Contest
December 2nd, 2011Tactical Distributors is running a contest. You have to look through their site to find the four little green army men hidden in the pictures. It’s a great contest. They deliver fast, have a 10% military discount and offer free overnight upgrade shipping CONUS. Plus they have cool stuff. Better get on their fast or you’re gonna miss out. HURRY UP DO IT NOW MOVE.
Tactical Fanboy Gift Suggestion #1121: C.A.T. M4
December 2nd, 2011Gotcha a little carbon build-up? Rather be hunting for Vladimir Makarov or Solomon? Better things to do than spending hours cleaning your bolt carrier group the good old fashioned way? Think about telling the Residential Sergeant Major, your girlfriend (not both at the same time) or your mom to get you a Combat Application Tools M-4 tool. You can’t go wrong throwing one of these in your kit or your range bag.

Voodoo Tactical’s “Matrix” Pack
December 1st, 2011MilSim Event (we reported on their upcoming Reindeer Games a while back) did a review of the Voodoo Matrix pack. Now, what’s interesting about this review is the guy doing the synopsis isn’t just a MilSim enthusiast. He’s a
former grunt and current LEO. Check it out.
Zombie Attack Barbie!
December 1st, 2011This clever image shop by Sarah Anne Langton of Secret Arctic Base shows exactly how awesome a Barbie doll would be if the Zombie craze happened five decades earlier. Throw a few of those Zombie Ken dolls in the mix, and you’d have the ultimate playtime doomsday scenario, just with more pink and effeminate, formerly-living boyfriends. Now with grenades!
Multiple Applications Group Giveaway
November 30th, 2011The Multiple Applications Group “M7 MilSim Unit” is giving away a tactical rig once they reach 500 ‘likes’ on Facebook. Here’s their explanation:
Here’s the rig in question, followed by an explanation of their group. If you go check them out, tell ’em Tactical Fanboy sent you.
“Consisting of current and former Military, IC’s, and Civilians, Multiple Applications Group is a collective of professionals taking a combined 40+ years experience in ‘Extreme Applications’ and applying the knowledge to scenario preparation, training elements, product testing/review, and delivery of experienced advice.
Extreme: Reaching a high or the highest degree.

We are faced with Extreme Applications on a daily basis. Whether driving in a bad storm, fast roping from a helo under fire, or pushing for that last mile in a marathon. It is something we face in our daily lives yet we rarely prepare for. It is in that moment when ill preparation meet with an outstanding circumstance that we choose to excel or let consume us.”

Tactical Fanboy Gift Idea #141: Sure Shots Gear
November 28th, 2011Like to shoot? Like girls? Like girls who like to shoot? Perhaps you’re a girl that likes to shoot? In the interest of open-mindedness, maybe you just like to dress like a girl who likes to shoot. Anyway, you should go look at the store recently set up by the Austin Sure Shots, an all-female shooting league in the Lone Star State. Yes, there are some shirts and hoodies in there suitable for males. You might also check them out, if you’re a female shooter in Texas. They train in a couple different locations, once a week, and they do more than just spend time on the range. They do IDPA, rifle work, tactical drills and concealed carry stuff, plus bring in SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) on things like post-shooting psychology, legal issues pursuant to shooting in self-defense, etc.
Gorillaz Special Edition Converse Chuck Taylors
November 28th, 2011Coming February 2012, Converse will be releasing special edition Chuck Taylors based on cartoon hip-hop/electronic band The Gorillaz. Four prints will be available, all taken from artwork done by Jamie Hewlett, co-creator of the band. Appropriately enough (for this blog, anyway) the only print images released so far are of the camouflage seen on the ‘Geep’ featured on the cover of the band’s self-titled debut album. They’ll be available internationally from select retailers and online stores and will retail for approximately 60 USD.
Sara Ahrens OffBeat: Corner Shot
November 27th, 2011If you watch Top Shot at all, you probably remember Sara Ahrens. She is a patrol sergeant with the Rockford (IL) Police Department and appeared on Top Shot Season 3. Recently she had occasion to try out the “Corner-Shot”, an oft-maligned and largely piece of kit. Here opinion is below. It’s interesting that she very politely points out where someone showed a lack of understanding towards the specificity and niche use of the Corner Shot. Was it truly a lack of understanding? Yes, it certainly was. You can be really good at something and still be ignorant of others. Many of us have been shooters, some in Tier One, high end units. We absolutely respect that, but that doesn’t make any of us the grand master of tactics. Blithely disdaining a piece of equipment, or a TTP, without taking into account the context in which it is intended to be used, is just foolish.
CamSkin For Contour ROAM
